This build made my heart go pitter pat. My Dad would have loved it. We tend to rig and fix on the fly. That topper will be around for another 50 years. Love to see you put a bed box and counter in there. You could even include running water and compost toilet in there. Great for travel to distant car shows
Es is electric shift and yes that is the way u shift it
I have same bike jus got to pulling the head and found three crush gaskets on the head
Do you have the metric measurements you chose for both tires? I have the same year TS185 and I have wanted to the same thing you did here for some time now. Could never figure out the conversion for the tires. Thanks.
Looks like I am about to split my 1971 TS185 for crank seal replacement. Can I ask what special tools you used and where did you get them? (case splitter, flywheel puller etc) I've split engines before but it has been a long time and I have never been inside this particular engine, so I appreciate your video to help prepare me for what's inside. New subscriber.
I got the crankcase splitter off of Amazon. I would suggest getting the puller installer combo. I'm sorry, I don't have a link. Easy enough to find by just doing a search for crankcase splitter. As for the flywheel , jest a standard puller should work. Good luck and just take your time and keep track of where parts go and you will be fine. take lots of pictures.
@@billjones3527 Yeah, I plan to be very methodical and careful if I end up replacing seals. Still kinda hoping my problem is carb based so I don't have to split engine. But that hope is fading. Lol
Very useful info! I was stumped how to get inside my water damaged 1971 TS185 tach. I am concerned about long term reliability using gasket maker to re-assemble....I was thinking some epoxy might be a better choice.
In hindsight I probably should have used epoxy.
@@billjones3527 I cleaned and lubed both speedo and tach, and they turned out excellent! Your video gave me the needed info to do it myself, and probably saved me a couple hundred dollars! Thank you!
EXELENTE TRABAJO SUZUKI 186
Thanks
Very nice!
Thanks!
I own serial number 14772 1971 TS185. Mine is missing the lights & gauges. Everything else seems in excellent shape! Really looking forward to starting mine soon as I find a oil tank! Mine also has the same difficulty finding neutral. I figure from sitting so long and the clutch being sticky.
Great prices on those lanterns. I'm lucky to find a 220 or 228 for under $15 around here.
Nice work, it really turned out good, and sweet truck
I reckon it turned out good too. Be neat to get the 90 running
Good job.
Leave the bike alone and buy a lawn mower engine mini bike from someone in your community with a 5 HP motor .!
Please when the bike has cooled off remove the muffler sanded down and spray some quality high temperature black paint and yes sell it for around $1000
Do not rev the engine high let the motor warm up at normal idle for three mins sir
Of course a new ped cock need be replaced with a new one sir
Use a torque wrench to the manual specs torque adjustment sir thanks !!
A hammer with a rubber tap to compress the head down to the engine will help you much easier
A tacky sticky roller for your back to remove hair that maybe human or animal for a better cleaner view will be nice
Sir spread some oil around the piston and rings before trying to place it in the top end
Why is no one talking abt the blood under the door on the floor
Great find and great work Bill. Those little 100s sell for quite a bit, or your grandkids will love it.
I had the purple version of this bike!
Im only 24, but i love these old bikes. The new bikes are cool and all, but nothing beats wrenching on the oldies
My first bike was the exact same
This Yamaha is identical to my second bike. Was a great fun and reliable bike.
Like a Rock 😏👍
I would like to know what size wheels and tires you have on your C10? Also the offset on the rims on the rear? I like the stants you have on your truck. I have a 69 GMC C1500 I'M getting ready to order tires for it and I would like to get 10" wheels for the rear. I have 275/70/15s on all four corners of it now with 8" rally wheels on it now. 7:55 7:48 7:51
Bill would you be willing to tell me what size tires you have on your green C10 . And are they 5 lug or 6?
Sure, tires are 275/60-15 on the back and 255/6-15 front. I think the rear backspace is 4.5”. This is a 5 lug truck. 1971
Great video you’ve definitely got the content and camera angle down but I think if you practice talking in front of the camera a little bit in your free time you could probably cut down the dead space between thoughts keeping attention. If you could get this down to about a 15 minute video I think it would be perfect but keep up the good work you’ll get there.
Can't watch this...
Talk wayyyyy too much about things that have no value to the video
Ahh hope you ahhh are um ahh are well ahh able to get ahh your videos cut ahhh down shorter
Paint it
Thanks for the comment, this one never did clear up. What I meant by .05 over is equivalent to one half millimeter. I’m actually going to 1mm . That’s the next size. Apparently they used to be able to go 3/4 mm over , but nobody sells that piston.
Howdy you can tell when a bite has bad seals in it . Pretty easy on 2-stroke they never seem to clear up. You said that that piston was 50 over is that the same as if you were boring a car Engine 50 over is pretty big I wasn't aware on those cylinders how far you could go and if you even wanted to go a whole lot more as it would cause heating issues and everything else plus too thin of a cylinder but I don't know. I remember those Suzuki 185s those things ran like scalded Apes I've had a few Two Strokes Suzuki's in my day. I believe I told you about the 500 with the Dual range gearbox my God that was my favorite bike all in all. My friend had a Star Wars factory paint job on a Kawasaki 1000, I used to ride all day long beside him. I can tell you in the long run in my tall gears he could never lose me it would seem like that bike just had legs like he couldn't believe. Anyhow I know you'll get the bike running the way it should and I'll be right here watching. Thanks for the videos
Friendly suggestion, remove tailgate. Bring engine lift in from the rear, lift with a cross beam lifting bar. I put a cinder block in bed to change center of gravity by shifting block. The best bed dolly is an old kitchen table, (found mine for free on marketplace)mount 4 swivel casters on table top corners, now flip table over with legs pointing up, and leaves removed, upright legs are now adjustable for different lengths to accommodate under bed cross members 😊
Love the name love the truck
What ur model van you take it out off
I thought about that, I was afraid it would have gotten in the way of that plastic sheet that connects all the lights and gauges together. I really didn’t want to have to deal with all that. This kinda gives it that 70’s hotrod look , which is really what I’m after anyway.
I am curious as to why you did not try and fit it into the factory instrument cluster it looks like it would fit perfectly with a bit of fitment giving you a more cleaner look.
great video. nothing like gm cars easy to maintain n cheaper parts everywhere
I owned that exact same model year of the TS-185 Sierra. Great bike, loved it, wish I still had it!
I have a 77 ts185 parts bike if you want it. Im in Virginia.
Do you happen to have the gauges and head/tail lights? Mine is a 1971 and missing both
Man , what a little beauty ! Way back when my Sister bought one new , at the time I had a 175 CZ I was racing enduros on . I took her Bike for a ride on the street & in the woods and realized with a couple little tweaks it would have been a better race Bike than the CZ , enjoy that pearl ...
🤣🤣🤣🤗😉
A little of marvel mystery oil in the gas tank once the engine gets a good rebuilt even 3 ounces of whiskey in the tank ..😂
After the whiskey shots please rebuild the entire motor !! 😊
