Hello there. My name is Keith, aka British chef. I live in England, and my wife lives in Russia. Follow me on my journey as I make trips to set up a permanent move and everything in between. I tell you straight to the point how things are good or bad. And if I can help a few people along the way, that would be amazing.

You are talking shit , the UK economy is a basket case not Russia's !!!
So its like this Putin..........Do one
1 Alphabet, 2 Speaking, 3 vocabulary, 4 reading, 5 grammar. Worked for me 30 years ago.
@@Dungshoveleux Thank you. I'm making progress. But I won't lie. I am struggling.
@BritishChef436 I never bothered with vocab beyond 2,000 words. I never bothered about grammar. The alphabet, pronounciation of letters and reading signs and your partner should ONLY speak to you in Russia in Russian.
Cannot fault your advice. Avantgarde are fine. I was going to use them but my account is in another bank, so I went to sberbank head office in moscow to change them because dealing only with 1 bank was preferable. And if Sberbank (the national savings bank) goes belly up then Russia will not be there. Be sure to put your funds on term deposit, link to your Russian SIM and install their banking app on your phone. Dual SIM phones are a must.
Thank you
British pounds are accepted. I changed mine without problem but they are not exchanged all over like EUR/USD.
2 years more, I think. I think the European economy is screwed. Russia has problems, but nothing like the west.
Steve Rosenberg is very anti Russian and they still let him ask questions.
Two faced slimeball , he was going to nuke us last week. Nut job👹
TH-cam would censor my full view. we are captured by old money on the right and davos on the left. Russia is our blood ally x20million. the blue and yellow team did use cluster on own people who held a referendum to join Russia. war will get BAD. because much bigger chess game afoot.
PUTIN IS A FOOL IF HE THINKS HE CAN TRUST THE BRITISH ESTABLISHMENT.
HE"S GOT A VALID POINT HERE...I GUESS..
Russia would be very foolish to EVER trust the British. They have a long and shameful history of perfidy.
It is easy to see who the bigger man and better leader is in this mess the west has made.
We don't deserve help from Russia they are better than British people
WHY on earth would Russia want to work with the UK (a blatant two-faced nation), especially after Boris the clowns attempt and deceit, to sabotage peace talks over the Ukraine war, yeah right, I think NOT somehow. Mr Putin is far too intelligent for that kind of deception, yet again.
Putin retreat, the undecleared war (SMO) is over!
Depends if our stupid prime minister is open to talks.
He isn't - unless America says it's okay.

Your a normal person who has a TH-cam channel, God bless and merry Christmas
Done that and got my kids and family the hell out of there before they got brainwashed
LOL - what are it interests ? Running coutries throught top down corruption? Stealing from their people and blaming the west while jacking them up on nationalism? If it doesnt want to be feared or taken seriously then maybe learn stop threating people with the use of nuclear weapons. "Without it's participation"? - Russia was given a seat at the table it rejected it when it invaded another country to extert its will on other people while playing the victim
I have a question what in your opinion is the SMO about, What in your opinion what does VVP goal to achieve ( you need to refer to the security council resolution which was passed ).Russia fought WW2 why.,and VVP lost family members to who.
They fought in WW2 because the Germans screwed them on a deal to carve up Poland. They fight in Ukraine because they want top down control of the country. Do you think Ukrainians should put up with having their leaders poisoned, extorted and bribed?
4.17 this year and you talk about the accreditation of the resident BBC reporter is something they tolerate because he been here so long normally he does not get the opportunity to twist questions
War, it’s a SMO there is no declaration of war
Derrick, are you afraid of something? I read all your comments, why don't you talk openly, everything you said, have a twist. Don't you know why a SMO in Ukraine, don't you know what is West, US, NATO agenda in this war? How well you know Russia, do you even want to know? There is many channels on YT, who can tell you everything you need to know, "Redacted" or Tacker Carlson for example.
@ truthfully redacted is still western based and TC I subscribe direct nothing to do with TH-cam, Me I am afraid of nothing and know what the agenda is, I know Russia better than you think and here since 1989, if you based your knowledge on channels like so then your understanding is below average and western based
@@derrickmoriarty7600 You silly Derrick, I am russian, and everything you saying, tells me that you know nothing, because you will have western mentality for the rest of your life.
@ such a political analysis lost a western mentality here in the 90s , so why your not in the service and at the front preaching your understanding..? Or your sitting conform zone outside the reach of conscription
@@derrickmoriarty7600 You are a sad Derrick, you making an assumptions based on what? Slava Rusia!!

My second visit to Minsk was cold, lots of snow and ice, walking to my apartment late one night i slipped on the ice and lost my apartment fob, actually just outside apartment building! I looked for it for ages but couldn't find it anywhere! I still had my keys but no access to the building. Anyway I thought about using the intercom to ask someone to open the door for me but I didnt actually know any Russian words I needed. I didnt know the russian words for key, door, fob, lost! Literally no words to help me! 🤦♂️ My russian was so poor at the time. Just very very basic! Also it was very late! So I waited and waited for someone to come to the apartment, well for over 40 mins actually! I never expected to wait so long so i was freezing! Then eventually a young girl walked up and opened the main entrance door with her fob and I quickly ran in behind her! She turned and looked at me, a little shocked and alarmed, but I didn't know how to explain my predicament to her in Russian, so I just held my hands up 🤷♂️ (i felt like an idiot) 😬 Well she hurried into the lift and I obviously let her go up alone but I felt awful frightening her like that 😬 Anyway I learnt 3 very Valuable lessons thats night! 1.Good boots! 2.Warm Coat 3.Lean Russian! 😂
@britinbelarus4434 😅😅😅 I can imagine how awkward that must have been. I made sure to learn First 🤣🤣🤣. Yes, I agree that language is a must. But it is tough. Can't believe I'll be back in Russia. I only 3 weeks. Time just goes by so quickly. Are you still in England?
@BritishChef436 And those 3 weeks will fly by too mate! Lol Yeah, I will be here for Christmas and go back out on 27th via Vilnius. Come back to UK often, dont miss it much tbh, but I do really miss my family here, alot! Honestly mate, my dream is to have direct flights again, would make it so much easier, Well one day! Lol 🙏 Yeah after that night I took the language far more seriously and the weather! Lessons learned! lol
During the Russian winter, valenki and galoshes for 60 pounds will be an excellent solution for shoes, for clothes it is a sheepskin coat for 100 pounds. Stylish, warm and for a long time, in terms of operation.
Oh, mate. Winter in SPB is on a whole other difficulty level. It's like, Italy is on an easy mode, Germany is normal, Moscow is hard. St.Petersburg is a hardcore nightmare. Because of the location, height, and winds, you are basically on a land ship. It is both cold and wet at the same time. Lived there for 27 years before moving to Europe. It used to be worse (way colder) in my childhood. 1999-2002 had winters with regular minus 25, 27. I also remember minus 34 one day. Outside of the city, it easily gets up to ten degrees lower, so minus 40 is not really that unprecedented. Of course, during the WW2 Blockade, it got to minus 42, even inside the city. Sure, those may look like rookie numbers for people in, say, Yakutia or Alaska, but remember the insane humidity that comes with it; humidity makes it way worse. You definitely need a second layer of clothing (at least keep it in your wardrobe) and a windbreaking layer. It's not an option; it's a must. Skiing equipment is one option if you don't mind the look. "Specialised" brands like North Face are overmarketed, IMO and nothing beats old good wool because it keeps you warm, even if soaked. You also need good shoes, especially in the early spring when everything starts melting, and the streets become very slippery. You need to learn how to walk on ice, and there are difficulty levels for that, too: soft ice, hard ice, wet ice, and wet ice under strong wind. And you need to tend to your shoes daily. Otherwise, the water and reagents they use on roads and path walks will destroy them in a matter of months. And you NEVER go out in the winter with an uncovered head and some scarf. Locals may do that (although it is pretty stupid, IMO), but visitors can't. You'll get sick immediately. Also, many people don't really know how to breathe in cold air and get sick because of it. People coming from warm places should cover their faces with a scarf or something similar, however stupid that may look. Just do it; no one will judge you.
I lived 30 years in Yakutsk and I will say that St. Petersburg has very warm winters. After living in the north, the Leningrad region feels like a garden
Britain has had snow this winter. 🌦
For those who are learning Russian or any other language - I advise you to watch as many videos with subtitles as possible. Of course, it would be better if these videos are interesting to you and you watch them not just because you have to learn the language!
Yes, -17 in St. Peter sometimes feels like -27 in Moscow because of the high humidity. But do you really have to be scared of that? Well, unless you spend hours walking around.
@@michaelv8633 I live in England. The average temperature is about 5 degrees in the winter. To go somewhere that is -17 degrees is a massive difference. Try watching the video before you make a comment. Because you obviously didn't listen to anything I said
I would take -20C in Novosibirsk than -5C in SPB
It's warm in the Krasnodar region, in winter it can even be +15-18°
SPB winters are quite not easy compared to other parts of Russia, even Moscow.
I'm pretty sure I explained this in the video.
I'm still waiting for winter, but it's lost somewhere.
Don't worry for that. Changing country to live in is an enormous stress and challenge. Everybody should understand this. It takes a lot of time too to cut a video etc. I think the most important such moments is first to set things at new place the way that you can feel yourself good or at least inspired to film it. Good luck and patience! And look for friends, may be first expats too which could share more insights and connections with you!
@dandelobo9284 Thank you. Yes, I made a video about this. It's important to prioritize things like language learning instead of pumping out videos every week.
Nice honeymoon, I hope🎉. Thank you for your desire to discover and experience something new. Being a Russian, I always watch your videos and admire the way you speak about my country. Those who respond in a negative way definitely stay home and do nothing, but you broaden your mind and horizons! Let them be their own judges. Relax and enjoy your new married life. Sanctions? Prices? Come to Russia, and you will be welcomed. Russians are generous people. The only sad thing is that we don't have a chance to admire the beauty of the UK now, but I strongly believe that everything will be fine! Be Jammy!
Thank you for such a wonderful comment. There will be videos from England coming next year. My wife is planning a trip to England soon.
"Sanctions are designed..." is a fally to say. The so called sanctions are utterly illegal under international law and are a form of economic aggression. The aggressors do not design so called sanctions, they simply try to destroy a country's economy. So that you know none of your so called sanctions ever destroyed any country's economy or bent their will, even those who are not self sufficient, unlike Russia, which is. Whilst you claim to be motivated by the wish to inform, unfortunately the effect is the opposite. Your video was emotional but low on facts and analysis. It is due to ignorance that one would attribute inflation to so called sanctions. You are falsely crediting western aggression. Inflation is an indelible part of an economic cycle. Look at Turkey, NATO country next door to Russia. It is not under any sanctions but inflation is running at 50%. Look at the Baltic states next door, or Romania with 5%. The illegal sanctions are not the cause of price rises as western propaganda trumpets. The illegal sanctions were supposed to stime the economic growth and in this sense they utterly failed.
