Not sorry for the slow build up - you got to reveal a disturbing stilt monster costume dramatically. My name is Justin Carney and this is my nightmarish creature Abyss. I managed to make some stilts and used up a lot of glue and fabric to assemble this monstrosity. I'm happy with how it turned out. I had some leftover footage of my time in New Zealand. I've changed for the best thanks to my year long adventure. I'll have more adventures there in the future. I miss it.

Such a flattering angle. I've been working hard so it was the perfect time to take a mini vacation to Taupo. I didn't do everything there is to do there, but I did the essentials. I'm going to try to make it in the windy city of Wellington. Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and it's quite a handsome place. There's not much work available after the holidays so in my free time I've been sightseeing and doing some self-improvement.

That stock music though. I couldn't think of a good song to match this video. You got to keep in my mind I'm normally an introvert so this solo traveling thing is a big step for me. I really liked Auckland but I didn't get to enjoy myself as much being sick a lot. The trip is still running smoothly. Was pretty easy getting in the country and now it's straight to work.

This has been a rough journey. I didn't sleep for 35 hours going from airport to airport, to airport again. This was my first time flying too. I'm glad everything went smoothly. I'm ready to see new lands, get out my comfort zone, and gain some new perspectives. To New Zealand, let's go!

Exactly how tall is this when worn? I might wanna do a take on it myself
I think I made the stilts give me an extra 18" in height, which got me to 7'3" if I stood up straight. Any taller and it probably would have made it more difficult to walk as a quadruped. Even if I lengthened the arms, it still would be tricky.

@Water-z7n I think so. If you look up the behind the scenes of actors for the new Planet of the Apes movies, they use stilts just on the forearms to help them "crawl".
Does it hurt you back when being on it to much??
@@clementerodriguez3846 it hurts some. My arms and shoulders hurt the most. I stand or lean on something whenever I can.

@ViTheClown I added material that curves back over the top of the head. Then I added a strap that connects from that and buckles under my chin. Kinda like a bike helmet. It kinda chokes me a bit.

@@Mallcop-t6p On my Abyss | Stilt Monster Costume video, there is a link in the description. The only modification I made was haphazardly gluing mattress foam and fabric to the stilts.
Now make the eyes glow white. If all I see in the dark is a pair of white yes imma run

@LandondelGamer Do it! I've linked a video for the leg stilts. However, I want to remake them. There's a channel called Spiritwalker and his stilts seem much more lightweight and maneuverable. I can more well in this custom, but it would be nice to gallop.

@Shorbc Yes! I love the idea of doing other types of creatures with stilts. I've kept in contact with this one guy who's made his own version of Abyss already. If you have Instagram, I would like to follow you because I want to see what others create.

I wish the foam part on the leg didnt get skipped, it coulda at least been sped up or something
OR AT LEAST THE MATERIALS!! Like a full in depth video of steps would’ve been amazing
@ViTheClown the video on the structure of the stilts is linked in the description. The thickness was foam mattress topper material glued onto the stilt structure. The "skin" is a velvety black material, but nothing too fancy. The entire thing is sloppily made, but I was lucky that it worked out. I plan on remaking the entire costume for next year.

Both versions just share the head, back and shoulder pieces. They have their own arms and legs. I might get a side by side shot now that you mention it.
Did you make the stilts 2 foot or 3 foot?

Maybe beef up the limbs a bit ? Make it more proportionate. It’s an awesome looking creature but the arms especially are kind of toothpicky.
I have a bit and filled in a lot of the gaps, though I'll never truly be finished tweaking it. It's updated look is in my newest video briefly.

I based this year's Halloween costume of mine of this so far the people love it. doesn't look nearly as good as yours but I looks okay. I love this version of abyss. keep the monsters rolling!

the one I made isn't comfortable either, bruises my arms, tore my thumbnail on the first day.
@the_ckos_rex24 it's tough to perform, but it's good fun. The worst part on mine are pressure points, that don't feel like they'd bother me, end up peeling my skin off after 30 mins. It takes constant adjusting.

@@noblescale1600 i reformed my version, now it's like a normal stilt spirit and a bipedal. I have practiced so much in the last 3 days, i can safely run in my stilts. I am proud of my creation.

I got to sit on something tall like a countertop. I've never fallen but if I did I'd have to take everything off to get myself up again.
