Olga's British Fells
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 5 ก.ย. 2021
A life of a Russian woman on the British fells, trails and mountains. I like to explore - I do whatever it takes to get around - run, walk, climb, crawl. I live in the North-West of England but come from St-Petersburg, Russia. Sometimes in my videos I go to different places rather than the British countryside and talk about my cultural heritage and where I come from.
Additional information:
I have a few viewers who have joined recently, who are not from the UK. Therefore, I would like to explain what a "fell" is.
"Fell" is a type of landscape very typical to North of England (as well as Scotland, Wales and Ireland). It's a hilly landscape with certain type of vegetation, mostly moorlands, mossy, or boggy type. It's hard to describe it, but, honestly mountainous areas in other countries have a kinder underfoot. Fell running is rough, often on no path with high elevation. It's rougher than trail running. Fell running shoes have a better grip than trail running ones.

Hello Awesome Gates they are like portals 🥰
Hello hi Pyari sister.❤❤❤
5:10 - a mistake in the video - it's a RUINED wall not a bent in the wall (the bending symbol to the right of the feature - wall (cp15) means 'ruined').
Hi Olga, that was a wonderful video Boff, as I remember takes his orienteering quite seriously so he seemed a bit uncommunicative, please keep doing these they are fantastic, cheers Rupert
Hi Rubert. Don't worry Boff was great, I just didn't get to film all of it while we were orienteering, as it wasn't easy to film and do it at the same time.
Well done Olga 🙂
Maravilloso enhorabuena
I still haven't moved to the county of Lancashire yet due to work constraints, but I will be there somewhere like Accrington sometimes in the future!
Great job on completing the blue course! Your enthusiasm is contagious. Can't wait to see more of your adventures in the British fells!

Loved how you made orienteering sound like an epic treasure hunt for grown-ups. Loved how you described it as an 'adult Easter egg hunt.' Hope John Green’s birthday bash was as epic as your quest!

The snowy walk to Darwen Tower looked lovely! The first snow really added a special touch to the moors. A nice way to spend a day out in Lancashire. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your comment
Nature is indeed the best artist. Best wishes out there Olga.
@@reluctantfellrunner thank you, Nigel. I was going to have a navigation course today but it was cancelled because of the weather and tomorrow the Lee Mill fell relay in Bacup is cancelled too, so I am going to see my elder nest Liverpool daughter instead.
Wow didnt expect to see so much snow around there Olga. Looks fabulous
@@tonypilki3 I know, it's like a separate world with its own microclimate. You can always rely on Darwen Hill for snow even if there's no hint of it in Preston. 2 years ago, I once went there and there was so much snow there, it was like a winter wonderland. I have a video somewhere about it here. When in Preston at the time, there was nothing.
Sunshine and bright daylight is such a treat through the winter. It looked like you a good range of conditions for this walk. I've seen Jubilee Tower from a distance but this close-up tour was very interesting. I always thought it was a Stoodley Pike style monument but now I can see it's more like a lighthouse, with those beautiful stone cloisters at the bottom reminding me of an old abbey or monastery.
@@clippingin1593 Thank you, Gordon. I was just thrilled to be out in the daylight on a weekday. Darwen Tower area is very special to me because it's where I had my first ever fell run in 2017 with our Preston Harriers group and my two older children. Like you, I always only used to see the tower from a distance, from M65, and always used to wonder what it was. But at that time I didn't even know anything about any trails in that area or that there were so many amazing fell and trails for roaming around nearby. I was only just introduced to fell running and started discovering different places through it. When I realised that we were running to that tower I was so excited, I was screaming and jumping for joy. And going inside it and to the top of it was just like a cherry on a cake. It was also cool to have this first experience together with my children.

Really enjoyed this video, Rene! You've put in impressive effort, and it’s great to see the quality here. I know how much effort goes into making videos like this, and it's inspiring to see your dedication. I work on TH-cam and offer services to help channels like yours grow even faster. If you’re interested in some tailored tips, feel free to replay. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you very much, but I am not really interested in "growing" my channel. My audience is only restricted for people who do fell running and it's not interesting for anyone outside this area. Plus, I wouldn't have any money to pay for your services anyway.

It is a great film Olga and it is an awesome landscape to be in . The day after the British Championship in Appletreewick just in the same place of the races , we did the fell race '' Charlesworth Chase'' that goes up to the Simon's Seat and back , it was very wet and windy but we enjoyed the 4 miler run .
@@antoniocardinale6958 oh I am glad you did the race Antonio. I was considering it but that means I would've been away from the family for two weekend days in a row. Did it go up Simon's Seat? It must have been difficult in the wet and windy weather.
You have done a magnificent job Olga , with great filming all over Appletreewick . Well done to all the runners , especially to the super Ted Mason and to the English Champion and winner of Leg 4 Dr Ben Rothery .
