It's a Knockout! A strange MULTI-EVENT game for 1-6 PLAYERS on Commodore 64
It's a Knockout, Ocean, 1985, Commodore 64 version
Many of us love multi-event sports games which you can play against your friends. This one is also such a game - only with very bizarre, crazy events. With a group of friends this game is actually fun. Couple of the six events I enjoy playing as one player game as well.

Super Tank Simulator on C64 ALL LEVELS, funny POKES and more!
มุมมอง 14614 วันที่ผ่านมา
Super Tank Simulator, Codemasters, 1990, Commodore 64 version Codemasters named quite many games as "something simulators". Same story with this game, but as with the other "simulators", there is no actual simulator here either. Instead, this is a game I can recommend to all tank game fans, as well as shoot'em up game fans. If you don't expect a simulator, you probably find this game quite enjo...

มุมมอง 283หลายเดือนก่อน
Commando 86 and Duet, Elite, 1986-1987, Commodore 64 version Many know this game as Commando 86. The game was published with a new name DUET on a six game pack as a seventh, "free extra game", as it clearly had very little in common with Commando, and quite a lot in common with Gauntlet. Did you like this game? A very good Gauntlet-type game from Denmark is Vikings. Here is my video: th-cam.com...

Pretty sure the last game is called Karateka.
Sorry. It's not Karateka...
atari or something
These are Commodore 64 games. Some of the titles may also have an Atari version.
Its weird alright, but technically not bad al all.
TKO is cool
It's a Knockout was real. It was a TV show where teams in crazy foam outfits competed against each other in silly games. The international version was called Jeux sans frontières and had teams from various countries. As far as I can tell Finland never took part.
OK, thanks for the additional info! I never knew of such TV show, but did play this game quite often. Interesting, I always wondered from where the idea for a game like this comes from.
Ooh, thanks for raising awareness! This game looks fun!
Thanks! Funny, that's exactly what I promised myself when I started making these videos. Each video should increase awareness of either less known C64 games, or at least I should have something new to say/show in case the video is about a game well known.
I was a huge pirate, but I never had any of those. The only Missile Command clone I had on the C64 was Red Alert, which was a type-in game from one of the magazines. I downloaded it from a BBS, I didn't type it in myself. Actually, i have a weird memory about this game. I had an Atari trackball, which had both joystick and trackball modes. For some reason, I remember Red Alert working with it in Trackball mode. However, I once tracked down a copy of the magazine that it was in, and the article doesn't say anything about it supporting the Atari trackball. Maybe I downloaded a modified copy? It did work with joystick as well.
The street sports series were all great to play, personally I enjoyed the baseball most (in two player mode preferred but had to play against computer most of the time). Basketball indeed was probably the best in the series. There isn't much of a modern equivalent of the street sports series with that backyard charm and sloppy individual characters is there?
Meh, never heard of any of those, but I played something similar on a PC. It was a SVGA era, so it looked better than these. Missile Defense is expectedly technically superior, but they are all very same in essence.
Well, the main sprite does look like commando, but gameplay is Gauntlet- like.
In the intro, the music from the film "profondo rosso" by Dario Argento
Oh, interesting! Seems outside Italy the film was published with the title "Deep Red". Not sure if I have seen it or not, my friend used to be a big fan of Argento movies and also I had a chance to watch some of them.
I remember the 3rd one as "puc-man". Hungry Horace would also sort of fit in this list.
2.hard drivin 3. Chase hq. 1.hang on
Very well done technically. Also looks interesting, but i dont know much about Judo to be the judge of that.
The 1st 1 is so damn annoying.
Back in the 80s, I used to call the company Crapcom for their terrible home ports. Yes, they put out some good games, but a lot of the home ports of their games were terrible. I did like the US version of Street Fighter though. It wasn't great, but I thought the graphics were nice.
This takes me back... especially the knife-chucking bit.
it' a Friday the 13th / Gauntlet clone...
Yes. Some enemies here do look like Jason in Friday 13th.
16bit games should be developed on 16 or + machines. Those conversions are just crap. 100000 times better international karate
Both versions was a valiant attempt tbf. But it was always going to be a huge ask to replicate the arcade game on the C64, particularly given tight deadlines back then. I can understand the reasons for both approaches, which meant sacrificing different aspects. Packaging both games together as a single release was at least a nice consideration for the C64 gamers, giving slightly better vfm. Somewhat of a damage limitations exercise. It's still better than the two terrible versions of Double Dragon, which were released separately by different publishers.
i did not played this one, it is supercool
Great looking game, almost 16-bit graphics quality.
They did a great job with recreating Jan Hamner's soundtrack on C64.
Music was great. I am one of those people who actually liked the game, solved it as well as a kid, found "Mr. Big". I had to keep my C64 powered on for many days to make it happen, as there was no save-option, as in modern games. Good memories!
@@finnishretroguy9952 Funny, I've just finished watching "The Glades" ep. on TV some 30 minutes ago. 😉 But you're right, many C64 games did not have the save option unfortunatelly. Not sure if it's now possible with the modern Emulators like Vice or Denise.
I would think emulators make many games easier, in many ways.
There is an initialization command for this. You don't have to open the drive for this. OPEN1,8,15,"I":CLOSE1
Pretty good graphics.
I've troubles at beginning a new game, commands don't respond neither in joystick port 1 nor port 2. Can someone help me please?
Ok, I've got it eventually. F5 to select and F7 to start a new game 🤣
The music of Tim Follin. Unmistakable style one of my favorite authors for c64!! Which musician do you like for C64?
There are so many. It all started with Rob Hubbard and Martin Galway. I think Tim is in the top 10. Jeroen Tel also comes to mind among others.
@@JoachimWijnhoven71 It's true there are many. It's difficult to choose a favorite.
Tough choice. Both are good.
Good game,I preferred world games but great times
Who cares what you think you alcoholic dwarf
Much better technically than the first part.
Too tough! I only know I played game 2 more than I have the rest, though I certainly recognise some others. At least they seem like games I would have enjoyed, because of atmosphere. The Egyptian themed one seems interesting, I know I tried it on emulator, never had it on original though.
@5:53, 6:33 Impossible Mission
The scream used in Impossible Mission can also be heard later in the game, during the final battle.
Unplayable crap. Could be great if properly balanced and designed. And after removing this GIANT BS LETTERS!!!
Unplayable, unfinished, bad "game" with horrific music.
Yes the music is something some players probably just need to turn it off. I am one of those who actually enjoy the game music, at least to the point where the high notes keep coming. From there onwards I can fully understand why so many players are "allergic" to that one. Something with lower notes would also probably fit the game's "dark" atmosphere somewhat better.
@@finnishretroguy9952 Yes. The game always was an unfulfilled promise for me. It is so cliche and unpolished, designed to look good on screenshots only. Especially cheap deaths on elevators are annoying. Game not tested, made by amateurs.
Vertical shooter part feels a bit generic. The platform part is much better
Love the game concept!
Played the first one long time ago. Was nice to destroy those buildings!
This brings back memories!
Will try this one soon!
Played this a lot with my brother in the 80s! Nice!
Must check this one again! Lovely tunes by Mr. Beben!
Addictive!
Great game!
when the guy gets hit it sounds like he's taking a really bad deuce
Mad egg!!!!😁
Radarsoft had some very nice titles, but often with very awful music renditions. Shame really, as some games would be a lot better with an original soundtrack behind it.
Unfortunately music in game 2 is corrupt.
Nice vid! Sorry but did you play the sound with a 8580 chip? It was meant for 6581.
Yes, seems I did.
Just made the comparison. As you suspected, 6581-chip sounds right for game 2. Now that the video is already published, seems the crazy 8580-chip version of the music will be the selection on this video. I feel both sad and on the other hand amused by this... Thanks for the feedback though, this is a good lesson learned for my videos in future.
I met him at a local C64 enthusiasts meeting where he talked a little bit about his game developing experience in those days. Mostly about how his games would sell for about two weeks and then they would be pirated.
Very cool. There was also a 'bad ending' I got once back in the day, but I cant remember exactly how i did it, I think I cut the guy free and got the chopper, but just flew to the border instead of rescuing the guys in the camp first. I have to replay it again.
This sounds interesting! I need to try this also.
@@finnishretroguy9952 Just tried it, and my mistake. Doing what I said just triggers what you got in this video, endless waves of bad guys for breaking sequence. The real way to get the bad ending is to not free the POW tied up and just go directly to the helicopter.
