How to install a winter cover on a travel trailer
Why store your travel trailer inside for the winter? How hard is it to install a winter cover on a travel trailer? How many people does it take? We have always stored our travel trailer inside the PFO Workshop until this season. There are just too many projects planned for inside the workshop this winter, so the travel trailer has to spend the winter outside. This is our first time, ever, to buy and use a winter cover. Come along and see how easy it is to figure it out and to get it deployed, even as we race against sundown. We almost waited too long to get it on before the snow!

    Got a barebones used Leprechaun RV that doesn't even have an inverter or transfer switch; the Onan genny outlet is in the shore power cable compartment and I stay "plugged in" that way unless I'm on shore power. House batteries just power 12vDC stuff only so I've gone through and wired up a bunch of 12v outlets all over and have gotten good at using appliances geared towards truckers and mobile contractors that don't have 110vAC around. But you hit me with the AC/Coffee feels... Looks like I'm gonna be doing this come spring time! Looks way easier than the complete component DIY setups I see.

    Perfect timing! I just got my mini-ex from an auction site and in the sales videos show the hours at 0.6. Someone obviously looked at the excavator at the auction site and left the power shut off switching the on position. I ended up picking it up with a dead battery and an hour meter showing 14.7 hours. For me, it makes sense to use an induction hour meter that only counts hours of actual engine run-time. I also could not find a round drop-in replacement inductive hour meter. I'll probably get this Runleader gauge and swap a drop-in 2" round voltmeter to replace the original hour meter. Your videos are informative and much appreciated!

    • @thePFOchannel

      I'm the opposite. I have to be able to stretch out straight, or I'll get claustrophobic. There is just enough space to stretch my legs. I wouldn't want to sleep back there for a week, but a couple of nights are no problem at all.

I suffer from chronic pain from muscles in my back. Having my arms out in front of me is 100% a deal killer. I sometimes forget this. I'd bought one with those controls out here. Now no way I would. Thanks I also wish someone would make a electric one. Replace the gas with a 10 hp electric and a 10kwh battery. If you did this you could make a mower head that ran off the battery and this would solve the problems of not enough hydraulic flow. Sure the run time might not be great. Not a large unit either, just enough to cut the brush back.

    Thanks for letting me know of this video. I have watched some of your other videos and have enjoyed them. The operators that I have had work for me as I remember on an excavator they spin the cab and put the bucket in front of them. The last time the operator used a larger Bobcat on my property and loading it up he put the bucket in the trailer and tilted the ex up and pulled the tracks up on trailer and spun cab and used the bucket to lift it up and drove it on trailer. No ramps. Coming down just the reverse but with ramps always bucket on the down side. I have to say glad you had that blade behind you and you didn't get hurt. Stay blessed and Happy Thanksgiving..

      Yes, I've switched over to the "keep the bucket downhill" camp and haven't had any more close calls. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

    Wow just watched the video and first thing I thought was why doesn't he turn the cab around and put the bucket out front close to the ground. Wish you would of showed the entire ending down the ramp.. Glad you were not hurt..

      The rest of the trip down the ramp is in a separate video. Also, there has been a lot of discussion in the comments about the best methods for such a maneuver. Thanks for watching!

    Thinking I could sleep in the back of my FJC when I first bought it I tried all sorts of combinations of sleeping arrangements. Quickly found I lost all sorts of room for camping and fly fishing gear; did not work for me. The FJC just ain't made for sleepin' in. For a while, I used a tent for my sleeping solution. Slept better for it. Finally, bought a hard side off road pop-up camper I can haul stuff in and drop at a campsite then takeoff for some fly fishing. And when bedtime rolls around I don't have to spend an hour rejiggering the inside of the FJ. Only to spend another hour in the morning undoing the rejiggering.

      @thePFOchannel หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the FJC just isn't very spacious! The big Thule storage box on the roof is the only thing that let's me get away with this even for the short, one or two night trips. I most commonly use this sleep arrangement when I'm 3 or 4 hours from home and the fishing is so good that I don't want to call it quits at only one day. For longer trips, or when it's not just me, we pull the travel trailer.

      @@thePFOchannel ...but I love my '08 FJC, it's taken me to Colorado and Wyoming many times since '08, not to mention the Smokies in my "backyard." And it looks cool parked in the garage next to my '77 FJ40 😉

      An FJ Cruiser and an FJ40 make a nice pair, for sure!

    I just broke my trunion support on my yesterday. The casting cracked and now, I'm done for.

      I'm sorry to hear that! Are those cast iron or cast aluminum? That would start to sound like a good excuse to upgrade to a TIG welder.

      Besides annoying, I don't know! If I force that two-piece plastic knob apart to see what's inside, I'm not sure it will snap back together.

    If you use an XT60i connector you can get much higher transfer rate. My Delta 2 will pull 500 Watts from an external battery using an XT60i. You may not need that higher transfer rate, but it is possible.

    • @thePFOchannel
      @thePFOchannel หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the tip. This particular arrangement does well with the slower transfer rate. The 100Amp hour battery trickles slowly into the Delta Pro over a period of a couple of days. When I add the circuit to charge the Delta Pro from the tow vehicle alternator, I will use either the XT60i or the 30 amp Anderson connector input.

    I wanna put lock nuts on mine there 15mm or 5.8ths for the techiner and the big nut spins right off ..so they must vibrate off

    • @thePFOchannel
      @thePFOchannel หลายเดือนก่อน

      On mine, even with the lock nuts, it has come loose again. I have found a pair of 24mm split ring lock washers that I'll add under the nuts. Maybe that will keep it locked. I know the tracks also stretch for a bit until they get broken in, which can make the tracks sag, but I think the tensioners coming loose is a separate issue.

      Yeah, those mechanical governor systems have so many nuts, screws, springs and levers, and any single one can prevent the whole thing from behaving.
