Porcupine Tree - The Sound of Muzak | Drum Cover
Here's my interpretation of Porcupine Tree's "The Sound of Muzak", originaly recorded by the amazing Gavin Harrison!
Gavin's playing is very spontaneous, you can find many different videos of him playing this song, in clinics and concerts, and he is always changing his approach to fills, ghost notes and other details. So I played it in my own way, keeping the main elements of the song and trying to keep his vibe, which is pretty hard since his playing is so elegant and precise...

The Greatest Drum Exercise

Download the PDF here: transcriptions.drumosapiens.com (Lesson 033) In this lesson I show one of my favorite exercises for working on hands and feet! This is one of the first exercises shown by the great Tommy Igoe on his DVD "Great Hands for a Lifetime". Since I always played with a double-pedal, I started using the same idea with my feet, and it helped me a lot on developing a better techniqu...
Neil Peart and his Drum Parts | Drum Lesson
มุมมอง 1.1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
One of the coolest aspects of Neil Peart's approach to creating a drum part for a song is that he was always trying not to repeat the same grooves and fills throughout a tune. In this lesson I use Rush's song "Subdivisions" as an example of that approach, showing 4 different 7/8 grooves that are played in each verse of the song. Check out my drum cover for Subdivisions: th-cam.com/video/8u6fj_Q...
Rush - Subdivisions | Drum Cover
มุมมอง 3243 ปีที่แล้ว
When I was discovering Progressive Rock, Rush really got my attention, and Neil quickly became a huge influence on me. One of the coolest aspects of Neil's drumming, in my opinion, is the way he approached his drum parts for the music of Rush. It's pretty clear that each note was placed carefully, always concerned of not repeating the exact same grooves or fills throughout a composition, creati...

what's the difference on a roll or a repeating paradiddle
Amazing work man! thank you
I play it.. RR LL RL. It rolls much better. But I like your way to. RR Tom LL Tom. RL snare.
Awesome. The 6 stroke roll as triplets is my go to especially with blues.
I’ve been doing this since I was 13 playing the Badger Strut snare solo! Great explanation.
Dig it! Thank you! Just spend over an hour learning this. Do you have a video on how you record your videos? I’d like to record similar quality , both video and audio. Thank you
this is amazing!! What a good explanation!
I enjoy your ideas amd creative orchestrations. Every groove and fill pulls me in so i WANT to play it. Love practicing with Drumo
Very clear ankle technique demo on the kick-cam. Thank you
Great lesson!

Thanks for this structured breakdown. I've been trying unlock the six stroke for tasty fills and this lesson really helped.
This video has been set up so it can't be *Saved* to a playlist.
excellent lesson, thanks!!
Clear, concise, and complete instruction. No ambiguity at all! Absolutely brilliant! You the guy to sub to!
Thanks for the consistent cool lesson!!!
How in the hell you dont have more views lol. There must be shit tons of drummer on youtube lol
Awesome! Thank you bro!
This is fantastic. Thank you.
We need more content like this... I just watched 5 of your videos!
I know i can use a metronome and practice it as slow as i like, but it's fun to play along to the video and learn on my pratice pad as i watch, would be coolif you did a 40 and 60 bpm part to play along too.
Proof that it's all about the heads and recording and not the drum material. Awesome job!! Only advice I would give is during the chorus use the bell on the ride :)
Very nice lesson sir!
Really great breakdown of the fill and how to use it either as a fill or inside the groove.
Great content and very well explained. I hope this can reach more people.
This is a great lesson. Subscribed Thank You
Amazing video guy, Arron so kind Rip to the legend.
EXCELLENT JOB!!!! Thanks for the great instruction!!
3:14 unlocked a whole new world to me. I couldn’t figure out how to incorporate the standard six stroke role using 16th notes into a fill. Thank you for breaking it down.
This is awesome thanks man! 🤙
Just subbed to your channel….Awesome lessons and covers !! 👍👍🔥
woo it killing me😅😅😅😅
Deje la verraca partitura cuando este tocando.
I notice at 9:00 when you were playing the groove on both HH and snare, you shifted your right arm forward and left hand back, both just a bit, so that you were no longer crossing sticks. This gives you the same benefit as "open" style players. I find myself doing this a lot when I want to get complicated two-handed HH accents into a groove. I've moved my snare position a little left, and keep the HH as far right as possible, to facilitate this. The only drawback is that every now and then I whack my right hand with my left stick - and have nail blood blisters to show for it.
Muy bueno!!!
Love the variations, havin fun jammin this❤
Oh cool, I’m glad you liked it! 🤘🥁
It is very useful drum lessons in odd time signatures.

Hey Stephen, I just released a brand new drum book about odd time signatures, check it out: hotm.art/oddtimes
That was a really good lesson. I only recently memorized the 6 stroke roll that you just demonstrated. I am still working on mastering it on the practice pad and was wondering how I could use it in a drum fill in real life. That is when I came across your video. I really appreciate the way you broke it down and slowed it down and gave several examples of how to incorporate it into a usable fill on the drum set. I am a schooled musician from taking some lessons from professional drummers like yourself but I myself am still at a very intermediate level at best. I am always in awe of people who have truly mastered this instrument. I am a senior student and do not have the flexibility and advantage of youth. My brain, however, is still fairly sharp. Drumming keeps me occupied and will hopefully keep me out of the nursing home for many more years. Thanks again for this great lesson. I really appreciate it.

Thanks, Keith, that’s always my goal with these videos! 🤘🥁
