If you are having problems with a smart tank printer only printing black & white, this could help. I tested this on Windows 10 and OSX Ventura and it worked on both. It's straightforward to eliminate the colour tanks as the problem by doing a scan/copy. If that's fine & in colour, then it's a driver issue most likely.

It worked! I just bought an HP Smart Tank 5101 and every page set-up-to-print shows the color image in black and white. And everything printed has been black and white. A very frustrating week this has been. I'm on an iMac Sonoma OS. I'm glad I found your video because talking to someone in the Philippines was probably going to be agony.
Glad it worked. Its nuts that HP aren't onto the situation - esp as they seem to be pushing 'tank' printers as the latest, greatest thing.

I'll be darned. THANK YOU!!! I've been messing with this for hours and would have never tried this. HP Support was useless on this issue.

Thanks this fixed my issue. I did not connect - just removed the printer and then picked "close by printer" then I could pick print in colour (which is the default). Previously only black and white was an option

I Also figured out that if I finished the HP app setup my 5100 smart tank started printing on color. I have A iMac OS Sonoma 14.5

you don't need avg, its a scamme, all you need is windows diffender and not download unsafe files.

Yes, the website looked fairly real, but the 'tech support' guy was so angry and rude it was unbelievable !!!!!
