Oh nice you’ll love it! Laurence the owner is amazing and her food is the best we had on the trip (I was just gutted I couldn’t eat more due to illness)! I didn’t actually think you could get to Belo Sur Mer in December due to rainy season, we were told the roads are closed as it’s too difficult to drive. Even in great conditions the roads (I mean sand) are not pleasant to drive on down the West Coast, it was the toughest part of the trip. My biggest recommendation for Madagascar in general is to take medication for upset stomach. Pretty much everyone we met on the 3 week trip had got it at some point and with the long drives between places it’s not pleasant 🥴 For Belo Sur Mer the water activities were the best but the sea was a bit too cold for us to go in. There’s lots of options to do there. We started to walk to the village but we had to turn back as I wasn’t feeling great and walking in the heat wasn’t helping. It’s certainly doable though and it’s so peaceful and safe. You’ll have a great time ❤️

We don’t really notice any bugs. There weren’t even really any mosquitos although all hotels had mosquito nets around the beds. As it was winter and cooler there were very few mosquitos around. We actually got bitten more in Mauritius than we did in Madagascar!

So amazing, we’ve been to some incredible beaches but the ones down this coast were probably the best (we just wish the sea was warmer so we could have gone in 😆)

I imagine it’s really terrible when it rains. Our driver told us for some months you just can’t drive at all to some of these places 😢

Views were amazing. Madagascar has so much to offer! Haha I (Natalie) struggle quite a lot with my breathing when going uphill so we always have to stop a lot to catch my breath. Not necessarily a fitness thing I just have small lung capacity so can’t get my breathing right 😂 David on the other hand is like a mountain goat leaping up no problem 😂 If you need the loo there is a huge open air toilet you can use 🫢 Thankfully one of the (many) advantages to Madagascar is that there are no dangerous animals. So hiking is really pleasant no worries of bears or snakes! And finally in our backpacks we had 2 litres of water (essential as it was pretty hot even though it was winter), usually some snacks/lunch, sun cream and sometimes we took a raincoat although it never actually rained

Thank you! It really is utterly amazing, the country itself has so much to offer from hiking,mountains, forests, national parks, incredible wildlife to utterly stunning deserted beaches. You really can’t go wrong (unless you don’t do well in bumpy cars 😂)

Haha yeah, this trip was a lot of bouncing around in the back of a truck for hours on end 😂 but there were some nice hotels along the way and the beaches towards the end of the trip (coming soon) were the best I’ve ever seen ❤️

We had hiking shoes but decent runners should be fine for this. The boardwalk wasn’t in the best condition but it was still doable imo in normal runners.

It does have a toilet but the rental agency wouldn’t let us use it properly. Had to use bags over it.

The company we rented from don't let you use it properly as with a rental vehicle I guess they don't want to have to clean the tank etc and probably gets left in some gross states. The other van we have rented since (Adria) allows us to use it properly so we much prefer that option and just clean out the tank ourselves before we hand it back.

the shoes were originally very heavy and hard to walk on, which is why to make it more graceful, they dragged their feet on the ground rather than use lots of strength to lift up their feet in every step. i don't know what materials these shoes are made of nowadays or if they remain as heavy as they used to be... so she lady could simply be following tradition for the show.

I think they call it lie flat as it's not really a business class with it being a low cost airline. So they call it lie flat instead!
