People who think this thing looks good need their eyesight re-assessed and that’s coming from someone who’s partially blind. Tesla’s cars aren’t exactly inspiring anyway, being the automotive equivalent of driving a Microwave… but the CyberTruck is just laughable, a disgrace to the industry and already a disaster for Tesla.

Thankfully there are more chargers at both sides of ET now.

Excellent video. Thanks. We're going from near to Warwick to Orkney in June. It's about 600 miles to the ferry at Scrabster. There are just 2 of us and our camping gear in a VW ID.3 so I don't need so many stops although the car is slightly less efficient than yours. Any reason why you chose instavolt? I find them perhaps the most expensive of them all. <Edit> Ah, instavolt explained. 👍

That looks good, but I have my dachshund sitting on the back seats, she set off the seat belt warning lights, so now have all 3 belt’s plugged in all of the time 👍👍

Thanks for the video - Ioniq has such accurate guess-o-meter! This also demonstrates nicely how important *destination* charging is. All campsites should have EV chargers on site; no more fumes from cars while cooking breakfast!

Ive got a long drive in November to DLP in my Model 3 RWD so nice to see a winter drive to gauge the efficiency. The usable battery is 57.5kwh on the RWD

That's a fantastic car. The only thing I personally don't like is the lack of dedicated controls for basic functions like heating / AC and common drive functions. I like to think that the car can still be controlled if the big screen fails, and I'm worried about looking away from the road while adjusting settings, etc. Maybe not a problem in reality though?

Like your style of video and easy talking to camera. We’ve had a 38 Ioniq since Jan 2020, doing lots of university trips to our daughter 450 miles away! It’s been a brilliant car, a bit painful for charging speeds particularly on the winter runs up north when we need a 4th stop or even a 5th and the daylight hours are shorter. Generally though it’s been great, we’ve been driving full EV since 2012 with c-zero then leaf. Anyway I came here after buying a M3 LR RWD ( the rare one ) new 12 days ago. It’s amazing, going to make those 900 mile weekends so much easier. It’s a private family car as well and we’ll be looking to do some France trips in it for sure. I think it’ll work out cheaper going to France in it, getting cheap hotels than it does in our motorhome. I’ve done 650 miles so far at 190Wh/mi, so a range approaching 400 miles…….or 200 more than my bladder. Stay well and keep enjoying the family trips……they’ll be in Uni/jobs before you know it.

You should have upcycled a rangerover, far greener and more room and safer. Shonky built Tesla...death trap, maximum fire hazzard.. Diesle gen sets behind your chargers....and gas and coal fired power stations feeding this. Cobolt....40,000 children mining it, in Congo alone... Enjoy your glued together car. Hope your conscience can take it.

I forgot to add at the end of this the costs so here they are. Home charge £2.62 on octopus go faster at the time. Instavolt cribbs £0 free credit used. Exeter services £0 didn't have the cost. Out and about. 1 x supercharger £11.34 @ Camborne. Instavolt on the way home £0 free credit used. Total costs £13.96 for 895 miles.

I switched to an EV July '22 and am due to go on my first longish trip this week - NW London to Harrogate, which is 200 miles. My car is a Genesis Electrified G80 which has an 87 kWh battery, of which he I'm thinking about 80 kWh is useable. I am used to not having to worry about range having owned a Maserati and a number of Jaguars for getting on for thirty years. The Maserati was capable of over 500 miles between fills. My longest journey with the Genesis has been around 100-150 miles up until now, and from my experience, given the current temperatures I am guessing a total range of around 220 miles (i usually can ave 3 miles per kWh). So what I'm not used to is leaving the climate control off, and watching how I use energy, so from watching your excellent video, and some other rather less positive - MacMaster PorscheTaycan, I have to say a little apprehension is creeping in, with concerns over lengthy queues and non-working chargers! My view is, the Electrified G80 is a luxury saloon like my previous car's, and I am concerned about disappointment if the car cannot fill the brief of what a typical ICE car at that price point can achieve. I don't expect 500 mile range of course, but an 80 grand EV should not be troubled by this forthcoming journey. By the way apologies for my rambling comment, probably brought on by some of the horror stories about recharging EV's!!

Thanks for this video. Currently considering a second hand Ioniq, as an entry into EVs. Family of 3 and like the occasional camping trip. More than the car's range, I was concerned it wasn't going to be possible to pack enough into the car. But you've proved it's possible! Shame there doesn't seem to be a roof box that will fit, easily anyway. But at least it's possible without it, even if it is a squeeze! Thanks.
