Hey man! The that I learn by ear is by using a stem splitter like the program Moises which is what I use. I solo the guitar track and just listen closely to that while also panning left and right to see what each guitar is doing in either ear. Then just try your best to replicate what you hear. Watching live videos of this song being played helped me a bit too on where certain note placement was

Hey man! I use a quad cortex for this video and most of my tones, For PTV generally a plexi Marshall or orange amp head is good with some vintage 30 speakers in your cabinet section.
Is it on standard tuning?

How come you occasionally have three guitars playing at once ? Did they use three in the studio ?
Hey great questions!! A lot of bands especially Pierce the veil will use more than two guitars playing at once for certain sections. Most of the time it’s filler guitar to fill any empty space in the mix and sound more full. For my covers I really like to try to get them as close as possible to the original track so that includes playing even the parts where there’s more than two guitar parts playing. Pierce the veil love having little ear candy guitar parts trickled through their songs to emphasize or harmonize with the main guitars

Next time you listen to one of their songs, try listening really closely to just the guitar you’ll notice some parts will have underlying melodies that harmonize with either the other guitar parts or vocals, for example the outro in the divine zero by ptv starting at 3:22 in the song, as the song fades out more they add more guitars, I believe there’s 4 playing by the end
