KOPESHOW EP.11 LYNGEN ALPS - FIRST DESCENT OF THE BUS. "THE BIGGEST CORNICE I HAVE EVER SEEN"
Calum had a look at fatmap and this couloir was the first thing he saw.
So why not check it out?
The couloir has been on my radar for years, but I've never had the courage to check it out because of the big cornice and the two cruxes.
This is the gear I use for hard boot split boarding.

KOPESHOW EP.10 LYNGEN ALPS - FIRST DESCENT, EAST FACE OF DURMÅLSTINDEN
มุมมอง 10Kวันที่ผ่านมา
My friend Juho Knuuttila told me about this line and he made it sound like a proper mission. So @EivindAanensen & @SalsaSauss joined for this mad mad mission. It was a long approach to a big and serious line with a lot of exposure from the moment we stepped into the face. Hot tip, contact Juho Knuuttila for guiding. He is a machine of whatever the mountain has to offer! This is the gear I use f...
KOPESHOW EP.9 - GUHKKESGAISI NORTH COULOIR. SKIING A CLIMBING ROUTE IN LYNGEN ALPS.
มุมมอง 13K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
After spotting this route a few days ago, I knew I had to explore it. It’s a renowned climbing line featured in the guidebook, promising a true adventure. I had the pleasure of being joined by Eivind Jacobsen (@ejacobz) for this incredible experience. The route presented a mix of ice and rock, making the descent challenging, and ultimately requiring us to complete three rappels. Probably a firs...
KOPESHOW EP.8 - FIRST DESCENT - JIEHKKEVARRI 1672 EAST FACE
มุมมอง 11K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
This episode of KOPESHOW wasn't part of the original plan. We had set out for Jiehkkevarri with the simple intention of scoping out the line, nothing more. As we ascended, the wind picked up, howling around us, and the line kept slipping in and out of the fog, playing hide and seek with our expectations. The cold was biting, and I could barely film at first. My hands were numb, freezing despite...
KOPALA - Overcoming Trauma In The Big Mountains TRAILER
มุมมอง 3.3K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
In the remote mountains of Kvænangen in Arctic Norway, big mountain snowboarder Krister Kopala prepares for the first descent of a treacherous, unnamed northern face. Driven by childhood trauma, the mountains have become a refuge for him. Is he searching for a way to be more present? Is he searching, subconsciously, to be closer to death? Or is he searching for life? The film KOPALA will embark...
KOPESHOW EP. 7 LYNGEN ALPS - FIRST DESCENT, NE RAMP OF JIEHKKEVARRI
มุมมอง 13K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
After trying this line two years ago and having to turn back, it has been in the back of my mind since then. @EivindAanensen & @SalsaSauss skied the north east couloir some weeks earlier and had good fotos off the line. And after some new snow we decided to give it a try. It couldn't have been better conditions, it all came together and we had the best time riding this line. Thanks boys! This i...
KOPESHOW EP.6 LYNGEN ALPS - FIRST DESCENT, SW FACE OF HOLMBUKTTINDEN.
มุมมอง 12K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Back up north in the Lyngen Alps, and the conditions are really good at the time. So Eivind Aanensen and I decided to check out a line we have been looking at for some time. Even tho its not a snowy year up high in Lyngen, we still managed to ride the line and I think in the future, it might be a classic steep ski line. This is the gear I use for hard boot split boarding. www.furbergsnowboards....
KOPESHOW EP.5 CHAMONIX - THE MOST EXPOSED LINE I'VE EVER DONE
มุมมอง 55K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
The line is called Voie Fontaine and its a climbing route, it was first skied by Rémy lé cluse and emmanuel ratouis on the 7th of may 1998. And since then it has been repeated less than 5 times. Skiing these big lines is a whole new world for me and the experience Leo and the other people of Chamonix have is just mind blowing! Thanks to Leo for taking me on this wild adventure! le...
KOPESHOW EP.4 CHAMONIX - GLACIER ROND, COSMIQUES COULOIR. VERY DEEP, VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY GOOD
มุมมอง 21K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
This day I went out with the local legends Gaspard Ravanel and Nico Borgeot, we skied the classic Glacier Rond and Cosmiques couloir. We skied it two days after a storm and the snow hadn't got enough time to stabilize, so there was a bit touchy some places. RIP fatmap
Aaaahh! Chapeau!
Even got a nice shot off the rare yellow snow on the top
Krister @ drop-in: "it's super chill" 😮
Samenamena eh eh waka waka eh eh
Do you just leave the anchors behind?
Loving the mountain silliness.
Killing it man. You are pushing your boundaries in a seemingly calculated manner. Hats off to you
When underneath a massive cornice, always shout out a big “JEPPAI!!”, especially if your buddy is directly in its path. 😅
those pee spots hahah, love it
Was hoping to find some ice🤪
A useful product placement in the middle of a steep couloir. I like it, and the glasses look awsome. Keep shredding it.
Shredding the gnar, fax no printer!
You are craziest riders I’ve ever seen)
Craaaszy🤩
Holy smackaroni
Still running the phantom bindings?
I'm not stupid xD
I like your stuff here. But . . . seems like a bit more of a luck quotient than skill/smarts here. The problem with being young, confident and excited in the alpine, is that, the more days you spend in that terrain, the more likely it is that the mountain will take its pound of flesh. Its like taking a piece of sand from the hourglass, pretty soon, the sand is gone, and the luck quotient runs out. Only saying this from experience and from friends who were as onfident and motivated as you but have died. The mountains always win, just remember that. [I would have turned around on this at the moment of your first hasty pit, looked sketch to me.] Rant over, keep posting, i love armchairing this awesome stuff. Wish i was there.
I guess it's hard to communicate everything in a way that fits everyone when doing videos like this. We are not perfect and still learning a lot, but also we have spent a lot of hours in that area this winter and that makes a good base for our decisions. I appreciate the thought! Thanks
Great to see you make good decisions to ride another day. What a rad line
Despite all the stink in the world, stuff like this makes it a better place. No ads or blah subscribe, just smart friends doing consequential shit in the mighty outdoors. Props on setting your turnaround policy before you go ;)
Thanks!
nice one!, adding taste test to next avalanche briefing;)
HahaHa the good old corn taste test!
That was some steep shit!
You Norwegians are beasts. Love to watch what you can achieve. Always inspirational. M
Hot damn man, ripping exposed lines like it's a ski hill
Vad för pjäxor kör du när du inte kör disruptives? Dessa gula alltså

Damn airplanes always get the adrenaline flowing
You’re amazing, mate. Please be safe….. NM, this shit is never safe 😂🤘

Good call to back off the last little bit, not worth the risk for so little.
🤟
Lunatics 🔥🔥
Airplane jumpscare mannnn....
Epic line man, beautiful mountain

Krister, I know its a slim chance, but will Kopola be showing anywhere in the US? I'd drive cross country to see this in a theater.
Yo! Maybe! We are doing a film festival circuit now, so if you know about a good venue to set up the film, let me know! krister_kopala@hotmail.com
Kia Ora from New Zealand. This is a great rundown of gear! I’ve been split boarding for about 6years and I’ve finally decided to do the switch from soft boots to hard ones. I do a lot of mountaineering splitting, and New Zealand snow conditions are usually quite icy so ski crampons are a key item to have. I’m interested to know what ski crampons you use for your boot/binding/board setup? Cheers 😊
Big time

So good! The Gopro doesn`t do the steepness and exposure of the line justice. Just an insane mission! And props for your really good swiss german skills =)
