Father & Son Reaction Video: Bob Dylan
My turn again, and I may have cheated a little bit here..! Rather than choose one song, I chose 5 songs, put them in questionable categories, and had him pick 3 he'd like to hear. Who can pick only one Dylan song??

    Check out Valley by John Butler similar song. I was lucky enough to have a private concert from John when he did sound check at Woodford festival played 3 songs to an entire amphitheatre with only 5 people.

    Great job dude. One of my favourite Cockburn tracks. And you might have the distinction of being the only person on TH-cam that’s covered it 👏👏

    Some suggestions, bc I'm a proud Aussie: Matt Corby: Brother, Like a Version version: Guy Sebastian, Battle Scars, Anzac Day live version: Tommy Emmanuel, Classical Gas, any version I guess: Billy Thorpe, Mama live on TV, but bc it seems so few people have heard of him outside of Aus, give anything from him a go.

    Mate I'm two minutes into the reaction and I really wish you'd pointed out to your dad in the intro that it was one dude and a guitar and a couole of pedals. Maybe it's referenced later 👍

    Music can get boring when its made up of typical predictable song structures. Zappa is the antithesis of that and is what makes his music highly engaging to listen to.

    So nice to see you. I could have been the grandpa in a video of us 3. After 50 years of listening to FZ I would recommend to listen concentrated to bass or drums (or any othe instrument) during the guitar solos. It is astounding what these musicians did !

    Zappa employed many highly talented band members, most of whom were experts in progressive rock. IMO this lineup is his finest band: keyboardist/vocalist George Duke, drummer Chester Thompson, percussionist Ruth Underwood, bass guitarist Tom Fowler and saxophonist/vocalist Napoleon Murphy Brock. They really got his groove on funk, blues and R&B. Inca Roads incorporates all the genres and is the best example to play for first time Zappa listeners.

    Frank liked the Synclavier, and sometimes bemoaned working with musicians because he could never ever get a perfectly accurate performance of his complex music. For me, to witness what his band could do in concert was breathtaking. Frank then seemed to sign each song with a personal guitar solo, created on the spot. Always a surprise.

    David, that's a perfect copy! Congrats, beautiful!....Anyone know what "this Devil's law" refers to?....David if you added harmonies & cool instrumentation, you'd have something really original, too, like Jimi's "'Watchtower" or Eagles' "Take it Easy" do w/ the original songs! 🌍

    It's a while since I heard "Motorpsycho Nightmare" but I still remember the sinister threat of the line: "Rita mumbled something about her mother on the hill" It's up there with "and the riot squad ............ they're restless" from Desolation Row for understated drama. This kid's got a future :)

    Let him hear “isis” from the live 75 bootleg series, and “tonight I’ll be staying with you”, and “tangled up in blue” from that same album....and a whole host of songs off “Nashville skyline”, like “I threw it all away”, ect, ect...or, the higher, “dive-bombing the notes” voice on “like a rolling stone” from the bootleg series 4, from the 66 tour......Bob has so many voices, it’s just when ppl say he can’t sing, there’s just so many different voices in the last 62 years.....his first/debut album too, with the squeaky, honkin’ voice, like “gospel plow”, “in my time of dying”, “you’re no good”, or “house of the rising sun”, or “freight train blues” where he holds that one note for , like, nearly a minute...anyway, Dylan had as many voices as he did different looks.

  • @vincentvancraig
    @vincentvancraig 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    John Lennon said “it’s not how Dylan sings,,it how he sings it-- meaning, phrasing, delivery, he’s unmatched, he single handedly invented rap-- and if one doesn’t think he can sing, listen to the live 75 bootleg series

    Good choices for the categories, but of course, mine would be a little different. For scorched earth, the song that immediately came to mind was "Idiot Wind", folk rock would be "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues", for lyrical/poetry I would go with "Desolation Row", humor would be "Bob Dylan's 115th Dream", and for love song, as you said, there's such a plethora to choose from, but I would go with , "Shelter From the Storm". But, tbh, there are no wrong answers...

    I do love me some Zappa and TMOI ... but I'd love to see a reaction from you both when you listen to the song that I believe has THE greatest live guitar solo ever recorded in rock music.
