Love your Interview i spoke with Jimmy about 15 years ago about making a film
Ive been to every place he mentioned. I have a question tho. Why none of his restaurants are still around?
This is where fat Joe get capping from. Wow
🔥 This interview was a MASTERCLASS in entrepreneurship, resilience, and the art of reinvention! Jimmy Rodriguez is a living legend in the hospitality game, and his insights on leadership, mentorship, and adaptability were GOLD. His stories-from throwing Prince out of his club to hosting the Kardashians and David Bowie-were insane! 😱 But beyond the celebrity moments, what stood out most was his passion for elevating others and staying ahead of the curve in an ever-changing industry. Real recognizes real, and The Real Mentors Podcast is bringing the kind of conversations that aspiring entrepreneurs NEED to hear. Sean Martin, you asked all the right questions and let the conversation flow in such an organic way. This is how you do a podcast! 🎤🔥 Much respect to Jimmy for sharing his wisdom and experiences-40+ years in the game, and he’s still just getting started. 🙌🏽 Can't wait to see what’s next! #Legendary #HospitalityKing #RealMentorsPodcast #JimmyRodriguez #BronxIcon

Awesome, thank you!
Jimmy was the place to go back in the 90s, then the food wasn't the same
Yep I remember he never made it the David Bowie concert!!! We were at the Downtown location and NEVER showed up!!! It was the talk of the week with the whole team there!!! Never forget!! lol
I had the honor and pleasure to be his DJ at Jimmy’s Bronx Cafe with DJ Lobo and his first DJ at Jimmy’s Downtown! Too many memories with this man!!! DJ Alex Rumba. Everything he mentions, facts!!!
Wow what a great interview. need a part two.. Blessings my P.R. family!
Part 2 is out now brother. It's more about life and the business aspects of entrepreneurship. Thanks for your support. Please drop a follow and stay tuned for more great content weekly.

Thank You
Perfect Clip, in reference to Jimmy & the journey. Love the swagger!💪🏽👏🏽🙏🏽
TY
My best friend and I used to go to Jimmy’s all the time, one time the place was packed more than usual and the host said no tables available. Guess who walked up and said naw those are my guys and he himself got a table for us. We were only 20 yrs old working college kids. I was also there the last night the Bronx location was opened. Jimmy is the man. Till this day I always tell these stories.
Thank you Jimmy for all the wonderful experience and allow me to perform at Jimmy's and have my event there to this day it's still memorable in the b-boy community.... Jimmy's Bronx Cafe for life❤💯💯🙏🙏
Some of the best nights of my life took place at Jimmy's! My mom saved his life. All BX folks have mad stories to tell with or about Jimmy. Great interview Sean
Thank you. Tell us more about your mom and Jimmy. I’m sure he’d love to hear more.
Jimmy is a genius. Two great interviews. Congratulations #IknowJimmy
JIMMY is the man! I worked for him, great human being! Really!
Very educational interview regarding the hospitality industry. Thank you and keep up the great work. Sigue Pa’lante
Jimmy is amazing! He offers great food, a wonderful ambiance, and is a fantastic host.
restaurant is the worst business.
Not when money and laundering is involved. We are talking about 40-30-20 years back less IRS and less red flags. Hospitality Business 👀✍🏼
Maybe. But the liquor business is great! That's why most of these places also function as a lounge/club and not only a restaurant. What's the worst is NYC regulations and rules. They make it harder than it needs to be for ANY business. Talking from experience here.
Great interview. I went there all the time. Even saw the gran combo preform live in the club part. Always a good atmosphere in there. Food was good and also the crowd. It’s good when we see people rise to so what they like. Very grateful for you doing this interview brought back many memories. Good job.
Glad you enjoyed it
Jimmy I am so inspired and proud of you of your accomplishments and leadership skills but a very humble dude but you test the waters he can be gangsta! Dope interview!
You brought up Jimmy's "welcoming" personality. He forgot to mention something he did alot back in the day at Jimmy's Cafe. When he walked on his dance floor his pet peeve was to see people not dancing. He would then make his presence felt by grabbing 2 strangers, man & woman, and put them together for 1 song. That right there went a loooong way😂... good memories
lol. That’s awesome. Now…these kids don’t even dance when they party.
@REALMentorsPodcast ha! Jimmy would have a tough time getting them outta their phones today🤦🏾♂️
Great Interview Now Let's me Make the Movie
That would be sick
great interview
Thank you
Shawn & Jimmy, Thank you for taking us along your experiences in personal & life lessons.🎙🍽🍷🤝🏽
TY. Please subscribe and stay tunes. More great content coming soon
Bravo well done. Mr. Rodriguez is an institution of the city of NY. I respect the immense knowledge he has obtained through the many many years of being in the hospitality industry also, setting the standard of doing it right. His ability to adapt to the changing times and themes of hospitality, to have his finger on the pulse of that industry is the true sign of a serious and successful professional. But I will admit, I am a product of going to Jimmys Bronx Cafe in the 90's, a kid who grew up in the Bronx and remembers when that location was an Oldsmobile dealership and Pathmark was down the road. I'm sorry but that generation of people (my age 50-60) that atmosphere that edge that swag and the secrets will never be duplicated. Another reason why I believe Mr. Rodriguez is so successful is because, he is a man who was brought up with the old school code.....never ever kiss and tell. Im sure Mr. Rodriguez could pen a very interesting and tell all novel about his life in the hospitality industry and especially about all he saw and witnessed at Jimmys Bronx Cafe but of course, Mr. Rodriguez being the man and professional he is..... that will never happen. Much love and respect to all associated with this pod cast
Thank you brother

Jimmy don’t get the props he deserves! Dude is an icon not just in the BX but in NYC hands down. Very humble and always polite. Met him when he had “the Patio” in JBC back in ‘95/96 I became good friends with a waitress there and she would always speak of his generosity & how he looked out for her. Straight up guy and I will forever support any and all of his endeavors. Continued blessings, Jimmy!
Same soft spoken Jimmy 80s Good friend god bless.
Thanks for listening. And yes, He’s still the same guy
What a time to be alive you had to be there
I’ve never had bad Spanish food until Tito puentes restaurant ….worst food ever ….even the rice was bad ….had this same convo with lots of people that felt the same …. But now I know why and I feel better lol
Dope interview salute 🫡 big Bronx

The Jimmy's on Fordham was something different for the bronx. Cars double parked all night long 1993🎯🎬💯
JIMMY
24:21 that’s is very true
I went to Jimmy Cafe to find out that every waitress and floor manager was stealing on the floor right in front of our own faces like gangsters with no shame after getting caught. Every time you asked for your check the waiter or waitress were fluently adding an extra 20% without your consent or knowing if you didn't check or add your check. I visited three times and every time they were caught and had to fix the check.🤔
I worked for this man back when Don Coqui still existed in city island. Then I worked at his Don coqui in the heights, which also closed. There’s so much inflated fame given to this man. Truth is, they were ALWAYS owing the employees money. A minimum of a month’s worth of pay was owed to at-least 95% of his employees, in both restaurants. Most Checks were always rebounding. He and his managers were keeping the tips from the floor staff. This man is the worst employer I have ever worked for. He criticizes Sammy’s for hiring Mexicans to cook rice and beans? Please! That’s the same type of people he hired in ALL his restaurants. His no role model, he’s not a figure to follow and ask for business advice from. One of the biggest crooks in the Bronx
We PR are not going to back another PR when he is wrong.. black people backed blk artist like r Kelly and bill Cosby etc..
Excellent interview with a legend, an unsung hero to the community. Thank you. I just subscribed!
