Los Angeles | A weekend of photography under the SoCal heatwaves
I have visited Los Angeles many times since I was a boy. I guess it helps to have a few relatives there that can drive me around given that most places of interest are so scattered across the city and beyond.
Regardless of this familiarity, I never took my photographic gear and walked through the streets with the aim of recording scenes of life as it happens. I had such an opportunity on one weekend of the summer of 2022. Despite the ongoing heatwave making any outdoor activity pretty much unbearable during the late morning to the early afternoon, I was able to photograph people and places under blue skies and rosy sunsets.
The streets were surprisingly empty, not only due to the scorching heat, but very likely due to the remaining travel bans and warnings due to the infamous covid-19 pandemic that was still affecting the US badly.
