Nothing unique about the gopher snake's behavior. Many snakes will mock strike and tail rattle, and of course, use camouflage to avoid detection. My personal belief is that the rattlesnakes took this typical snake response to the next level by growing rattles. It makes the warning sound audible independent of dry leaves or other loose ground cover. The rest of the snakes aren't imitating rattlesnake behavior. It's vice versa.

Not particularly aggressive? There is no such thing as an aggressive snake.

Please don't keep them as pets. Let them be free in your yard to hunt rodents.

Had one that lived in a natural rock bed /dry creek on our place in NM. I talked to him and watched oit fotr him but let him live his best lizard life. They eat rattlesnakes.

Such gorgeous creatures. It’s honestly kind of mind blowing how such perfect aerodynamics exist in a living creature.

By the body language of the white Falcon, it was almost like it was listening to what you were saying and comprehending it. Especially with the mouth opened right when you said that the paragraph falcon was a fastest diver. Then it looks surprised again when you said it was the fastest flyer. I love birds. They are misunderstood animals.
