    Ok Jimmy! Thanks for the reply. I just saw the Haven released. The kuiu team told me they think the Haven will be too warm (is really meant for below 0 or in the mid teens and below) if I do any still hunting, so I'm going to see what the Proximity looks like and feels. I get friggin cold now (it's always that last 30min to an hour when the deer are moving I start shivering in my wool clothes. This Damp / moist bluster weather we get in November is cold now for me. I always wore wool, but I"m told the new technology will blow my mind away. I ordered the Axis like you have for those warmer say 35-40 degrees and still hunting in wet damp conditions. Thoughts if you have any otherwise thanks for your comments. I hope I don't kick myself on not getting the Haven instead of the proximity. Time will tell.

    Jimmy are you concerned about noise? I was debating on whether to get the proximity instead. Originally I was going to get the axis hybrid for north east November white tail and then when sitting put on the super down pro, but just received and feel it is crazy noisy. @@ERC-n7g I agree that the down with any outer layer is noisy. Now…can a deer hear it at 20yds? I would doubt it. The proximity is a good jacket. I had one and it was warm and quiet. If you don’t have burrs where you are it would be good option. I know it gets lots colder there than where I am in Ohio. So, might want to check out the new haven down jacket. But really, as long as I don’t wear any down mid layers my axis apparel is quiet enough for me.

    I have the Super Down Ultra Vest XL, so I really can't comment on the sleeves length. But I can say, I only use it as a mid-layer (as stated on Kuiu web site). I think the fabric is too delicate for out layer coverage. After 3 years, I finally had a quill extending from the fabric. Again, only used it as a mid-layer under their Guide Jacket. Very warm! The mag is stamped 308 in the Mesa. I’ve got a Rem clone custom build that the Mesa fits directly into. Except, the bottom metal that came with Mesa is a different thickness then the one bought with the Terminus action. So the action beds very nice but to use the stock I would have to use the bottom metal from the Terminus action and not the CA to make that all work. I hope this all helps. Thanks for the comment and if you have any further questions just hit me up.

    How do you think the encounter pants would hold up to walking through brush?

    • @jimmytimeoutdoorz4907
      @jimmytimeoutdoorz4907 ปีที่แล้ว

      They seem to have a fairly tight weave. I would be confident that if you are walking in and out to hunt they are fine. If you are recovering a deer a couple times a year they should last. But if you were driving deer they would prolly get torn up. Hope this helps.

      Southwestern Ontario Canada. I pair it with the encounter pants as my legs do not get as cold, but I also ordered the proximity bibs.

      It’s all about layers and a good plan. I hunt the Adirondacks so I get the temp swings. I plan on doing a layering vid soon. Basically you know you will always need a base layer. Then any system should have a mid insulation layer. The next mid layer would be a puffy layer of some material. Last would be a shel that is appropriate to your weather patterns. If you get the right items in your kit you’ll have the ability to wear all the items at some point during the season. Kuiu is pretty good about providing enough info and clothing line options. Go through their webpage and do some home work and build a kit that suit early to late season. I’ll get that layering vid out soon. Thanks for watching!

      Oh good deal Adirondacks aren’t far from me. I just ordered the encounter jacket and pants along with strong fleece 235 and attack pants we will see where that gets me as I already have base layers. It’s hard to tell the thickness or bulkiness of any of there clothes with the pictures provided. Thanks for the videos as you give more detail then any other videos I’ve found 👍

    Jimmy, thank you for the great videos! I’m looking to get some KUIU gear for this season, and you have been instrumental in helping me make my decision. Since you are a KUIU junky, I figured you would have an opinion for me. I’m looking at getting the Attack pants, 145 ultra merino, maybe the 240 peloton, and trying to decide between the guide dcs or the encounter. I live in SC, so eastern whitetail hunting is what I do the most. I’m looking to take a couple of trips elk hunting in the near future, so I want something that can be dual-purpose. Also, I am 6’5, 250 lbs, to make this more fun. What are your thoughts?

    • @jimmytimeoutdoorz4907
      @jimmytimeoutdoorz4907 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you like the vids!!! That’s why I do this…don’t need to be famous but I like being of service. My opinion is that if you primarily hunter deer from a stand, the encounter jacket is perfect for that. The peloton 240 will layer up good under it for added warmth. Now… as for the guide. If you were looking for a more weather resistant outer shell. The axis hybrid is hands down the jacket to go with. I’m not sure really why Kuiu continues the guide line. As for size, I’d start by looking at XXL. Kuiu clothes are better slightly larger than fitting perfectly. Thanks again and watch for more new content!

    So, as someone that’s been looking at both the Kuiu Proximity and the Sitka Fanatic setup (which you mentioned you had prior), and have never had the chance to try on either in person, here’s my question - if I’m primarily interested in warmth, how do these two sets compare? You mentioned the Fanatic was heavier, but would it keep me warmer with fewer layers? It’s looking like you’re having to layer up pretty heavily with the Kuiu stuff. On the Kuiu website for the layering diagram for late season they seem to imply this Proximity with the Wind Pro fleece, Kenai vest, and ultra merino 145 will work between 10 and 40 degrees. If you’re putting on that Super Down Pro it makes me think they may be overselling that comfortable temp range. :D So I guess I’m looking for your insight between the two strictly for warmth. Thanks! Good review video as well!

    • @jimmytimeoutdoorz4907
      @jimmytimeoutdoorz4907 ปีที่แล้ว

      In total honesty the fanatic jacket is by for the warmer of the two jackets. I was never cold wearing the fanatic. My only reason for switching it up was it’s too warm. I prolly wore it a couple times a year. The idea with going with kuiu is all the layers added up can/should equal the Sitka and all those layers can be worn at other times. But if you want warm…the fanatic might be the warmest jacket for bow hunting or short range gun hunting. (I’m sure the super down pro or the gale force jacket are as warm but noisy for treestand sitting). Hope this helps.

      @@jimmytimeoutdoorz4907 Thanks! That helps! Come late season where I am it’s very typical to start the mornings in the low 20’s with 10-20 mph wind and it never really improve from that. In recent years I’ve been thinking about getting as warm as I can. Thanks again!

      If you want warmth, the sitka fanatic is the best option for you. It is heavier than the kuiu proxymity. With a couple of layers underneath the fanatic, you will be toasty

    I bought the proximity jacket last year and it is a great jacket. I bowhunt exclusively and I absolutely love this jacket. I’m 5’6” and about 122 lbs. I wear a small. Kuiu came out with the proximity vest this year and I bought one in a small also and it’s a good fit.
