    In California, you HAVE TO buy electric mowers in 2025. The environmental a-holes insist on getting rid of internal combustion engines.

    You do need fancy equipment and it’s expensive one of them it’s those big mowers. Cmon stop the bull shit even that set up it’s very expensive like the tailgate and stuff in which it probably costs way more than that ford ranger.

    It's probably not wise to keep water and other drinks stored in a hot shed. They really need room temperature storage. I maintain a 25 case minimum of water in my house all year. I hope that this is helpful. God bless you guys. In Season, Out of Season Yard Care, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Realize that everything they do wrong is your fault because they haven’t been trained correctly and realize that each mistake they made is an opportunity to coach them up and fix the whole in your training so it doesn’t happen again

    An option, but takes more effort, is to wear a backpack with 48V/52V electric bicycle batteries, along with a cord that adapts into whatever hand tools or push mowers you want to use. The riding mowers are nice, but electric push mowers only weigh 20 lbs and you can race with them. Or get two or three for cheap and put the whole crew on the task. You can even use a truck or a van instead of pulling a trailer, so you save there too. Or send a one-man crew to do a job slowly if work is slow or you're pulling in more distant work, etc. This means you're not tied to any specific tool manufacturer. Just make sure it can handle the voltage of your packs, and create custom plugs using anderson connectors or the like.

  • @dw5743
    @dw5743 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I do tend agree with what you are saying as far as maintenance on the hand tools if you do smaller lots like y'all do. However, in my case I don't see a scenario in the near future that would ever make sense to have electric mowers or handtools unless you only mow small yards like you do. I live in a rural area and my average property is minimum 1 acre. I have several properties that are 3 to 5 acres each. With the greenworks mowers you are mentioning you are not even making it through an entire day where I am at. I tend to just run 100% older equipment from the early 2000's they are bullet proof. I also like to run older honda and robin 4 cycle trimmers so there is no oil mixing at all simplifies things. One thing I would add in general that people tend to overlook is I would advise people to buy older equipment in general it was made better and last longer. For example one of my older mowers is a hustler 42" Fastrak Z from 2004 and it has 1000's of hours on it the hour meter doesnt even work anymore and the only thing I have had to do on it is routine maintenance.

    Loved how in the first minutes it makes sense to buy gas stuff that's low hours and use it for what it's worth for 3 seasons and then trade up. Now to think about that for me.... 36 mowers sound nice however I'm in California and that my problem but I'm saying that a 21 inch mower that's reliable is what's up

    I appreciate this video! I run an all electric lawn care outfit out of Western Massachusetts call Eco Valley Lawn Care. We have about 100 residential and smaller HOA mowing accounts similar in size to your market for the most part. I don't necessarily agree that it's not worth it to purchase any type of electric mowers until you're operating at scale, but I do agree it adds a significant degree of difficulty if you're looking to scale rapidly past $500K. We've been able to circumvent the issue of expensive riding mowers by buying residential eGo units, and then adding additional charging capacity out on the road with Goal Zero 6000 watt hour battery banks. Which keeps the cost of a single setup right around the $10,000 mark. This worked well in the beginning to allow us to stay profitable with cheap setups in the beginning, but ultimately isn't a great long term solution as the Goal Zero Battery Banks aren't up to the task of so many charge/discharge cycles, so they aren't ultimately worth the $4,000-$6,000 price tag because they don't seem to last for more than 2 years. A lot of whether you can scale or even successfully grow with electric equipment hinges on whether you have the capability to charge enough equipment at your lot where you park. I just bought a fully electric Ford F-150 Lightning with pro power on board to try to permanently solve the issue of constantly running short on batteries on longer mowing days and during fall cleanups. I recognize shelling out the money for this truck is going to significantly slow our scaling efforts, but if it solves the headache of being underpowered and having battery issues that adversely affect how much work we can do in a day, I'm willing to take a shot to see how it goes. We have been fully in on the all electric model since the beginning, and could not switch to a hybrid model without receiving too much flack. We just bought the exact Green Works 36" stander you're speaking about. The only issue with that machine is that it still has a smaller battery 8kWH compared to double the bigger 42" deck and full priced models with 16 or 24kWH batteries, so it still can run short during a full day of mowing if being run constantly. Furthermore the joy stick controls are super touchy and take quite a bit of getting used to especially for less experienced users not to scar the crap out of lawns compared to the super lightweight eGo residential zero turns we've been running. We have 0% interest five year financing on both the truck and new mower, so I will keep watching your content and report back in a couple of years about whether his equipment has paid off and is converting into savings over gas, or if it sinks the business/keeps us stuck at a certain size for much longer than I had planned.

      @theelectriclawncareguy5051 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would definitely keep an eye on your numbers and your fixed expenses from these loans. I. Your P&L your operation expenses might be lower but your liabilities are going to be much higher. When it comes to maintenance crews having a high set up cost with electric mowers and trucks isn’t ideal given the margins on maintenance, this is going to raise your break even point in your hourly rate. I can appreciate the uniformity of having an electric truck with all electric equipment but I think there’s cheaper ways to solve your power problem and also reduces how much it costs to get multiple trucks on the road without compromising the brand you want. It can be a good fit for you now but I’d advise thinking of other ways that are less expensive to get another truck on the road that doesn’t have a power problem. You can always have a better bank on your set up that’s charged by the alternator in the vehicle and solar panels. Add a 110v plug in so you can plug the whole bank in at the end of the day when you get back to the shop. It would definitely be easier to scale and probably reduce the costs of a set up (not buying an electric truck) by at least 40k

      No one bats an eye as battery tools have replaced pneumatic tools. The same will happen in lawn care. As the technology improves gas will be replaced. Especially once people combine off grid charging set ups. Don't let the commie regulations blind you to the potential of these systems.

    It makes sense for trimmers / edgers / hand held, maybe even a backpack or a small 21” finish mower. Personally I run the echo 56v battery system and I use all these; however the roi isn’t great on an electric stander / zero turn that’s 2-3x the cost of a gas powered one.

  • @SlackerU
    @SlackerU 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Buying used electric mowers is a non issue as long as you don't give them any money for batteries over 2 years old. 1 year old batteries need a 50% discount.

  • @SlackerU
    @SlackerU 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nice breakdown, I agree. To add, Batteries are still too expensive for riding mowers. And Electric mowers still overheat so you can't work on days over 90f without damaging your electronics, like literally overheating connecters where the burn lowers the connection more... Electric blowers are loud so you don't save on noise, I use about 40ah of battery to leaf blow my 1/2 acre. On used-purchases I use the life-expectancy of rubber, in that synthetic rubber only lasts about 10 years in ideal conditions before it begins to lose its chemical-bonds. With 6 years being my limit for buying any used-rubber. So all rubber seals, belts, tires over 6 years old won't see money from me.

  • @kelkev85

    You can really tell when someone is speaking from experience and not just ideology 😂 I do think he same thing I have a hybrid setup my mowers and blowers are gas everything else is electric. I had a greenworks 52” stander actually got a really good deal at the time but it was WAY to heavy for my conditions basically made it unusable. Never once heard anyone discussing the weight issue of electric zero turns I believe it was around 1500lbs
