By the Side of the Road
มุมมอง 45512 ปีที่แล้ว
A Poem Written and Read by Rivers Cuomo I want to stop by the side of the road I want to throw up all that I've known I want to spit it up violent Like an exhaust pipe and toxic *gag* I just want to fall to my knees and *gag* until there's nothing left but my bones And I'll lie in the grass by the side of the road And I'll rub my hands in the dirt And I'll meet the worms and I'll rub my face in...

A song I wrote for my girlfriend 2 years ago. I just now got around to uploading it. I actually managed to get this one played on a college radio station haha.

UPDATED OCT. 2013: Watch the full live band version of this song here: th-cam.com/video/sQ18ZWAhEAg/w-d-xo.html I wrote it in an hour at 3am last night. Please forgive the very roughness of the recording. There are some mistakes. I will iron them out though. Hope you like it. LYRICS intro do you love me do you even care? Red album era Rivers was on another level
NO ONE TOUCHES ME LIKE U DO 💔💯
One on my fav weezer songs. Love it with all my heart, such underrated
this puts me to sleep
It’s a shame this never made an album. It’s a fantastic song
This comment made me realize this song is only on the deluxe edition of the album my jaw dropped holy cow
Headless weezer 🤣 in the early portion of the song at :41
Who’s on drums, no way that’s Pat?
Josh Freese! He now plays with foo fighters but freaking killed it during his time with the weez
I don't know if I'm getting the chills from my fever or from this video...
They finally played it again today
where? do you have footage ?
@@certainjeanRivers played it acoustic in Bangor, ME last year. I was there...I was so blown away I wanted to cry. Can't believe I was so lucky.
3:50 That alternate melody is great. kinda wish it was on the recording...
pinkerton deluxe, aka the deluxe version that has all of the B-sides that should've been on the original album
I feel like Scott messes up half the time
I cant think of any moment where Scott messes up.
brian bell my love
Rivers' voice sounds amazing here
Her camera cut off at the best part of the song.
This. THIS is their best song. You can say that Only In Dreams is greatest or The Greatest Man That Ever Lived is the best but nothing and I mean NOTHING will top this. This is Rivers peak at lyricism, guitar composition and song composition in general. It goes through so many changes that its insane. I think I’m pretty fucking confident in saying if Pinkerton was their Masterpiece, then this is their magnum opus of songwriting.
And it didn’t even make the album :(
@@oakoe188 technically it did with pinkerton deluxe also nice pfp
It's in my top 3 fs. Still got The Angel and the One at #1
Only in dreams is better, but this one hits me in the heart more
Subjectivity is a thing. I get why it is the best for you, though. It's right on top for me, but i like Only In Dreams and The Good Life just as much.
This was during finals week when I was doing my undergrad in college and I was taking an extremely difficult class that I couldn't skip out on. I won two tickets from a local radio station, but I couldn't go. I ended up giving it to my friend, and he went but the same day went with some friends to Galveston, so he was late and missed the first opening acts. I still don't let him live it down. On top of all of that, Friend of a Friend is one of my favorite Weezer songs, and was my favorite at the time. 😭
Good job weezer
🤣
I think Pinkerton deluxe might have the best b sides out of all the weezer albums
True
most definitely
yeah cause they made TWO perfect albums in 1995. Weezer was on their shit.
Make believe although it is a pretty mid album has some really good demos, like the demo for this is such a pity is way better than the final song
Wait til they release the green album/maladroit demos
I command your stubbornness without it we wouldn't have gotten this far
*everyone* knows the words <3
haha he forgot the words a little in the second verse
loved the singing coming from behind the camera :) I would've done the same
I think this song, rather than 'No Other One,' should have been on Pinkerton. Sequenced right before 'Butterfly' as the ninth track on the record. It would have made Pinkerton just as perfect as Blue, though in a completely different way.
Christy Smith You're not wrong, but there ain't no way I'm listening to Pinkerton without No Other One
Christy Smith the main reason why it wasn't on pinkerton, was because weezer recorded this song on their final sessions and almost completely forgot about this song. Rivers remembered that they made the song when pinkerton was being rereleased in a deluxe version and found the recording and put it on the record.
Not only that, but during that point in time Weezer would only fucking specifically put ten tracks on their albums.
tbh this doesn't belong on any part of pinkerton. it's pretty mediocre compared to the rest of the album
Komrade 🤔
getting that sad feeling knowing I'll probably never see my favorite song live, this is deluxe Pinkerton weezer may never play it again
Sophie L this was the first time they ever played it live
I'm like that with mykel & carli
Look up songs from the black hole
@@stewalters2011 mykel and carli is so underrated. it was the first weezer song i ever had on repeat
@@ok_jaja if you know pinkerton deluxe and not know songs from black hole you fucked up
holy sweet goddamn,,,,,, my heart breaks 1000 times at 3:47 when rivers sings "...but you're so pretty and I feel sorry"
Kyley I see what you did there with the holy sweet goddamn :,)
Holy cow I think you got a point there
Boy Pat's drumming is completely different here, really changes the energy of the song.
yeah there's a bounce during the prechorus that he missed
Thank you so much for uploading this!
So amazing!! How special to see this debuted!
Everyone is complaining about that guy on the drums but he's not missing a beat
Anthony Clarkson Pat is a pretty good drummer
@@AJS12001 Pat's actually not on the drums here, you can see him playing guitar on the right at points.
@@typalmer6850 Didn't even catch that
It’s Josh Freese. He’s a great drummer
@@Paul-dw2cl He's a great drummer, but there isn't much feel in his play. Almost like a human drum machine
Get Josh Freis off those fucking drums. I know its 2016 but I don't care. He should have never been on those drums.
Uhh is that Freese on the drums. Can't Pat just play the drums?
Pat nails the guitar solo tho.
David Beaucar “and pat should play the drums
You must’ve been happy af when you heard Back to the Shack for the first time
Man I love this song Pinkerton was the best album ever and this missing gem is like going into a time machine
If you told me 5 years ago this song would be played live I would have kicked you.
Coming at you 5 years after this comment and I'd say the same thing today. Hope I'm wrong considering they've been playing a lot of pinkerton stuff lately..
Poet_ Woah, you guys’ comments aren’t from years ago...nice to know you guys exist.
I think they played it once in 1997 but no video/photo exists, weezerpedia has the setlist tho
If you told me 11 years ago that they played this on a cruise that was fully dedicated to Weezer and some of their music friends I wouldn't believe you. Sounds like pure fantasy.
If you wanna see a full band version of it (finally)... my band played it live in this video for the weezer cruise submission! Check the video description or my channel.
This is great!
I hope to hear you perform this on the cruise :)
Very cool, I always thought this song was one of your cool ones!
I'm in like with this.
first!
Ur so good!!!
They already knew the song was coming. Rivers started it but played the wrong 2nd chord, stopped and said "oops, that's not good." Then he restarted it. This video starts right after that moment. Seriously.
Oh, I see.
I meant the deluxe version of Pinkerton.
Tragic Girl wasn't on Pinkerton.
DamnedGamers its the deluxe version
should have been
wish it was
Charles Thompson is the absolute king of songcrafting. Nice to see Weezer pay some obvious respect, but I kind of wish they would have called it quits after Pinkerton really...
Really? I like Maladroit and the green album.
On the weezer cruise.
this is shit hot
Haha, okay, I know you. Thanks mate. And yeah, Tragic Girl is perfection.
Yep, haha. I'm "anoobiestopsign". Only 80ish posts though, I don't frequent it that often. Anyway, I like your taste. Tragic girl might be my favorite off of Pinkerton.
