What are u supposed to do when one of those fiberglass poles break? Do they have pole replacement options or do you have to buy a brand new tent setup? Fiberglass cracks and snaps easily in colder weather
@@jsf8145 your guess is as good as mine
Wow, that thing is as big as a circus tent 🎪 !! Nice features!! Yeah some tent clamps would be good to guy out them panels for ventilation! Nice shirt 👕 👍🏼 Blends in with the tent ! Sweet tent !!

Thanks a bunch for being so detailed. It really helped me decide to buy this.

Great video. What are those lights on your friend’s camp table?
@@ramboturner8684 thanks, here is a link a.co/d/fYpER9X
@@LifeWithKernelLee Awesome! Thank you sir!! Recently got the same Kodiak you have. Can’t wait to test it out 👍
@@ramboturner8684 oh you will love it
The unbeatable advantage of that canvas swag to me is that with canvas, you get a tent climate like with nothing else. Weight would not matter much to me if car camping. If you absolutely want it to be a bit more compact - ditch the mattress for an inflatable version. It is also possible to "misuse" the window covers at both end for pockets, if you unzip them about half way. The hoods on both ends are usually sufficient to keep rain away and your stuff hidden out of sight.
Great point
I have a Kodiak 10x10 and I just got this tent. The 10x10 was a great tent but when my small 3p Marmot needed replacing, I decided to go with Kodiak again

I bought the catalyst 3 person tent, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the price and all the great reviews online. Sierra trading post is under the same owners as Marshall, tj max. They all buy extra supplies from companies and are able to sell them for a lower price. Sierra happens to focus more on outdoors supplys.
Yes indeed, great place to look for gear
How much did it end up weighing?
5lbs 3oz
@@LifeWithKernelLee thx
A spritzer bottle….from the dollar store with some water and a usb fan does wonders to keep you cool!
@@theresarathe7808 that is a good way to help stay cool for sure
The weather in Houston during the summer is hot, humid, and generally miserable. I don't know where you are in Texas. However, I wouldn't "camp" outdoors in the Houston area during the summer without an air-conditioned RV with a lot of solar power, battery storage, and a gas or diesel generator backup.
@@SanBrunoBeacon haha man I hear ya, we are just north of Fort Worth, hot and humid but not as humid as Houston
Welcome to camping in a hair dryer. Nothing quite like sweat burning your eyes. I like it hot, can't handle the cold. Friend of mine married a Canadian and lives in GTA, She was telling me how your nose hairs freeze. NO THANKS I'll sweat. Sold my acoustic amp to a Canadian that comes to Texas for the winter.

Huge difference between outside and inside. Was a fun experiment to try, and it worked great! Good food, good fun, good company! Let's do it again soon! OH yeah, that tent is awesome, man!
@@FatMatAdventures yeah buddy
I've had my vista 1 for prob 6-8 yrs, love it and works and looks like new. I do the same set up on the cot. I haven't added the extra rain fly, instead I went with a large tarp. I think your set up is better, in the rain, certainly dryer.
@@sqd8r it is a pretty good set up, a large tarp would offer a dry place before entering the tent.
Nice quick set up. Any problems with fiberglass poles? Are tent poles replaceable if broken?
Im debating on getting the vista 1 to pair with the cot. Do you have any issues body length wise? Im 5”11 and wanted to see if the tent was I could sleep with the legs out.
Very cool tent. Cool video
@@killsplaque thank you kind sir
You're out of breath all the time, and it kind of makes it more relatable to me. You put in the air matress the wrong way in the Amok, but other than that I appreciate the comparison. Definately getting the Amok over the Haven, I want that chair mode and view you get with it.
@@Phelixc 👍🏻
Very through review. Thanks
@@robertwells9177 very welcome thanks for dropping by
Great vid, thanks, I personally haven't had an issue with the air pad but it's nice to see alternatives if needed! I went to a Bushcraft show in the UK and had a lot of people asking about the Haven. Haven seem to be a straight outfit , they have done masses of testing.... the weight testing alone, (check it out) I wish them luck. I was in the UK forces, but I don't want to 'rough it ' (at 73) Have fun x
Thank you, sounds like you had a great time at the show. Haven is a great company

Have you used the Kakadu in the rain? Wondering if rain puddles on the flat top rain fly. Also was looking at the Teton and would like to know your pick of the two. Thanks

@@LifeWithKernelLeeI decided instead of this tent to go with something lighter and lots of easier to set up and pack and I love it for me. I bought the Country Products Trekker Tent 4 I can stand in it and put my cot in it and set my chair inside and look out the mesh doorway and it packs smaller then my night cat two person backpack tent that I had to almost crawl into. Finding out all these lay flat hammocks need a air pad, from the haven to the nightcat, I am not just going with a portaledge. I've never once in my life had any air mattresses of any kind hold air for more than a few hours with weight on em. if you're SUPER lucky, MAYBE you'll find one that'll not go flat for an entire night... but… just not worth it. That an you have to treat em like princesses. I clean AND mop my floor before putting down the air mattresseses I have tried, and they'll still manage to get holes from seemingly nothing and start leaking. Not paying 340 EXTRA dollars on top of the 340 I already paid for the entire camping kit just to sleep on a leaky air mattress. They need to think of more clever ideas to make lay flat hammocks....
