I loved that Charleton Heston was not too proud to take on a role in a soap opera. He, Stephanie Beacham, Katharine Ross, John James and Maxwell Caulfield, were great in this show. I agree with the person who said that The Colbys had no depth and that was it's downfall. The compelling storylines just weren't there. Also, I think that casting Emma Samms as Fallon, was a mistake. She was not the spit-fire that Pamela Sue Martin was. Too bad that we were never told why Pamela Sue left. From what John said, I cane to the conclusion that she was exhausted, or having emotional conflicts. I know that she went through 3 divorces and is living, I believe in Montana but it would have been nice to have gotten her take on the matter.

There were two major flaws with this show: 1. What did Jason see in Frankie over Sable? 2. What did either of them see in Jason? There were two major draws to this show 1. Stephanie Beacham who outshone them all. 2. Maxwell Caulfield, particularly when he was wearing as little clothing as possible. Lol

When they killed off miles ... i was DONE. & jeff was in constant turmoil so THAT was tiresome. & i never liked emma sams as fallon, she was NEVER a fallon & i think the audience resented it. Constance & SABLE held the show to its 🌟

This was very well done. Glad they focused mainly on Beecham, Caufield, and James here. Too many other talking heads would've spoiled this.

The wonderful era when soaps ruled Daytime and Primetime unfortunately replaced by the current insipid talk and so called reality shows.

The 'awakening' these guys brought out in me is still so palpable hehe!!!!

Not so bad television show, branch-off. Actually, quite entertaining for the only 2 seasons it lasted and was actually more interesting during the same 2 seasons that original Dynasty was experiencing a lul in it's own plots and storylines thanks to the Moldavian massacre aftermath and some bland uninteresting guest star characters. I think The Colbys deserved a 3rd season without that horrid UFO sideline, of course, but then again., we wouldn't have gotten the merging of Sable folded into the once again interesting and final season of Dynasty, I suppose.

Great interview s and show! I really wish season 2's ending would have been an intro of a California police office with Pamela Sue Martin saying my name is Fallon Carrington I need to speak to my father! That way Jeff gets Fallon, Miles gets Kendall❤

Des acteurs certains étaient bons d autres complètement nuls si ils avaient eus du succès ils auraient très connus donc pour moi non des acteurs et des intrigues très mauvais à part Barbara stanwick et tracy scoggins et Stéphanie beach am et bien sûr le regrette et gentlemen Ricardo de montalban

Ce spin off aurait pu être mieux réalisé mais les intrigues auraient étés beaucoup mieux faites, par exemple la résurrection de Philippe colby aurait été plus logique dans ce contexte : Il revient amnésique du vietnam et à eu des brûlures au visage et aux mains donc impossible à authentifier pour les empreintes digitales et cela tiendrait la route les horreurs de la guerre 😊ensuite pour Francesca sa subite réapparition pour Jeff aurait pu être interprétée par une manipulation de cecil Colby en lui faisant croire qu elle a perdue son enfant et que c était une fille substitution à la maternité et Jeff colby le neveu de cecil aurait pu être un enfant de la sœur de son ex femme imaginaire et qu il aurait adopté comme son neveu et pas comme son fils, ensuite pour l intrigue de connie qui a été marié qu est devenu son mari ? Il est mort ? Il a divorcé ? L histoire n'en parle pas, pour sable la cousine d Alexis ça tient la route pour Monica l avocate et l émancipation de la femme à l époque ça tient la route, pour miles un vrai sociopathe ça tient plus que la route, bliss ne sert à rien, garett est une potiche tu parles d un avocat, pour Jason surjoue par l acteur et pas de charisme ni de personnalité alors que j adorais Charlton Heston, pour Jeff le pivot de la série toujours une victime qui se crée des ennemis dans sa famille et chez les Carrington s, bref les colbys un raté sans précédent

These stories were all way too slow and boring. This show became interesting and fun only after Alexis entered, stage right. Joan’s character was the anchor that all the rest of them pivoted off. I can’t believe they made a documentary about putting the show together without mentioning its biggest star. Without Alexis this show never would have gone past the second season. This is like Dallas without JR, or Falcon Crest without Angella.

The Colby’s just didn’t do a good job of distinguishing itself from Dynasty like Knots Landing did distinguishing itself from Dallas. KL had its own identity.

....And that memorable flying saucer ending!!

Ahhhh, that final courtroom scene as the episode closes with Alexis walking off the witness stand and past Blake then she turns around and gives him that wicked smile......that look was everything.

The key was he didn't play any stereotypes within his portrayal. 🙂

His chemistry with Pamela Sue Martin's Fallon was off the charts.

Max Caulfield was also in 2000's Stripmall with Julie Brown, making prono movies because of his sizable ....Caulfield. lol. Also in 1985's Boys Next Door with Charlie Sheen. Killing several people for fun until Sheen's character took out MCs character, also at a shopping mall.

The first season of Dynasty was actually really good. Yes, it was darker and less camp, but Al Corley's portrayal of Steven was excellent, and I loved Pamela Sue Martin's take on Fallon. The recast to Emma Samms didn't really work until the final season, but by then, it was all too late. I don't think any of the recasts in Dynasty were successful, really. The worst was Amanda!

I don't remember Falon being such a bitch. I got the series on disc for Christmas. Gon start watching it again. I was in middle school when the show started so we were there every Wednesday night at 10pm on ABC. Dallas was Friday nights at 10pm same network. Then followed the Colby,s which I lost interest in.

The same soap formula only at night. Lifestyles of the rich and famous had a similar format. Now it’s just excess. Fortunes made and lost.
