Stranded in Paradise || Experiencing The Cook Islands
มุมมอง 20414 วันที่ผ่านมา
A real world travel guide around The Cook Islands. The Cook Islands are a 6 hour flight south of Hawaii. I would highly recommend visiting these pacific islands. Hawaiian Airlines operates a direct flight connecting Honolulu to Rarotonga. I came on a Sunday so much of the town was closed. Even on a rainy day I still had a ball exploring the Island by foot, bus, and hitchhiking. I was shocked to...

4:10 - Pretty sure that 657 cc normally aspirated engine isn't producing anywhere close to 70 HP. That'd be on the high side for a modern engine with DOHC, electronic ignition and fuel injection. Kei trucks and vans usually produce around 40 HP.
Agreed! An error on my part.
Looks like that fruitland camp site was pretty snazzy
Very nice. Cheers from Tokyo!
Thanks!
I see these every day. But I live in Tokyo. ;)
How much do they cost there USD?
I visited Rarotonga and Aitutaki in the early 90s. My wife and I had a special dinner on our "last" night. But when we went to the airport, their once a week flight was delayed for 24 hours! Sometimes, even flights are on "island time."
I'm sure it hasn't changed much!
You can get the vent for the passenger side
Where! I would love to get one.
Type 1 engine? isn't it a 1971? (better than a 1972 with a type 4 engine)
I believe it is a 1971!
Good job staying with it. The Ercoupe, like all low powered aircraft, appreciates total energy management. Not much can be done for fuel energy help as the Stromberg carburetor doesn't lean as well for the extra rpm. We can, however, find extra natural energy. Get the nose wheel just off as soon as possible as in the soft field takeoff, get the mains off as soon as possible as in the soft field takeoff, push/pull the yoke dynamically and proactively to level the fuselage in low ground effect (we want all wheels off for friction reduction and a level pitch attitude) for maximum acceleration possible, and pitch up to just over the trees. I assume it was a down drainage egress, critical especially at high DA. I flew the Ercoupe and all the other small Continental engine airplanes in the mountains. It is an underrated but fine airplane.
Thanks! It's been some years since this happened. But I am still grateful for all I learned in the coupe. I still have it but don't get to fly it nearly as often as I would like.
the wipers and indicator switches are swapped so you can still shift with the left hand and indicate/use turn signal.
Thanks! I learned something new today

Nope!
DA/DB(1985-1991年) 非常に古い車なのでこれを日本で見つけることは困難です。70万円という価格は日本での価格の2倍くらいだと思います。
In the philippines it is converted to left hand drive
Is there any reason for that?

70hp from a carbed sohc non turbo f6a? Try 42hp. That Kei spec limit is 63. The Suzuki Cappuccino with its dohc turbo f6a engine might unofficially make that...
Thanks! I have to many numbers in my head already. Definitely feels more like 42!

Count how many Kei Cars are in the video.
Love the round headlights
Me too!
It would sure be nice to see some before and after shots of your Ercoupe... or maybe some before and before or more after or maybe just more shots... Nice airplane...
Next time!
Great video Kaden.
Thanks Tom!
Incredible
Thanks!
One - ya over paid for it. Carsfromjapan or mitsui
Whenever I access carfromjapan I *ALWAYS* encounter an error message, and can do nothing about it (typically Error 500). What I'm wondering, is if the cost didn't just include the car [in the condition it was in when it arrived] as well as equipment/accessories/spare parts (and I suppose the particular shipping costs of the specific port that it was to be delivered to)... But also, whether or not it included the cost of registration, number plates, taxes perhaps associated with export and/or import, guarantees, insurances etc.? Perhaps even things such as location of premises where it was sold (which isn't really a good enough excuse to increase the price - among several other of the factors). I wonder what the situation with negotiating the price ended up entailing??
I need a car in Hawaii when I was moving out and it seemed to meet my mission. It also seems like most people that buy Kei cars from there end up having to fix them when they get here. I've probably ran into 4 or 5 out here on the island that had that case.
Any bumps in a Kei vehicle are rough.🤣 I've got 2 of them. A 1993 Daihatsu Mira Walk-Through and a 1993 Daihatsu Mira TR XX Avanzato. Love em both‼️
When the speed bump is half the size of the wheel it's hard lol
I'm in the Philippines. This Vehicle is very common here. comes in different shapes, some in a van, some look like a pick up truck.
I just got back from the Cook Islands and it is the same thing there! I wish we saw that here more.
@@SamandKadenGoPlacesconverted to Left Hand Drivr im the Philippines
Ive been looking for one of those vans to put in my sprinter van as a spare.
Lol that would be so bad ass
Cool little van. Awesome thank you for the video. I just bought a 2005 Suzuki Every Joypop Turbo with only 9300 miles. It's on its way from Japan at the moment.
I wish I had a turbo!
30 mpg after the carburetor change that is I guess ?
That's correct. Mileage did not change with new carb.
@@SamandKadenGoPlaces O, I thought that it would consume less with the original carburetor . Nice to know!
Had you bought it from Europe, then the steering wheel would be on the left side. It's a pity that YT doesn't allow links in the comments.
I think I am starting to like driving on the right side better anyways! Not sure if I could handle driving on the left side of the road. Just came back from the cook islands and it took my mind a little to wrap around it.
GME and Bedford ?
If it’s from the UK, right hand drive but MPH cluster
Maybe on the newer ones but not on the older ones they are all RHD because they are JDM
depends what spec you get, ive seen pretty basic spec have all the vents and speakers in the doors. but uk they cost a bit more that usa the one im looking at is around $8500 mark but only 40k miles and like new condition. depends on how basic the basic the first owner wanted as you can get few with center light too but they do tend to be pretty basic but i feel that is the charm of them too, just less to go wrong. and now uk becoming country with lower limits popping up everywhere and cameras a slow van i feel not an issue and rarely go on to bigger roads so speed it won't effect me much as where i am its a fast less than 30 min drive on 70 mph before on to 50 and 60 country roads so ideal cruising speed for one these. one these but slightly newer as we have clean air zones what charge to enter so buy the right age its free if not its £8-12 a day that adds up. my next car/van buy its one these but slightly newer or a modern euro 6 engine i20 what should be free to enter these fraud zones for a lot longer that only cars on top my list to by next, nothing else caught my eye and boring
think all Japanese cars the signals and wipers on the other way
you can get 5 speed manual also or an auto , a 5 speed manual seems better way to go, 1998 that what on offer
I think I am going to upgrade to a 5 speed. Mine does have the dome light!
@@SamandKadenGoPlaces tricky when buying is so many variations, depending on first buyer on how basic and some basic can have a lot more some don't even have a 2nd air vent so very basic so really the best option get one great condition and upgrade yourself over time, i bet you struggle to find two the same config unless from same company
You want parts for your kei van, your best bet is to find another van exactly like it and buy it and use that one for parts. Its waaaay less headache than hunting online for individual parts. It will make having flat tires way less of a proplem. Just grab it off the parts van.
Not too many parts vans here in Hawaii. I'm always on the lookout. My problem is whenever I get something for part it becomes its own project.
Wonder if this would work on a HiJet s110p
What engine? If it is 657cc F6A I think it would work.
@@SamandKadenGoPlaces it’s the 659cc efns engine
