John was definitely popular in Hartford. The atmosphere around the team was pretty dark but I don't think anyone considered him an outsider, even if he felt like one!
Preach it on Blakey! His a KID playing with MEN and he does not look like he is ou of place. Makes mistakes, but so does everybody else. Most creative player in the team right now. Jarvy is playing great, but I see more creativity in Blake.
And to think there are some people that think packaging him in a deal is a smart idea...#insanity!
Oh Jackson Blake is a freaking boss. He looked every bit as good as Bedard last night if not better. He is a bonafide top 6 NHL forward.
Agree wholeheartedly - Blake is a bonafide Top 6 guy for the now and for the future!

chris and i have a few tricks up our sleeves! :-) all kidding aside, Mr. Burnside is nothing short of a class act. Amazing!
Give Rantanen some more time on the ice with the boys, and he's going to fit right in. I'm going to miss Necas, but I think he gave us his best years. Still has a lot to give, but being solid and mentoring some young players should be good for him. Welcome home, Mikko! Good luck, Marty! You'll always be a Hurricane to the fans!

Hey Seth...there's ALOT to what you're saying. Saying we "suck so bad", IMHO, is a definite overreach. But, I do want to comment on 37,82,88 for Pettersson. I'd be ok with a package that involves Necas, Kotkaniemi and a prospect or pick. But, there's way more to digest than just here... As much as I'm a bit frustrated with 37 play, power forwards just don't grow on your local pine tree. I just can't give in to that one quite yet...not quite yet.

@@johnwick8310 thx man! Appreciated
Incredible conversation with Jimmy Murphy. Jimmy has so much hockey knowledge and depth of conversation is so cool for us to be part of.
Please help us grow our channel
Canes are a wildly over-rated team: 1) They're trying to get by with Kotchetkov who's a reckless & over agressive trainwreck who can't handle adversity & self destructs at the drop of a hat. Meanwhile there was no reason to ever resign Freddie Andersen for two more years as the guys knees have been shot since 2021 & he hasn't come close to playing a full slate of games in over five seasons. They're going nowhere in the playoffs again because they have two lower tier 2G's and don't have a goaltender who's close to a 1G or that can compete vs. the elite playoff teams in the postseason. Andersen was absolutely dreadful vs the Rangers last season in the playoffs. 2) Meanwhile Brent Burns is an old, slow moving compost pile who's constantly puck chasing as he can no longer sustain the pace of play required for success. It's beyond absurd to utilize Burns on the first D pairing at this stage of his career. 3) Resigning tiny tot Seth Jarvis for eight seasons and $64m when the guy has known shoulder issues and is way too small to ever be paired with Aho on the first line as together they'll both get physically anniliated in the postseason was ridiculous. 4) Aho can't defend any of the top line Centers in the NHL & still needs Jordan Staal to do all his dirty work for him on the defensive end against the NHL elite teams. Aho is a 2C at best and will never be an effective 1C in the postseason in the NHL. 5) Jesperi Kotkaniemi is an AHL level center at best. He caused two CBJ goals in last nights game in Columbus & got blown-up repeatedly in the face-off circle through-out the game while once again providing zero physicality with his head up his butt passive aggressive nonsense. KK is an absolute joke at eight years for $4.82m on top of the $6.1m they wasted on the offer sheet for his initial season in Raleigh as there's no consistency or reliablitliy to his game. He's not even a viable 4C at the NHL level. 6) For a #2 pick in the 2019 draft, Svechnikov's game has evolved very poorly as he consistently struggles to score goals and is an ongoing penalty machine. He spends more time in the sin bin than most NHL enforcers. 7) Just piss poor management decisions & a ten year old GM could do better! I don't get on Canes Country anymore because it's a bunch of arrested development, failure to launch adolescents who need to get a life. I don't mind people having an opinion but when your team has tanked in the playoffs for six consecutive years it's time to show a little class and tip your hat to the elite teams who've been successful and just keep your pie hole shut until such time as your team finally wins an ECF & SCCF game once in a blue moon! 1) Can't stand listening to the the Greenville Stat Turd who's a classic, bitter & hateful malcontent, & woefully insecure gaslighter (ECU). 2) That vomit inducing wind-bag from Charlotte (fatcheeser) is a complete waste of space. Stopped reading his diarhhea of the mouth rah, rah Canes front office can do not wrong posts several years ago. 3) The phony, self righteous, nauseating religious extremist SCCF is a blatant mysoginist from the word go. Dude's still harping on Abby at every turn. Just beyond lame. Give it a rest choir boy! 4) Cold as Nice posseses the intellect of an eight year old. Posts un-intelligent, childish, jibberissh about fifty times a day. Complete L-O-S-E-R. 5) Meanwhile Bennjeff is clearly obsessed with marginal NHL draft busts whose careers are going nowhere. His ongoing raves about KK reached the point of sad & comical two years ago. At this point listening to his pointless excuses for KK is like nails on a blackboard. If they'd get rid of these five there are at least five others who enjoy ruining the experience for everyone. Bob Wage wanted it to be a mindless, good old boy homer club, where eveyone raves about the front office & that's what he got. Not a shred of credibility remains on that dumpster fire!
Mark you’re more than welcome to comment but the majority of your comments are just based upon your conjecture. Now we’re not claiming a cup is coming but this team has alot of young players coming through the pipe. I think you’re failing to miss the overarching theme that this team is really good. Have they faltered in the playoffs? Yea they have But I just can’t agree with the majority of what you’re saying
@@soundthesirenfancast Jack Drury may not be big or possess a great shot but he wins face-offs, is way better than KK defensively, is a much better passer than KK in the o-zone (KK's only skill is outlet passing & he's a turn-over machine in the O-zone), he's far more agile and a much better skater than KK, and most importantly he shows up and hustles and gives 100 percent every game. KK is a joke. Dude has been playing god awful lazy-assed D for the last five or six games. Necas has 12 goals & 23 assists in 21 games. Can you imagine the numbers he'd be putting up if he was paired with a legit 2C with size that can put pucks in the net? It's time to move on from Kotkaniemi. He's an under-performing, over-entitled, head case which is the exact same problem he had in Montreal. There's been no progression in his game over seven NHL seasons. Time to say good riddance & turn the page.
@@marks6041again please keep commenting. But we just can’t agree on KK. Is he a finished product? No…but cutting ties is easier to say more difficult to do.
@Sound_the_Siren it's plainly obvious that RBA wants nothing more to do with KK. His lack of anything resembling a consistent effort level drives Brind A'mour bonkers. I guarantee the Canes FO will buy him out the remainder of his contract this offseason.
@@marks6041time will tell

The Canes lack size in the line-up especially in their top six. There was no one on the Canes roster capable of running interference for Guenztel and providing the requisite physicality, mean, nasty, & edge needed to protect him. So should not come as any surprise that he opted out of Raleigh rather than get the stuffing knocked out of him for 82 games plus the postseason. Plus what veteran would want to play in RBA's joyless meat-grinder with the out-moded man to man defense & ridiculous old school dump & chase nonsense? Guentzel didn't ask to be traded to the Canes at the March, 2024 TDL. This was an easy decision for both him & his agent to play for Jon Cooper & the TBL instead as no one wants to play with a bunch of regular season show ponies. Vets want to be on a team with a legitimate chance at winning a Cup & that's quite clearly not the case with the Hurricanes. Guentzel was never going to be the answer for the Canes as the last thing the organization needed was another under-sized forward. They need scoring Centers with size & bringing back Drury, Staal, & Kotkaniemi none of whom are goal scorers is a complete joke. Someone needs to tell Eric Tulsky to get his finger out of the electrical socket, lose the cheesey 1970's perm, & get a #1 goaltender too. Time to move on from Staal, Martinook, Burns, KK & several other twilighting vets. This was an incredibly lazy & inept offseason by the Canes front office. There was no reason to extend Slavin eight years until he's 40. Jarvis getting an eight year deal after one decent season is also a complete head-scratcher & the Kotkaniemi OS and eight year extension continues to be an albatross for the organization as the dude's little more than an AHL level stiff at best. If RBA is such as great coach then why has Svech continued to struggled to improve so much? He spends more time in the penalty box than Charles Manson served in prision. By now he should be generating 30+ goals a season. The team is going nowhere this year as currently configured. Roslovic slotting onto the top line is also comical as he'd be a journeyman bottom six forward for any of the other contending NHL teams. And bringing back Ghost is also absurd as the guy plays no D & is soft just like the rest of the Canes roster full of under-sized mighty mites.
Mark, you're hitting on a whole boat load of things here. Agree with some, disagree with others. I think what gets lost in all of your words is the fact that the organization has turned a corner in its perception around the league each and every year. They are not a bottom dweller. So, you have to give them a certain amount of credit unless you're just deeming everything they do turns to poo...and we just won't agree. Now, you have valid points on KK, Staal, Burns...but your point on Gostisbehere, I believe, is off. When he was here initially, he was fine. Finding a PP QB and a solid pairing with Sean Walker is a huge win in filling the holes from Skjei and Pesce. I'm not sure what you want? I guess we could dress up a grizzly bear in a Canes kit and put him on the ice to maul the other team, but that style of play is exiting the game unless your Jacob Trouba
Just watched the Canes first preseason game. Drury played well as usual. If there's a less talented Center in the NHL than Jesperi Kotkaniemi I've yet to seen them. Absolutely horrendous hockey player.
Mark, you're always welcome to comment. I think for some, this is make or break for Jesperi Kotkaniemi. I still think he can prove it. But its entirely up to him.
@Sound_the_Siren The Canes have already wasted three seasons on KK as did the Habs. Had the Canes secured a legitimate 2C rather than an over-hyped 2018 draft bust they likely would have won some ECF & SCF playoff games by now. The kid has accomplished next to nothing in six NHL seasons so why are we pretending he's going to blossom in his seventh? It's way past time to move on.
@@marks6041 I know it's your opinion Mark. And perhaps you could be right.
Good stuff guys, great landing Greg! He was really good about sharing his thoughts and looks like he had fun.

@@bryonlleras4595 he was! Thanks!!
I think they should treat Eric Tulsky's press conferences & Donald Trump's debate appearance like any softball game. And invoke the mercy rule whenever things become too lopsided. I wasn't sure whether Trump was an infantile three year old or a senile & delusional 78 year old through-out the entire two hours. Either way I haven't witnessed a beat down that severe since Ken Norton KO-ed Duane Bobbick in 58 seconds in 1978.
What about Ken Norton getting George Foreman'd in 1974?
@@soundthesirenfancast George Foreman possessed an intimidating power that few in boxing history could ever match. He did that to a lot of guys. Foreman & Earnie Shavers didn't match up as well against slick boxers as neiither had great stamina or the mobility to avoid punches. Shaver's right hand was lethal though. If either of those two connected in the early rounds it was a short fight and a painful end for anyone on the receiving end.
I find any interview or press conference involving Eric Tulsky to be painful & cringe worthy beyond the pale. Amazing that any professional hockey franchise or organization would rely on an individual that socially awkward & inept to be their customer facing spokesman & public mouthpiece. The first rule of tech sales is never put a geek or an enginerd in front of a roomful of customers or the media. Labeling a player that's had only one decent NHL campaign a "franchise cornerstone" is about as comforting as the grim reality of yet another season with Jesperi Kotkaniemi at 2C. And Jarvis wearing a tee shirt depicting a money grab was yet another crass, classless, & tone deaf albatross by the Canes marketing brain trust. But the icing on the cake was insecure & promoted at least three levels too far Tulsky explaining how the organization fleeced Jarvis with the $15.5m deferred payment in the ninth year of his contract. Way to prove to himself & anyone who hadn't already fled for a puke bucket that our curly top, patent generating, GM du jour is still after all the most intelligent person in the room. It's time to subject Eric to about three months of charm school to smooth out the rough edges. I've seen ants crawl across the floor that possessed more charisma and likability. Has the dude ever experienced even a single evening that involved eight hours of sleep since the millennium? His glassy eyes look like he just escaped from a methadone clinic. Bravo for yet another unwanted sequel to the Revenge Of The Nerds movie franchise.
You went into a lot of directions here.
