Can you really tell the difference?
Is there any difference between Channel cat and Blue cat when it comes to eating them? This is a clean and cook video viewer discretion advised. lol Thanks for watching!!!

I had to replace my starter . Good video explaining everything. Saved me lots of time.
Thank God for this video
Dude - I don't care what Anybody Says or Thinks ... What you did to that wire is an UPGRADE in my opinion! That ridiculous plug with that stupid clip thing on it is a BAD DESIGN - Nuthin' Wrong with using a Simple Ring Terminal to connect... In Fact, it's probably BETTER!
I've Upgraded all my Grounds on my 2018 and even added on a few New Grounds. These Brittle Wire Harnesses are a Joke. Sometimes Easier is just EASIER!!
Couldn’t agree more. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
I hate that the heat source is dead in the middle
un grand merci depuis la France 😊
Im over here workin on a sump pump. Brilliant! Thanks a bunch bud!
What salt to be used? After adding salt it should be kept outside for how many hours
Just to end my own question, I got the answer from a dealer in Norway. On smaller engines, the switch is located under the separate oil tank. :)
I See You already answer'd related to carlking''s 115 hp.. anyway mine is an old machine from 2006, runs great, but will not pass 2500,-
Hi, I have a 75 hp with the same problem .won't run above 2500 rpm,, I cant find the swith you show in this great video.. Do you know if it could be placed in the handle-bar assembly at the controll-panel ? Regards Paal
Will thawed frozen shrimp work?
Yes. It will work just fine.
You can't get the water pump bolts out because of electrolysis I would've checked all the zincs in there powerhead because with the aluminum hull it's just going to eat that engine like it was a vat of acid
There isn’t any anodes in the power head on a Mercury Verado. Electrolysis is just one of the many joys of life on the coast. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What year is this Optimax?
2011
Takes about 30 min to get out and 30 min to put back in. 10 minutes cussing 10 min resting your neck And 10 min of actual work
lol. Perfect description. Thank you!!!
Thanks
No problem. Thanks for watching!
i using pure white coarse salt i don't know it will work or not
Should work with no problem. Thanks for watching!
Great vid, thanks. The tips and commentary are super helpful, and critical - a mic would minimize background noise and completely transform watchers' ability to hear you!
Thanks for the comment. I am still working on getting all the necessary gear for this channel but it is expensive especially for someone who isn’t making any money off of the videos. I did just buy some editing software that should help with the background noise in future videos. A mic is definitely on the list to purchase and needed especially in that noisy old barn. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video. I've done two of those. Broke red clip both times. Whats the trick on the red clip 😅
Thanks. Use a little flathead screwdriver and gently pry it back towards the wire. It shouldn’t have to be taken completely out but it happens sometimes. Dirt, dust and brittle plastic sometimes makes it impossible unfortunately. If you want to get a clear look at how it works check out the plug on your MAF sensor it operates the same way and is very easy to see.
thanks, good one. Another bitch diagnosed
Should be put in the freezer or bottom part of the refrigerator I mean just cool it
I just keep it in the bottom of the fridge but the freezer will work if you don’t have the extra space.
@@sloth-worxwhich salt should be used with fine salt or coarse ideal
I would choose finer grain salt but I wouldn’t have a problem using the cheapest most available option.
where is the shift switch on a 2008 mercury optimax 115
It should be attached to the bracket the shift cable slides in. Looking at an old parts diagram it appears that the wires that connect it to the main wire harness may use bullet connections instead of a single plug. They can be hard to see, if you can find the wire they will lead you to it. There is always a chance someone removed an and just connected the wires together. Hope this helps you out. Good luck
Best salty shrimp video I've seen in years.
Thanks for the kind words.
Add a pinch of garlic powder... For bass use a little anise..try to use pool salt or sea salt. For catfish do the same with chicken pieces welcome to nevwr being skunked again Works great with squid
Great tips! I need to try some chicken.
I'm going to try this with creekchubs, common carp fillets, bluegill fillets, and shad to fish for channel catfish. If this works, I will be vacuum sealing the baits and storing them in my garage in a 5-gallon bucket with a screw-on lid. I hope this goes well. It so, it will free up space in my freezer for more catfish nuggets instead of storing frozen bait. 😉
Thank you
How long can you keep the bait in refrigerated
I have some that’s been in my fridge for a little over a year. Just make sure it’s sealed in a bag or container so it doesn’t continue to dry out. We will just pull out what we need when we get the chance to go fishing. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Checked this one I unplugged it and it work so I said it’s the switch but I replaced it and it was still doing it won’t rev up then I took it back off kept the wires plugged but not installed and it’s working again. Need help seems to be working without it installed with the wires connected. What else could it be?
Check that the switch still operates smoothly by hand after it’s installed. If the screws are too tight or some kind of imperfection in the mounting surface may jam up the new switch.
It’s not the issue. I end up taking it to the shop. Hopefully it’s an easy fix will update
Do you leave it out over night??? Not in the fridge or freezer?
I just leave it out through the salting process. Once bagged up I refrigerate until I am ready to use it. The salted baits can go without refrigeration for a few days even weeks before goes bad. Thanks for commenting and watching!!!
What diagnostic system are you using?
I’m using the Mercury g3 software.
That entire plastic piece you cut in half crapped out on me, the starter is in fine working order otherwise I wonder where I can find just that
I haven’t tried it yet but I would be tempted to just wire it up straight to the terminals on the solenoid and delete that little plastic piece all together. I know the switch wire will work, just need to make sure there is enough wire on the main wire and bend the ring terminal a bit to work. Otherwise junkyard if you have any close by. Good luck with your project.
If it is melted I would be concerned that there is something else wrong that needs to be addressed first.
@@sloth-worx i didn’t see anything melted I think I just ran into the same problem as you with the switch wire and the guy who owned the truck before me must not have bolted the main wire well enough because the nut was missing and the terminal on the starter side was damaged from vibration
That makes sense. If the starter side is messed up beyond getting a nut back on there you will unfortunately have to get a new starter.
awesome , thanks
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
I ate a lot of cat fish when I was younger when my dad and I went fishing. But I do not like farm raised cat fish.
I feel like a lot of people that say they hate catfish have only ever eaten farm raised. My wife was one of them! She enjoys eating them now and catching them is definitely a great way to spend time with loved ones. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
I use the Louisiana Fish Fry in the blue bag all the time. Best store bought breading I ever tasted for flavor and crispness, but what was the one in the yellow pack called. I sometimes mix about a third of cracker meal with the blue Louisiana, if my fillets are thick. I find that it makes the breading stick just a little better. Tell me about that other breading. I want to try it.
It is Louisiana brand as well, it’s the New Orleans style. The cornmeal and flour is a finer grind and it has more lemon flavor (maybe a bit much for my taste by itself). I started out using half a bag of the yellow bag to one of the blue but now I just use 1:1. We get great coverage on the filets and the pop of the lemon is a little something different most people aren’t used to. Their etouffee and cobbler mix are worth a try as well. This is not a paid advertisement just highly recommend products lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Looks very tasty. Another great video , take care Amigo
Thank you! 👍
Very well done great video That's what I needed. Even my plug was in ok. I have no crank. ..so I'm going to pick up a new single wire high temp plug so a mount on end on starter the other on wire. So it's easier to in stall. Great great great video
Thanks for the compliment. Glad the video helped out. Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
thank god for you! i had a leaky fitting in my hot tub!
Good deal glad the video helped out. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Best video on TH-cam on how to replace a starter.
Thanks so much for the kind words.
Bout to tackle this exact job. Pretty sure my starter is fine and the plug has simply become dry rot. Gunna burn $300 on a new starter anyway. If I’ve gotta remove it, might as well replace it. Definitely getting rid of that plug. Think I’ll find a ring terminal that fits instead of cutting and bending a small one. (Not saying what you did doesn’t work. 😊 Thank you for the video. Gives me a bit of confidence going into it. Gotta buy a damn floor jack before I can start, SHOOT!
lol. It not to bad of a job, sometimes the new starter will fight you trying to get it back up in position but it will fit back in there. Thanks for watching and commenting!!! Good luck with the repair.
Thanks for the video sir. I was actually looking to find how the water circulation
Glad this video was helpful. Thank you for watching and commenting!!!

Thanks so much!!! People that take the time to subscribe is definitely what keeps me motivated to do more. Thanks again, it really means a lot!
I am worried that if this fails, my outboard will be effectively hooked up to 24 volts. Could this thing failing hurt my outboard?
I don’t think there’s anyway to get more than 12v to the outboard as long as the power and ground wires are only connected to one of the batteries. If the trollbridge fails I believe that you will not get 24v to the trolling motor or your batteries won’t parallel and you will only be charging the outboard/house battery. With that said it would definitely be possible to manually connect the wires to the wrong battery terminals and create an issue. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Great video! Gotta try this!
Thank you! Give it a go we’ve been having great success catching multiple species in fresh and saltwater. Wish I would have started salting baits years ago. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Funny to see you guys on TH-cam . All the best
Thank you. Good to hear from you as well. If you’re ever in the area we should catch up. 👍
Never knew , great video Buddy
Thank you! It really does work awesome.
Are there any grease fittings on the 300?
No grease fittings on Verado. You can spray some corrosion X or something similar where the engine pivots while steering if you want but I generally don’t mess with it. Thanks for watching and commenting!!

You saved my a$$. Thank you for this video. 10/10. Strongly recommend!

Can you run your trolling motor while the engine is on ?
You should be able to. There will be 24 volts at the trolling motor and 12 volts at the engine, but the engine will only be charging the battery the engine is connected to. With that said I’ll have to give it a try next time we go out. Thanks for commenting and watching!!!
Tried it today. Trolling motor work as it should with the outboard running. Only one battery will be charging with the trolling motor switch on though.
Thanks for the video. Ive considered these for the same reason you used them, which is an intermittent vibration around 70mph. This happens even after a fresh balance and rotation. Has the noise gotten any better over time below 22mph?
By design the noise will never go away. I really don’t pay much attention to it anymore and honestly can’t hear it at all with the windows up. Thanks for commenting and watching!!!
Thanks for replying! I’m going to bite the bullet and get a wedge ready for the installation.
Good deal. The wedge was definitely the way to go. lol
Thank you for that video,I had the same thing happened to me when I changed my starter and that modification you showed worked great
Good deal, glad to hear this video is helping. Thanks for commenting and watching!!!
Wish I watched this video yesterday.lol Took me 4 hours. I broke my red plastic tab off too. I still tried to plug it back in but went to start it and wouldn’t crank. I have lights on my cluster and headlights. I’m gonna do the ring terminal too. Great thinking sir! I’m confused a bit. Is the wire you put the ring terminal on the negative or positive charge?
@@ucm7ucm791 It’s the signal wire, when the key is turned it engages the solenoid on the starter
