    Terrible to see some decent enough cars being crushed, producing new cars is far worse on the environment 😕

    Gladly, draining our bogs is now a thing of the past... I often wondered how they managed to cut the drains so perfectly parallel on BnM bogs going back 70 years ago before we had the use of GPS etc. Each field couldn’t be 2km long.

    Do scrappers have to take of VIN plates and number plates and hand them back to road authority ? What stops crooks from re-using the plates to rebirth other cars.

    Okay, in America an "excavator' is what you call a "digger". That's what I expected to see. What is the point of draining the bogs? It doesn't look like farmland. Is it just so you can walk out there and hunt, etc without standing in water? Does anyone complain because you're "messing with the delicate wetland ecosystem"? Also, I know I'm weird, but I just love drab places like that, all browns and greys and cloudy skies. I would love to see the fens and the moors some day.

    • @bmurphy0296

      justforever96 if yiu cut thw turf and reclaim it properly you might get away with land suitable for sheep and that it actually wouldn't be too bad for winter and goodnfor summer grazing

    • @alanbyrne4348
      @alanbyrne4348 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but cant the tracks on the diggers be lengthened and widened for bog work ?

  • @bladder1010
    @bladder1010 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I gather the bog must be fairly free of rocks and the like? I imagine the digger hitting a bigger rock could really do some damage?

    These seem to be fairly late model cars with no visible damage. I believe in Europe, they have more stringent inspection requirements that will pretty much take any car off the road at about the 10 year mark, at least it was that way it was when I lived in Belgium back in 1986. I believe these requirements are more out of economics to keep people employed in the European auto industries than out of safety concerns.

      Kenneth Southard old cars have souls. new ones are lifeless bits of metal

    • @rrknl5187
      @rrknl5187 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In other words, the car manufacturers have purchased the regulations requiring the citizens to buy new cars instead of maintaining their existing ones.

    • @kennethsouthard6042
      @kennethsouthard6042 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      RR KNL I think it has as much to do with the socialist governments in Europe if much or not more than the auto industry. Governments there are very high service and it takes a lot of forced taxation to keep that train rolling, some of it disguised as regulation. If you mandate that a car can't last more than ten years, you keep money coming in and assembly line jobs. Could be wrong, but in my opinion it's basically a hidden tax.

    • @rrknl5187
      @rrknl5187 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kenneth Southard.....Based on my limited knowledge of socialism, that makes a lot of sense.
