It was a blessing just to spend some time with her. We had recorded a really fun "intro" to the property hunt, on the day…but "PopPop" accidentally DELETED it while transferring video! Had to re-shoot a few days later…

He’s all back to normal and enthusiastic again. When I go back to that spot, he’s not coming with me! I’m trying to have the self control to wait until my brother in law comes down in the early spring…he’d LOVE an aged spot like that!

Thanks Virgil! One of his buddies lives in an old house, right next to an 1800’s schoolhouse…so I’d like to look around there sometime. I think he and his buddy can use my Simplex, and I’ll use my Legend. Should be a fun hunt!

It’s actually a late 1800’s German Pfennig?!?! What letters I can see match perfectly. Google 1876 German pfennig

Awe man, thanks! That hunt gives me reason to try more “cold turkey” asking! Even though the cow fencer was driving me nuts, there’s more good flat ground to hunt there. Definitely going back!

It never hurts to look around! Although the closer you get to roads; the more metal trash is ALSO laying around!

Thanks Richard! Between the lawn full of pennies, and that crazy cow fencer zapping me in the headphones every 1.5 seconds…I needed the change of scenery! Just when I least expect it, another FIRST presents itself! In my experience, the fencers kind of mess with tones…and maybe even makes VDI's appear higher than normal. I was expecting a lot of those pennies to be dimes, but never found one? Good luck out there!

Interesting, thanks for the info! So far it’s 5 to 1 teeter-totter…although I heard them called see saws once in a while. I grew up in central New York State.

I couldn’t believe my eyes…TWICE in 24 hours??? I’ve found a couple 2 cent pieces, and I’m still hoping to stumble across a trime that somebody missed…because THAT’S what I think happened for me on vacation. Both of those half dimes sounded like pennies, and they were probably skipped by others. And that’s also probably why I found a good handful of Indian Head pennies, but no silvers larger than a dime. Keep looking…especially near east/west travel routes where people traveled through.
