มุมมอง 3278 หลายเดือนก่อน
So far not many blooms yet (except for the lilacs and other early Spring perennials, which I will feature soon), but so many of the cold Hardy annuals are going to be blooming in the next few weeks and through the Summer. In this video you will see the status of the particular flowers I am growing this season. Not all are cold hardy, but listed below is what is growing now here in the Puget Sou...
Starting Pro Cut Sunflowers Early, No Greenhouse, Zone 8b Pacific Northwest

This video is specifically about growing Pro Cut sunflowers, which have a fast growth cycle (around 50-60 days). I’m actually a little late starting these sunflowers for market bouquets this year, but I will still have some ready earlier than I originally thought. Now I will have more sunflowers ready to go for bouquets throughout most of the flower season! Shout out to Northlawn Flower Farm’s ...

This video is specifically about the cold Hardy annual flowers that I started back in late summer/early fall and the seeds that I’ve planted indoors over the past several weeks. For other varieties and perennials that I’m growing now I will make another video soon. The book, Cool Flowers, by Lisa Mason Ziegler is a great starter book to help you with the process of growing these beautiful flowe...

Thank you! This was very helpful, your art is gorgeous.
Thank you!!! I’m glad it was helpful.
Where is at in Washington State? Looks like your website link is defunct.
Just a little north of Seattle. Fixed my site link, thank you for telling me! It still needs updating, but is up now.
@@allegrarosebrown238 thanks, where exactly up North? I'm just East of Port Orchard and am curious whereabout you're growing all that goodness. I see quite a few Washingtonians posting great videos like this but they often neglect to give the general area they're in. We have alot of micro-climates as you know, so one place you can grow Paw-Paw's and 10 miles away it's tuff to do so.
@I don’t want to say exactly where I am on here, but we are on a big island in the Puget Sound. It is actually not far north of port orchard. There are so many micro climates here, even on one island. My location during this video is in a zone that is called zone 8b, but I think it shares characteristics of 8b/7a.
@@allegrarosebrown238 I get it for privacy purposes but I think I understand. Hopefully you get decent well water there. We're fortunate to have artesian springs down here so we're not dependent solely on rain. Not sure about the island there; I grew up in the San Juans and our well was subpar.
@ We have a good well. Best water I’ve ever had!
Thanks for the tour. Merry Christmas!
Thank you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Awesome work Allegra 😊
Well done, 👍 Hope you’re keeping well over there
Thank you. Doing well! Hope you are too : )
Great advice, thank you
Thank you! It was a pretty long video, and I didn’t even fit everything in.
Excellent
Hellooooo!!! 😁
A salty guy here?
Did you use oil ?
For these I used watercolor
Congratulations! All of these things are super awesome!
Thank You! We have good memories of Nat Nat and Lupine : ) Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Cute little guy. Congrats!
Thank You!
So. Dang. Cute ❤
Can't help but think of FRANK,the pug in Men in Black. 😅
Hehe
I am very interested in what you have to share about the markets you are bringing your work to. That actual nuts and bolts of the process getting started, etc, if you could. Daughter has told me she want to sell her art full time, I want to be educated so I can properly support her anyway I can
Absolutely! I will get to work on that and post it as soon as I can. She is fortunate to have a dad who supports her : )
Doug The Pug
Yeah! Firsties😁Merry Christmas🎄
@@saltyshellback Merry Christmas!
Wishing you and your family the best!
You too! Nice to hear from you and Merry Christmas.
Good video, the music kinda drowns you out tho
Yes, you’re right. Thank you!
I love salmonberries! My brother and I used to pick them all the time in British Columbia and I miss them! I'm looking for someone in Washington state or Alaska with salmonberries near them to see if they'd be willing to mail me some salmonberry primacane cuttings and dug up suckers with roots.
Loved it! Loved hearing about the lard too!
My hair gets so greasy if I don’t use the right stuff
And thank you! I’m ready to party on here.
Well, first time seeing you in my feed. Not a good introduction. Who wants to hear about your "dripping lard" hair? Won't be staying.
Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, a positive shift for sure!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Yeah!!!Firsties😅
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hello Allegra, Oscar sent me, I subscribed.
Thank you! Oscar is a great guy. He is one of my TH-cam pals starting way back. I'll check out your channel.
Sounds like you're keeping busy, great testimony of God working in your life.😊
Thank you! Life is great.
Allegra's art is the BEST ART! ❤️
I remember Lady Garden Hoe 😁
Woo Hoo!!! Firsties! 😅
What a relief! : )
Thank you for the amazing tutorial and video to see the parts where to put the the thread correctly.
Love her!
Fun tour! I am in Lynden, WA 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
Thank you! Nice...Lynden. That's such a beautiful area.
Wholy smokes that's a big one
It's making me nervous
Long ago I had almost every color of this brand. It's really good paint.
I know this is long after the fact, but this video really disturbs me. How and why would you get so close to an owl? A wild bird would not let you get that close, so what is going on here? And by following it and getting in its face when it caught the rat, you risked causing it to lose its prey, and probably prolonged the rat's suffering by distracting the owl from finishing the kill. The owl was looking at you instead of paying attention to the rat.
Well spoken. Miss you
I miss you too! Hope to see you again sometime soon.
🎉Loverly🎉
Choice of music fits Superbly
Definitely speaks volumes
Those are gorgeous flowers Alegra, yu have done well with your venture. Blessings on your business. We love to grow zinnias because they can take the heat, so far. 105 today.🥵 You could also sell w.c paintings of flowers too.😊
Thank you! My Zinnia should be blooming in a couple of weeks, and I can't wait! I actually do sell my greeting cards and other drawings and paintings. I will make a video about that too.
Yeah! Firsties!!! 😁
I'm right there with you. We started our homestead in November of 2018, but I began making Junk journals and crafts this past November. Unfortunately I haven't learned how to balance the two yet. You're artwork is beautiful. I'm a writer, photographer and junk journalist, but my latest passion has been working with paper crafts. I found your channel when looking for others who made their own greeting cards. Thank you for sharing your products with us. Beautiful work!
Thank you! There’s just not enough time in the day to get all we want done! Each year I see more and more how patience pays off though. Best wishes with your journals and photography! It’s great to have passions like that.
@@allegrarosebrown238 I completely understand the "not enough time" issue. I too have a garden, chickens, a home to tend to, and if I don't give myself care NOTHING gets done. And thank you for such kind words. I appreciate you! My artwork is hobby really, but your art is genius. Blessings to you!
thank you so much!!
Thank you for filling in some gaps I had with the whole process! Can you tell me what quality paper you use for your greeting card prints?
I can’t remember but it is a pretty common card stock that most print shops carry
Ty for the video 😊 your art is gorgeous!
Lovely work! Thanks for the very useful advice about how to get my artwork made into cards and prints. Thank you! Plus your kid and your chicken are adorable!
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful.
Sp cool! Awesome work. Can't wait to see more.
Thank you!!! Hope you’re doing well.
I just have tomatoes, jalapenos, garlic, onions, and mint 😋
That’s great!
Really developing your new digs. Looks great!
Thank you Larry! Hope you’re doing well.
I can't wait to see their faces!!!
Can't wait! 🌻☺
What? In your zone, why not just plant them directly in the ground? I am in IOWA zone 4.5 and plant them directly and they do just fine in my shorter season. Also, they seed them selves from the previous year. Seems like you may just enjoy extra work, but from my 65+ years, Sunflowers do BEST when not suffering/shocked by transplants. They sprout so fast, as you point out, just plant them direct here! I have even planted seed in the fall for spring sprouts - DIRECTLY in the ground
I prepared a large bed along a 6 foot tall wire fence, I think I will have at least 6 hours full sun. I buried a soaker hose in the little gully , added aged horse manure, tons of sandy soil and laid hay all around the perimeter of this bed. I planted at least 7 varieties. Fingers crossed 🤞 I really want to grow sunflowers for my rabbits and the pollinators. I planted directly in the ground almost an inch deep.
I'll make another sunflower video. I do plant my other sunflower seeds straight in the ground, but for people who want to get an early start, it is possible to start indoors (especially with the Pro Cuts) then move outside and keep warm with agribon, low tunnels, and green houses. I know a lot of flower farmers do this, so I wanted to experiment with the process.
