I didn't realize they added this. Pretty handy. I think Tzeentch is another faction that gets a lot of little research rate increases through buildings and characters. Kairos could still use a touch up on his tree, but it sounds like those increases will at least be more noticeable now and make it easier to unlock all the changing of the ways abilities.
This will definitely benefit any factions with lots of tech, but especially the Lizardmen, who get lots of incremental bonuses to research rate, but still have very robust research times. If this helps use those smaller buffs to save maybe one in three, one in four turns, it'll make a huge impact.
Vampire counts can benefit a lot from this too due to stealing research hero action with their very high action success chance (Isabella) and hero action cost reduction and they get a character trait that increases hero action success even more so pretty much guaranteed surplus research.
I'm going to be testing gelt with his unlimited wizards.
Just started a IE with kairos and migrated straight to ku'gath, shall see where it goes from there.
Nice
Archaons research will go even faster now
oooo I forgot about him. I still think my Skaven take the cheese on the research rate though
Stealing technology with heroes is actually worthwhile now too.
If you're stealing from the start it's a huge difference Balthazar gelt has a huge buff to his campaign now.
I know this has nothing to do with the topic of the video but how do you play zhatan´s campaign now since you can´t rely on kholek to help fight grimgor for you in the early game and you can´t kill kholek early since you start with a non agression pact with him. I would assume you either just rush grimgor or somehow get a defensive alliance with tamurkhan. Thanks your content is great
I did a Zhatan campaign fairly recent and it was mostly a case of getting into cathay early, establishing some decent income, manage your diplomacy so that it doesn't piss off Grimgor too much early (small gift if you really have too, but your long term allies wont like that) and then mountain hop either Zhatan (but you will mostly need him in Cathay) or your 2nd lord back from Nan Gau too the Volary for T3 troops (it's ussualy also around the time you can buy a couple of unit cap upgrades) to deal with Grimgor. 2-3 squads of blunderbussies will melt him when he charges into their firing zone, so you dont really need a lord that can straight up fight him (being able too pin him for a bit is deffo nice though). Or, depending on how the non-player faction buffs fall Tamurkhan (or even Kholek) might take care of the problem for you.
You let Tamurkhan kill him and then after taking our Grimgor you take Tamurkhan's lands. Ill do a video on this
Gotta think Tomb Kings will also like this change. Every little bit of extra research will help accelerate their army unlocks.
I don't feel like this is the best start. I enjoy this: 1. Sack tobaro. Steal research. Take Tobaro. Recruit second lord at Skavenblight, grab 3 clanrat spears. Recruit skavenslave slingers on Ikit. Expansionist planning on skavenblight. 2. Move Ikit up the mountain in regular stance. Recruit more slingers. Force march second lord up, donate clanrats to ikit. Food rite activated. Switch to food rite on Skavenblight. 3. Underway stance to Herdstone with both lords. 4. Take Herdstone, recruit more slingers. 5. Find Morghur, kill him. Nuke him if you have to. 6, 7 or 8. Spend this time fighting Morghur and Lupio. Settle Lupio's city at tier 4 or 5. Onwards: Dominate the rest of the campaign.
Steal research doesn't make a giant difference as it lasts 3 turns and the first research is completed in 1 turn. I'd rather put him in the army for additional oomph. My recomendation would be to abandon and resetlle skavenblight as getting it to tier 5 asap is worth it because all 3 unique buildings are a big boost. You can leave magritta for later when you have more food, saking it a few times is a good source of food and exp.
Just judging from your actions in the Diplomacy menu here is a few tips. You can double click on a city owned by a faction to open up to them in diplomacy. Additionally while not in the proposition page but the faction selection page you can click on the icons that your selection faction is trading/war/alliance/defensive with to quickly navigate to them. It really really speeds up diplomacy without having to scroll through each known faction. Thanks for the video and hope this helps.
This army comp gets completely neutralised by artillery.
You should have put a farmer hat on Tamy for the thumbnail
Opportunities missed
Fine idea. The con is that your campaign is already basically over now at turn 50. For that you need to rush your cultist there, that you want to use in your armies ideally. So i think Nurgle is worst cult user out of 4. Slaanesh and Tzeentch are best (in different ways), and Khorne just doesn't need to do them.
You can start this on turn one
@VSO_Gun_Channel i don't think you can get cultist on turn 1. You get it on turn 5. You also need to get to Festus, and only then start to do shenanigans
@@nikitclaw4770 exactly this is pointless in so many ways not to mention cheesing.
An important aspect of the Intricate Preparations cult building (-80% Changing of the Ways cost) is that it is not empire unique and stacks. Which means that with two of them you can use any Changing of the Ways action for free, no matter how expensive it usually would be. You could break a 100 turn enduring alliance between Dwarfs and force them into a war at the same time.
Interesting stuff. Two tips: 1. You can start diplomacy with a faction by double clicking on a settlement or lord of theirs on the campaign map. 2. You can switch to a faction they are at war with, if you have highlighted them in the diplomacy overview and just click on the icon of one of the factions they are at war with. This does not work int he screen where you are actually negotiating.
I like the idea, but this feels like a lot of work for like 1k-2k gold income. The problem with the idea stems from the fact that your legendary lord has to be setting this up due to his teleport and his time is so much more valuable than this. They should buff cults and make them more like Skaven undercities. I recently tried them and came to the conclusion I would rather have the cultists in my army.
cool. makes me want to try a Nurgle camp.. How are you lvl 50 at turn 50?
Hyper aggression
@@VSO_Gun_Channel even with Skarbrand I cannot manage that.
Your videos are always so cool and informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. You are genuinely one of the few total war youtubers that doesn't beat around the bush and gets to the point
What is a cult magus?
Underrated stuff man
So which elves factions would be best to turn into vassals?
I think the nurgle cults should have the ability to spread passive to adjacent regions with high corruption. Say, any permanent building gives you a flat 2% chance of that happening every turn
Awesome thank you for the video
Mage-us
I think you'll find out Slaanesh has the most impactful cults now. The -80% seduction cost is insane and the parallel production of multiple Magus Cults allows you to quickly vassalize any eligible faction no matter how big
nurgle loves you ♥
How do you justify reducing melee attack on a unit that is a wheel with rotating blades? They would turn anything they are facing into mince meat.
This makes me want to see a Doom Flayer race track anime with Skaven drivers. or at least like a 10 min animated skit
I wish that chariots had a mode where you could set them to not stop in melee
try charging infantry not spearmen
Papa Nurgle.
Love this, I never run full weapons teams armies anymore, always bring 2-4 doom flayers. I find it makes the army far less vulnerable if I make mistakes since they make for awesome blockers on the flanks... or to tie down enemies so the poison wind mortars get easier shots!
I always equated Doom Flayers with Rat Ogres and Doom Wheels with with either of the SEMs. Selection of which ones to use would depend on the lord I chose. Warlock Engineers got the machines and Warlords would get the monsters. This would also guide my red line skills for the lords as well. I like the whole roster and I use every troop type in my campaigns. And as someone also said, play the Ogres. I'd love to see a review.
Shouldn't Doomwheels be able to do similar things if not better? They have better stats and a ranged attack on top that can be used while charging. Why the preference of Doomflayers over Doomwheels as mounts?
Doomflayers received an increase in the number of models, which greatly increased their dps. They are much more mobile than a clumsy wheel and less vunerable. And now they have an insane 1500 mass for such a unit, while the wheel is 2000 (this is very low for a large SEM) Doomwheels always was bad actually and now they are just outdated and need full rework similar to the one steam tanks got (hopefully)
@@FoReJeR Thank you for explaining, that makes sense. Is the maneuverability of Doomflayers so much better that they are preferrable even as mounts where the entity count doesn't apply?
I just discovered you from your skaven tips today. Your content is great man. Got a new sub
I only use war machines for distraction, this did not change my mind.
play the ogres
I'm halfway through an Ikit campaign at the moment. The doom flayers are capable of creating chaos even pre-patch on light infantry that is on the move (not braced). With some practice you can almost solo early game armies in field battles zooming around with a unit of doom flayers. But it takes a lot of careful micro-management to keep them from getting stuck, and this becomes very difficult as the compaign advances and you face bigger armies with stronger units. At that point there are other Skaven unit choices that out-perform on infantry for the cost, so the doom flayers get benched. Hopefully the increased mass will make using these guys more forgiving and useful in the later game, they are quite fun.
This is actually huge. I never thought of this, didnt know that disbanding KEPT THE EFFECTS! Nor that Bell Polisher cant be aquired if the hero/lord has it. Not to mention that its a tech tree option to unlock Hellpit attendant. This is all so important to know! Actually amazing info.
I'm not sure why but i often find doom flayers to be easy to recruit on the front lines. The amount of times that I need to recruit a new army after someone declares war on me and the best unit I can recruit in the same zip code in a doomflayer... so being able to use them for something more than auto resolve should be fun
Hell yeah this change makes me more likely to use doomflayers. At 1500 mass they will move so much better. I'd update right now but I'm in the middle of a CD campaign with a few mods and don't wanna break my game. I'm glad they toned down general offensive capability and upped the anti-infantry bonus without lowering defense. It was such a cool unit but felt so bad to use. Now it's gonna be decent if not great since they can actually disengage from bad fights now.
Yes! Just played another skaven campaign and I was disappointed in the doom flayers
I’m very pleased to see that you have a gaming channel! It’s going to be entertaining to go through your backlog
what other channel does he have then?
@@nicky640 VSO gun channel

@@crosscemon thanks!
Nurgle please!
If you play as The Changeling, Cults are your only buildings. The Changeling is so wonderfully broken (OP). Sack Atldorf inside 10 turns, now you get a tank every 10 turns. Then get The Green Knight. 90% Physical Resistance, and Armor, and Ward & Spell Save.
<3
I finished yesterday a Skarbrand campaign finishing all campaign goals from short to ultimate and had about 300 regions. Had absolutly no cults. I even forgot that I could make them. Why waisting my heroes for that if I need them in my armies? Plus Khorne armies move faster through the map than heroes could.
Yeah, I dont think Khorne currently benefits much from them. But maybe with more lords
I'd love to see a nurgle cult maxing guide
