I actually haven't used the eBay API (and I haven't made a custom gpt model either yet, but I want to do both!). Anything is possible with the right dev. In terms of the eBay visits, one thing that really helped me is to do the % of selling price ads. You can pick a % and you only pay eBay when and if your item sells. That said it does add to the fee so you'll want to calculate your net profit before choosing a %. I would suggest experimenting with that a bit as they put your listings in front of more people. I saw a definite increase in watchers and likers. Its similar to Posh Promote although with Posh Promote you pick a weekly $ amount and you pay it no matter what (and it's for your whole closet, whereas eBays is product by product). The other things for eBay are your listing title (is it packed with what someone would search for?) and filling out as much info in the extra details as possible on the listing as those are all the searchable terms. Finally, sometimes price makes the difference between people clicking or not. Sometimes I end up re-listing with a different price if no-one has seen or liked. If you do any work with the API let me know! I'd be super interested in that!!

Sometimes if its to good to be true, it might be faux. But they could have sourced it from a thrift shop, or some other crazy sale. I remember there was a store in NYC (and Boston) called Century 21 and I sourced there for years but they went bankrupt and closed during the pandemic :( I used to see Valentino bags there for really great prices (like the ones you mentioned) especially if they were having additional discounts. Oh, and sometimes the Coach outlet has super good deals too, but yeah that price seems a little too low to me. Thanks for watching and commenting!

hi @oliviamathew733 sorry for the late response! No question is ever dumb and I thank you for watching and asking a Q!! So, it really depends on the item and the comps etc. It really needs to make sense profit-wise and that also means deducting all of the hidden and not so hidden fees (sales tax when you buy it, shipping, the Poshmark fees, taxes on profit, any shipping materials you pay for like bubble wrap or thank you cards - and if you really want to take it to the next level, your "opportunity cost" of value of your actual time). I have a video on pricing and also a detailed article about it on resellgenius.com in the Genius Portal which is all free ofc. I recommend that one as I explain various pricing strategies and how to price. I also have a profit calculator on there too. in a nutshell, a healthy margin is 30% but that can really depend on the price of the item too.

You are 100% correct! It takes some serious knowledge and detective work to authenticate older designer items. The newer bags are getting even easier to authenticate now as companies like LV are starting to use chips and digital authentication instead of printed serial numbers and date-codes too. Are there any particular tips and tricks you have for authenticating vintage?

Well said. People have been asking me for a long time if and when I'm going to start having live shows. My response is that I don't have any items to sell that are $3 or 2/5.00 . I don't want to sell my $45 NWT at a $3 start. That's too much of a risk, specially for a single lady like me, receiving retirement income.

NO ONE should be selling awesome items curated and perfect for $3, the sellers that are doing this in their show advertising are selling bed bug-infested c#ap they shoved in a by-the-pound bag at the bins and are making the rest of us who put in the work want to leave Poshmark. Buyers beware of shows that where the clothes are in "boxes" just being pulled out at random, they will infest your home with vermin, and saying that with all honesty as the bins and pallets sit in storage containers infested with every thing you do not want in your home, the worst is the bed bugs that are ALWAYS in the Goodwill Bin items.

Wow, that is definitely a risk that I don't wish to entertain. I have wondered how in the heck they come up with all this merchandise that they are able to sell so cheap? And it's done at all of their long marathon shows. Let me add that if I were married - there is no way my husband would put up with me having all that junk in the house. It's just a greedy con game I see developing everyday.

Ok so… when I had my highest sales years/highest sales months, those also happened to be the times where I was super-super-active on Posh manually (no external 3rd-party automation tools). I was sharing a bunch of other people’s listings, rsvp-ing and sharing to every party that I could. I was sharing my closet to my followers multiple times per day, welcoming new Poshers, AND if I was really wanting to increase sales I would RSVP to a party, share each host’s closet listings and if the host had a sign (listing) in their closet about them promoting that they’re hosting a party the next day I’d comment and say I had an [insert listing that matches party] listing that would be great for their party. That way I’d almost always get a Host Pick! I will also look at the party brands/guidelines beforehand and will focus on creating new listings that match that party, then I’ll list before that party or save it as a draft and post the new listing during the party. So, if I have the time I’ll do all that because I’ve seen a direct correlation between lots of interaction and time I spend “engaging” on the app and my sales increasing. And yeah, I couldn’t figure out why my bulk share was only sharing 40 listings for like a year haha, but also Posh didn’t really advertise the feature too much, its kinda counter-intuitive. and I think originally it was limited to Ambassadors but now it’s everyone. There are a ton of hidden things like this in the app and even more coming- like the live show / live party combos.

What is Vad is Rad? Yeah, I try to spend time reporting listings and shows with fakes as much as I can, but it’s like whack-a-mole and I don’t see the hosts getting banned. I’ve even written emails to Posh. It is so annoying but at least they will cover the buyer when it’s a fake. During Poshfest they were talking all about shows and how many millions of dollars were made during shows and at no point did they acknowledge or broach the issue at all. So sad, but I’m hoping that if more people report the bad apples hosting shows, that Poshmark will eventually do something. Or they’ll have one of the brands force their hand via a lawsuit. I did hear during Poshfest that they were all popping into random parties, (like all Posh staff) but still there is too many for even all the Poshmark employees to catch. Thanks for watching! So, if you're going to make your own store rather than sell on a marketplace, the answer to your question would be yes; it would certainly help. However, you can still build your own following of clients by having a great email collection process on your site/store, using social media, paying for advertising, plus ensuring your store has excellent SEO (that's a very short answer). Selling on your own site is very difficult if you don't have a built-in customer base. If you're just starting, I would recommend selling on a marketplace since the buyers are built-in, and there are millions of buyers searching for things to buy every single day on all these platforms. If you're selling on a marketplace like Poshmark or eBay, you can also use the marketplace as a form of trust because buyers will trust in that marketplace, and most, if not all, marketplaces have buyer protection policies and a dispute process built-in, so buyers feel more confident to buy from there. Some of these marketplaces (like Posh) will also advertise listings externally, and you'll see your listings on Google Shopping. You have a higher chance of placing on Google Shopping if your listings are optimized for internal and external SEO. There is a great article on Resell Genius's "Genius Portal" on that exact subject; just go to resellgenius.com, go to the "Genius Portal," and search for "SEO." The other thing buyers will use to assess if you are a trustworthy seller is your rating on the platform, so it's important to have great customer service, respond quickly, address questions and comments, quick shipping, disclose all flaws in the listing, and perhaps do some nice touches like including a thank you card and a little gift (not necessary but does help). Finally, there is another way to establish that trust and confidence on a platform (or on your own site), and that's to take amazing photos with no clutter, wrinkles, lint, dust, and especially important - really great natural lighting (or incredible studio lighting! Natural is always best though.) Your images and in particular your first cover photo, are the first thing that a buyer will see and your chance to make a great first impression. Make sure it has a white background (or other solid color). Your description, which goes back to the SEO point above, is also a way to convey trust, but of course, you have to get them to click on it first. I hope this helps! Happy Holidays!
