Some 31 years ago I had a mini tower with 80486-2-66, 44MB hardive (yes), and maybe 4MB Ram. It played Doom full screen in VGA, maybe SVGA. It was quite impressive. Back in the day we didn't reduce framerate, we reduced screen size. A smartphone is magnitudes more powerful now I guess.

I read somewhere (OK, it was Reddit) that the DP port can even drive a dual 4K 120 Hz (the Samsung Odyssey 57"), for non-gaming mostly of course. I don't have such a monitor yet, but am so tempted. The thing is, I kind of also need a new laptop. I mean, my 5 year old one is dying and won't drive anything but a VGA mirror. I now work from 2 phones in desktop mode, Samsung DeX and Huawei EMUI. Laptop needs a hard reset, and that will help only maybe, it may never drive an external screen properly from its 1050... So what to buy, a budget modern laptop, this mini PC, or a really cool laptop that starts at 999 Euros (Lenovo Legion 5 Slim with 4070).... Would be nice to have a desktop that lives on the desk. The laptop for travel, couch and my entry into sim racing, first on a QUHD 34" @100HZ. I can do without the mini PC, right? But, it's so cool and cute, with so many ports!

Hi, great video, I wonder if someone could help. I'm running on a desktop version of pi OS, I can rdp & ssh in, when i run openvpn it connects OK to my service but i lose rdp and ssh connectivity from my LAN, i have to reboot to get rdp and ssh to connect, any advise on why this is happening and how to fix it? i have it on a static ip and eth0 is showing correct ip when VPN is connected, i can ping out of the pi but not in from my LAN. Thank you

Your tplink router is in which mode? Router mode or accesspoint mode? If its router mode then only able to access the vpn server options. But if having isp modem then how to access these von features? Because we need to connect tplink router as access point right??

how do you add more than one device for port 1194? it will not allow you to open the port twice and it also will not allow you to add multiple IPs

Very useful video. I managed to use systemd instead of the rc.local to setup the openvpn as a service. enable, disable, start, stop , status are working fine with the systemctl command.

I use the USB interface in ASYNC mode, it's free and works flawlessly. My DAC is a Topping D70 Pro Sabre that plays marvelous: I wanted to have 12V trigger but a cheaper DAC like an SMSL D-6s would have played as nice. I used to have a Raspberry Pi 4 but i replaced it with an HP ProDesk 600 G5 DM: It is always on, runs straight MPD (Music Player Daemon, that's what's under the hood in Volumio!), RompR in a podman/docker container as MPD client. I run a couple of other VMs / Containers, like Home Assistant.

A really excellent piece of work - if closely followed it works perfectly. One thing to be aware of is that many installations now use NetworkManager by default so setting a fixed IP is a bit different. A quick Google will give the info. (Thanks for video - I hadn't set one of these up for years...your iptables reminder was a godsend.)

your instruction for enabling the VPN worked, thank u! i couldn't get it to work in pi OS GUI interface , but this worked. however qBittorrent refuses to download when this VPN is enabled. will doing that stuff with the IP tables fix it? or what can i do?

In my case, the fiber optic box I am connecting to didn't have anything like "virtual networks" or "NAT." I needed to look for Port Mapping. I got it working that way. ALSO, sending the Open VPN certificate to an iOS device is a little hard, easiest is to drop it via AirDrop, then save it Files, then grab it from there. ALSO, this video showed us how to set up a VPN with a fixed IP address but using the Dynamic DNS built into T-P Link's software is much better, since for most people that IP will change. Anyway, thanks for the excellent video!
