7 out of 10 are in my top 20 too. I must have played SH and the serrated Scalpel 4-5 times😂. One thing about Laura Bow 2: I loved the setting and the graphics but I found the story not linear, meaning that I never managed to associate events unfolding during the game with the final solution. I even played it with a complete walkthrough to see if I was missing something but the result was the same. I don't know if you had the same impression. And a last thing: it would be great to make a video about games that you would like them to have had a sequel but "...then there were none..."😅 Congratulations on your channel
@@medkosp hi medkosp. I appreciate you. What is your top 10 series? I think I’ve got a video about sequels that never came. Let me see if I can find it. 🙂
You nailed the top 3. Back in the day I played most of Sierra and Lucasarts point and clicks, but for some reason, which I think was the 3d graphics and rendered backgrounds, I never tried Grim Fandango. I only decided to try it in 2024 because I kept seeing it mentioned among many top all time ranks not only in adventure genre but in all of gaming. Let me tell you, it is THAT good. It sucks you in like the best of books.

Broken Sword Pretty sure about the last 2 knowing you, and I bet you left out the Conquest games (you monster), unless you discounted the Sam & Max telltale games, .
Pretty close, although I omitted Quest for Glory for reasons that I’ll explain soon
Conquest series got omitted also. Hurt to do it but I’ll explain as well
Alright, the amended list 10. Kyrandia 9. Sam & Max 8. Day of the Tentacle/Maniac Mansion 7. Space Quest 6. -Quest for Glory- Star Trek 5. Tex Murphey 4. King's Quest 3. Monkey Island 2. Gabriel Knight 1. Broken Sword I chose Star Trek rather then Police Quest, since I think their adventure games are generally a higher quality, I think PQ would have been on today's list if it was making the cut. I'd be surprised if Goblins makes it with it's trial and error random chaos (I didn't get far into them), and few people will back Deponia because of Rufus's personal issues (never tried it myself). Probably not far off with 4-1.
@@MagusMarquillin I’m not a fan of Deponia

For some odd reason I never considered the Sherlock Holmes games a franchise like the other titles in this list, maybe because I see them as book adaptations? Either way, would feel like a crime for the Agatha Christie/Poirot series to not get a mention.

Adventure Game Hotspot does a real adventure game video? Kidding bro
@@TK-xv4qp 😩😩😩😩
I'd struggle to call this an adventure game video. There's no analysis and barely even any information. Like look at the Holmes section. * Is this a series? * I've already discussed the most famous one, go to other videos to see it * HAW HAW LINGERIE It's barely coherent. There's no edification, let alone any novel ideas or creativity. You'd be WAY better off literally asking ChatGPT, and that's a low bar to clear. Like, look at this: === Reasons for Their Classic Status (with Examples): Faithful Representation of the Source Material: The games, particularly Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (2007) and its 2023 remake, skillfully adapt Holmes' investigative prowess while blending the logical rigor of Conan Doyle’s stories with creative twists. For example, The Awakened merges Holmes' rational world with Lovecraftian horror, maintaining his trademark skepticism while exploring supernatural elements. Complex and Engaging Mysteries: In Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments (2014), players tackle six distinct cases, ranging from murder to theft, each with multiple solutions and endings. The game’s hallmark feature is the freedom to make deductions and accuse suspects, but it allows for the possibility of error, mirroring the fallibility of human judgment. Immersive Atmosphere: Games like Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper (2009) expertly recreate the grim streets of Victorian London. Players navigate Whitechapel’s foggy alleys and encounter historical landmarks while unraveling a chilling fictional showdown between Holmes and the infamous serial killer. === You can't tell me this lazy, lazy drivel is better.
What games do you think will be 1-10?
My Guess: 10) Black Mirror 9) Deponia 8) King`s Quest 7) Quest for Glory 6) Journeyman Project 5) Space Quest 4) Sam&Max 3) The Book of Unwritten Tales 2) Broken Sword 1) Monkey Island

@@AdventureGameHotspot Yeah it was stunning ! Having a sequel to a 1994 cyberpunk game that has dialogs is truly unique (I did the game in 2005 thus). Seeing Union City in 3D after all these years and hearing Joey again was mesmerizing. I think this will be probably one of the most memorable gaming experience along with Resident Evil 7 in VR Kinda reminds me Half-Life 2 in some way even if the sequel wasn't set in the same universe and it was released only 5 years about the original.
@@BenoitAdam2 without spoiling it for others, were you okay with the ending?

@@AdventureGameHotspot by the way you can have your own Joey with ChatGPT now. Just ask ChatGPT to act like if he was Joey the sarcastic/insolent robot from "Beneath a steel sky" and "Beyond a Steel Sky". Honestly, it works great !

I have very little memory of it. I watched my cousin play it. I always wanted control but I was the annoying younger cousin who could only view from afar 😉
I’m going to preface my next comment by saying how much I appreciate your homages, nods, and obvious loves for old school adventures games ( for me especially with all things Sierra)! I will never forget being a child and going into a Babbages (Shit am I spelling that right?.. lol) with my dad looking for the newest release of a SQ, LSL, and my all time favorite KQ! I also remember how long I waited for KQ8 and how furious I was when Sierra tried to go mainstream and appeal to the masses by completely destroying my most anticipated and beloved series.!! Well hell I really didn’t mean to write such a rambling preface for a differing opinion that’s going to be all of one sentence 😂: I actually enjoyed the hell out of Banishers especially all of the hidden side stories. I thought it was a beautifully unique and interesting game where choices actually mattered. Ok so it was 2 sentences. Also since I have rambled I’m curious to know if any of yall have played an adventure game called a tale of two kingdoms?. I believe without fact checking myself that it was made in 2007/2008 and at the time was free to play. I’m not sure if it’s still hanging out somewhere in the internet ether but if so was certainly a good game to play.
@@PippaC33 hey there Pippa. Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane. I remember having the same feeling about KQ8. I remember Tales of 2 Kingdoms. Pretty sure there were two games, right? I always wanted to play them because the look was so similar to my cartoony preference but I never did. I wonder if they are on Steam or GoG
@ Hey there you incited my google compulsion. It is on Steam. The developers are called Crystal Shard and while they’ve made a few games there is one called Heroines Quest which I might be inspired to play. As for graphics more VGA/ KQ5/6.

@3:05 I also have trouble remembering that name 😄Also putting together my top games of 2024, at least we agree on Legend of Skye 😉
Skye was so much fun
Agree with everything you said about 3 minutes to Midnight. I didn't finish it, in fact I only put in 3 or 4 hours. Bloated, dialogue heavy and trying too hard.
@@cadelepski5161 It’s definitely dialogue heavy. I’m wondering if the “valley girl” or “trying too hard has something to do with the English casting. The voice didn’t really match a lot of the dialogue. I doubt they attempted to write a valley girl style character. It could just be poor voice directing for the English version. Thoughts?
@@AdventureGameHotspot You may be right. Actually, Betty was the only character I liked and they got a great voice actor for her, but they just didn't know when to stop! They then carried this on with the rest of the characters, who were all forgettable, which meant interest was quickly lost. Sometimes less is more. 😀
Thanks for talking about The Legend of Skye and The Castle!

For gods sake, dont push your political agenda. This channel should be about great games, not divisive oppinions.
@@gordongecko555 there is no agenda pushed. I took both sides. The point is that all groups need to be moderated. Being the arbitrator and orchestrator of what should be cancelled without checks and balances is not fair.
It's impressive that AI voice generation can sort of bring back the same actors from over 30 years ago in a way. While AI poses a threat to voice actors in the filming industry, I would say this is more of a homage to Gary Owens and all the other voice cast. Space Quest 1 VGA and Space Quest V never got the voice treatment and I would definitely be happy to try them both out. But there begs one question. Who is going to voice the characters that have no been voiced before, especially Captain Quirk? I can imagine Scott Murphy's voice being ideal, though not as deep or as modulated as Sludge Vohaul. There are so many Sierra adventure games that deserve this voice treatment, particularly the early Quest for Glory, and Leisure Suit Larry games.
@@Jenkinsmum I agree, although creator of this voice pack, and to a lesser extent myself have taken a lot of criticism over stealing the voice of a deceased man, who cannot offer his consent. I didn’t look at it from that POV. Thanks for the dialogue
This sets an amazing precedent… we soon could have talkie versions of all sierra games! Wow
Hi Man, I am trying to find an early 90's adventure game since forever. I remember that the initial narration of the game is a robot waking you up The only thing i can remember is that on the first "stage" of the game you are on an office and you can select actions to do inside. You have limited actions to do or is game over, and some of those actions can lead to game over too! Those action points are represented through "red balls" If you go outside of the office you need to cross a street with cars passing by and you need to be careful when doing it so. The viewpoint of this stage works in top-down, third-person. Thank you!
I’ve been thinking about this all day and nothing rings a bell. So sorry
Apparently Tintin's entered the US public domain now, so that may explain why they were so eager to get it out quickly. If anyone reading this fancies making their own then go for it! Popeye's available too.
You first 😝
@@AdventureGameHotspot All I remember about Tintin is that he saved himself from murderous natives using a solar eclipse. He's also Belgian, has a wee dog called Snowy, and a friend called Cpt Cod, or Haddock, or something. That's enough for a game, right? 😆
Alone in the dark was okay
what about Lupin??
@@adagiotal5417 I didn’t play it. I’ve heard good and bad. Your thoughts?
Not that I disagree with any game on this list, but were the expectations really that high for AITD? I always got the impression the game was falling under the radar even before launch. I believe this was more apparent when trailers started coming out for Alan Wake 2, which just looked downright gorgeous in comparison. Personally, I found it to be a flawed yet decent mid-tier game, much like Sinking City was, but it's clear the studio and its publisher had much higher aspirations for it. Either way, happy New Year folks and keep up the good work.
Thanks for the well wishes. You as well. I'm not sure if it had high expectations critically, but anticipation / hope was certainly high. It's two different things, certainly but definitely disappointing. Most importantly, we were disappointed with the studio for betraying the original.
It's a shame that Pendulo has moved away from classic point and clicks, just like Daedalic, they failed to find their place in the world of action adventure games. I would love to play a sequel to the Yesterday series, but I don't know if it's still possible :(
