For double strike, there are two damage steps. During each one, you assign it how you want, then immediately deal it. The assignment might be different during first strike damage and normal damage, especially since some creatures might die between them.

You'll have the retroactively added first strike step first, in which you'll assign all the damage you deal with Zetalpa as you choose, then you'll have the regular combat damage, when you will again assign the damage as you choose to whichever creatures remain.

What do you consider an OP one mana instant?

Trample is still as good as it always was; as long as you can deal more damage than opposing creatures' toughnesses, it's still the only way to do damage to the player as well. At no point can a blocked creature without trample assign damage to a player.

Nothing about trample has changed at all.

Question though! If you have a 5/5 with trample, and it's blocked by two 2/2s, if you choose to deal one damage and then four damage, would the trample damage on the 2/2 taking four damage still roll over as intended? Instead of doing two damage and three damage to them, so only one damage rolls over?

@@TheYahooProductions no. Trample works as you are assigning damage rather than afterwards. In order to Trample over, you need to assign lethal to all blockers, then you can assign the rest to the player (so 2, 2, and 1). That's why it's not great with damage doublers, but can get through protection.

@@TheYahooProductions Trample still requires lethal damage to be dealt to all blocking creatures before any can be dealt to opponent.

Deathtouch was always good, and since deathtouch only ever required a creature to deal one damage to one blocker in order to deal damage to the next, it hasn't changed.

Play boosters have definitely exacerbated this problem. Sealed always was a bit of a luck-fest, but skill with building could mitigate some of that issue. Play boosters made it much more difficult, along with power creep.

That's so sweet of you to say - means so much to hear it! Yeah, you're completely correct on the crewing to draw a card. Missed that completely when playing, regretted immediately on reviewing the draft before posting. I could make whole videos just evaluating the mistakes and suboptimal plays I made each draft. I try not to let it get me down and use it to improve, but there are SO MANY, lol. I always wonder what I was thinking. Present Ariana wishes she could thwack Past Ariana into seeing the right lines.

I know, right? It can often do great things, but it is a late-game card and dependent on the top of OP's deck, so always a little bit of an unknown quantity.

I'm so happy you enjoyed it, and thanks for the feedback! It's actually an edited recording of the draft as it happened, and I had to sleep afterward to prepare for Day 2, but I'll consider putting some sort of review/summation up in the future.

I was feeling supremely confident, as you can tell, lol. Yeah, it was completely nerve-wracking. Sorry to have stressed you out! This set is bonkers with its play boosters and 3 bonus sheets. Sealed feels like an exercise in RNG.

It was so depressing. But them's the breaks, sadly. Maybe we'll get it next time!

Yeah, it drew extremely well and didn't hit many bombs on OP's side. A lot of RNG luck went into this one. I saw a bunch of suboptimal plays I made in the review, but the deck handled it. I do find red to be overall fairly weak in this set respective to the other colors, but if everyone avoids it, guess we've gotta capitalize on that.

@@HeadologyMagic when i first draft this set the draft guide on youtube originally said red is the best color in draft. But then in my 1st pack i open Bonny a bomb simic card and i dont get pass god red black card i just play simic plus white because they pass me a bomb selesnya too. I won that draft just dumping bomb on my opponent. Turn out green is good too :)). about a month later i saw the draft guide update and said green was the best color was hilarious.

Welcome! Happy to have you here! I would love to, but I mostly draft at this point, though I'm building lots of commander decks to potentially play with viewers via spelltable. I do have some ideas for playing against viewers in the future as well.
