ABLETON MOVE IS HERE - Is it worth the Price Tag?
This is actually very helpful. I use OTT but of just let it come through softly because i kept doing this accidentally and my sounds were all over the place. (Im more of fine artist that tries to make music, so i have no idea what im doing haha) Thanks!
Where is that guitar sample pack from, please?
This is not true and not working at all!
CHEEEERS
Before you do this, try inverting phase on the bass drum or the snare.
ok but that means you're no longer making music and I mean that in a sense that you're avoiding making music how you really want to make way for loudness or whatever and you can keep doing that by not aligning anything with anything if you know what I mean
omg just lower the master
Whoa! Thank you!
Cool Video, Thanks! I have used Saturn2 in a similar way for a while but need to learn this pluggin for my stock only clients, great video, it really helped, Thanks|!
Glad it helped! I'll admit in still use Saturn more lol but roar is super cool 😎
Great video, Vince. Thank you. I just got my Pro-4 yesterday! I noticed right away that when viewing ALL tracks for collision my list (to the upper right) does not show colors as your does. I wonder why. I am on Logic Pro 11. I wonder if it's a Logic thing (?)
It could be a logic pro thing mine is always color. I would just contact their support they are usually very helpful. All the best.
that transient sounded like sh*t anyways 🤓
5600 Ryzen and 11 was almost half the cpu load. Something nasty is going on in 12 vs 11.
I got a i9 core a few months ago and all my perchance issues just vanished! However I gotta say it's a loud laptop! Can't have everything I guess.
@@vxd Yep.
Awesome! Gotta try this.
cool!
Great tips! Theres some cool possibilities here
Great agree!
This is great - this is great - thanks for posting this.....I asked other people, but there's been NO RESPONSE......
Well I'm glad it helped !
i think if the drummer has a good pocket and you start delaying the snare, thats not good man lol
Makes sense
can I drag and drop wav files/samples into impulse? Thank you.
Yes you can
And with Ctrl + Alt + L you will close both of them (Clip + Device)
Cool
This changes the groove depending on if you go forward or back. Alot of people up a limiter so the threshold of only hits the delta of the kick and snare
Agree to some extent
This was great! Looking forward to trying it out
great! let me know how it goes!
now with jungle music ;)
give it a go!
Any idea if there is a key retrigger button if you use midi?
not sure man, sorry
how do we export the pattern into a MIDI clip?
create antoher midi channel and use the sq sequencer channel as input, press record and it will record it.
a few people have asked this already so I made a quick video response here.. th-cam.com/video/Mh2BlNFsdUg/w-d-xo.html
Great breakdown!
Glad it was helpful!
Better effect and more controllable with auto pan , set phase to 360 so we get a tremolo effect
great idea!
Not only that. It added a groove to the robotic drum pattern.
exactly!
Thanks!
Amazing thank you ❤️
I like when my drums clip
thats very usefull, thank you for this advice
Glad it was helpful!
noice, finally a way to reduce peaks without annoying clipping
exactly!
You could also use a mono delay, adjust the wet knob to 100%, and then adjust the feedback by a very small amount.
On which instrument will the mono delay go?
do transient shapers do the same thing?
nope, check my video for transient master for more info, its a bit old now, but gives you some info th-cam.com/video/fchLTmvtWsc/w-d-xo.html
Just side chain the kick so it ducks when the snare hits...right?
lol no
I am gona try this with a techno kick and longer aggrotech like snare. I am curios how much of a difference it will make. How ever what happens at the end with the delay? Should it be then automated. So you dont end up everything running away from each other? I will also try clipping it at the same time.
try it in small doses, 1 millisecond wont make much difference..
@vxd Tried it already: Holy fuck does it makes a difference. I also came quickly to the conclusion if the sounds "masks" long enough you can cut alot of it away. You don't even need to add a delay. Idk why I didnt spot it earlier. Thanks to gaining so much more db room you can litteraly increase also the db from each percussion sound. It does also improve being able to hear effects like distortion alot better. Instead of a true delay you can litteraly put it of the grid slightly. Does nearly the same.
@m.t-thoughts8919 exactly, sometimes doing things like making the delay or reverb tails shorter also clean the mix up so yeah it's good 👍
@@vxd Now I wonder if there is a "rule": What if with each new track element which you add you should increase the off grid amount even further/track delay. But also should the main elements of you track be occationally hit on the same grid to keep it together? Since you may use a clipper or side chaining it could get rid of the con: Masking again when it hits on the same grid.
@@m.t-thoughts8919 hey there I would try it but also use your ears to ensure it still sounds good.
Great tip! Thank you
You are so welcome!
These tutorials are great thank you
Thanks much appreciated
Is this a funkction of ableton 12? Doesn't work for me..
Works in all abletons
that's true, I'm doing the same hak in fl studio but in another way, simply, I'm not sticking to the greed😉
Ok 👍
Using latency to shift the time? Genius. Love it. 5 friggin stars dude. 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Cheers 🍻
in this case if the waveforms are not adding up it means they are subtracting, wich will cause phase distortion. i always flip the phase so it the peaks are as loud as possible, so i know there are no phase issues
Great idea!
I agree with your general idea, but the peak being the loudest doesn't necessarily mean that your samples are as well phase-aligned as possible. You could have a massive peak and still cause destructive interference in the lower frequencies and lose body. When I layer stuff I pay more attention to the low end than the peak levels.
This is awesome!!! I usually solve this by grouping the kick and clap together and adding a touch of clipping but I NEED to give this method a try! Thanks for sharing
No.worries I hope it helps!
I've been doing this for 20 years to help with humanization but never realized it helps control peaks. great tip for both benefits!
You probably made your mixes sound better without realising it.
It's sample dependant, so who knows if it controlled them
@@carsoncarr-busyframes619 Really? 20 years and you didn't notice that?
Thanks. With Shift + Tab you can toggle between them
Great tip! Thanks!
Any ideas why it wouldnt be working? Nothing happens when I click curve or start to my legato bassline. The sound pitch remains the same.
No idea without seeing what you've done. Best thing to do is contact ableton support, they are pretty good.
Just record claps and never quantize.
Good idea
Depending on the drums, constructive or destructive interference will come into play, especially with deeper snares. Check in an oscilloscope and/or spectrogram to see what's actually getting removed, and make sure you're not accidentally losing power! Sometimes, though, this could create a slightly cleaner result than a clipper or limiter (since those introduce distortion in this case), and a delay of a few milliseconds would be unnoticeable, especially with claps like the one used here. Very unique idea overall; I'll definitely give this a try in my own projects!
Thanks hopefully it helps your projects!
lots of words knowing you only wanted to correct the guy here who called thic CLAP a SNARE... like cmon man
I think condition will play only on certain times around. For example, if you put it to 4 it will play only every 4th time.
Thanks, it still confuses me a bit though...
Correct. If set to negative values, e.g. -4, it plays 3 times and leaves out the fourth (while when set to positive, it only plays every 4th iteration...)
A “Humanize” function goes a long way in improving the feel and apparently, according to this video, it improves the headroom too! I use “Humanize” all the time in Studio One
Great idea, something I didn't think of actually
Same, I use MPC 2's humanizer all the time, never really thought about it positively affecting the mix
