I don't know if I like the voice or not. It's nowhere near the level of Talvela or Ghiaurov, both of whom I listened to in this aria recently. I find the musicianship adequate but not more.

whenever a bass easily emits an E and a F, there is always someone who has to say that it is not a bass but a bass-baritone. The bass voice has a standard extension, in the low register and in the high, like all voices, and there are good basses who, by studying hard and well, manage to make soft and easy high notes, like sopranos, mezzo-sopranos, tenors , it is not difficult to understand

The bass is magnificent, but the staging leaves a LOT to be desired. I have no problem with contemporary versions of opera, but this was ridiculous. The staging had nothing to do with the plot, or with the words of the aria.
