Much appreciated!
Volunteers rock!
Really appreciate the Yeomans' effort Sean and Deanna! Sky to Summit would NOT have happened without you two! Notched my first 50k here but forgot my cigarette at the finish.
hahahah! :)
Awesome job Sean! 👍
Thanks! 👍
What's the fascination with safety vest these groups have?
To live rent free in people like yours' heads.
Wow I just learned of this in 2024. I maybe had a shot back in 2020, but let my training slip over the last couple years. Now I have motivation for getting my ass training hard again. 2026 is the goal. Thanks for the video and the inspiration.
Lfg!!!
Interesting!
I'm fkn stoked for the 50k, sounds sick beyond belief. Thanks for making this happen!
Hell yeah dude thanks man!!! LFG
Are we there yet?
Hey Kevin!!
Thank you for the inspiring video ! #brasilhere
that's awesome! obrigado!
Loved this, all of the answers are awesome!
Thanks !
Because running is free of course! Let’s keep it so .
Races usually aren't, but I'll gladly pay a reasonable price for the time, effort, and resources that go into giving us such incredible experiences!
Enjoying the podcast in Spotify and just discovered they are in a video on TH-cam too! Great content. Thank you! - Nellie B.
Great advice Scott!!
What you said at the beginning is so much how I feel about even asking for anyone’s help on an ultra. To me, it’s a big ask on someone’s time who may not really ‘get’ the whole thing … or really understand the time commitment. So, I usually don’t bother to ask!
Awesome
As you said at end, i'd rather carry everything with me as I can't guarantee drop bags will be there. I'm like you that I'd rather not use crew unless I know they love it - and who really does? I'll be doing Cloudland 50m tomorrow self supported even tho my family came with me. I think it's also more rewarding to know you did it on your own, yet they are stikl there at finish line to congratulate you!
Good stuff. Incredible cabin 😮
This is awesomeness! I think I rambled a bit... but it was unfiltered 😂
This is a perfect video
Fun recap! Always enjoy hearing others experiences. Wild Florida is definitely a beautiful trail. I had an epic time & will be back 🎉
Thank you!
All of these! Love the Green Lantern reference! 😅 Spot on.
probably the best description ever!
Watching this is almost as great as going for a run on trails! Haha, well done! ❤
Can't wait for the chili
Very insightful video. Looking forward to this race. Thanks!
Great weather, great crowds, great race coordination! Could've sworn I saw the Grim Reaper on the course! I'll be there next year once I get this stupid IT band injury fixed.
you never know what you'll see up on the mountain
Dude that was epic! Thank you for what you do for the running community!
Thank you!
Looking forward to this weekend!

As a newbie runner this was very helpful. Appreciate the tips!

Pumped and ready to tackle my 1st 50k
Mine too! Very excited.
stoked for my favorite race of the year!
yeh boooiieeee
Great description! I'm hoping my sore knee (miraculously) holds up to do my first 50k. I've run/hiked all the trail sections already and your course description is spot on!
Good stuff, team! Looking forward to my first 50k this October!
Amazing! Remember consistency is the key to training. and don't forget to have FUN too!
@@runbumraces and take pictures!!!
I really love the transitioning going in with the brand! It feels even more community oriented. I know there is still more to come, and it’s exciting. Especially, being a GA resident.
Thank you so much! It's the community that matters. From the local trail runs, to the mega races, it all comes down to the runners & volunteers
Just waiting on my invite for next years race 🤗
Awesome podcast! This was my morning run jam today. Congrats on finding a property to build out. That’s exactly what I am looking for in the next couple of years.
Let us know when you do it! Stoked for stuff like this!
I remember Paul from '23 Forgotten Florida 100 race as I was running an aid station late in race and his buddy pre-brought him special milk (odd at the time to me) that he just said a guy with a red beard will come by to get and I think he may have also brought mcd or pizza and just gave it to everyone else. Now that's a guy I want on my crew!
Maybe Froggy Mountain can start a crew and pacer division too!
Froggy Mountain has the best vibe ever, and there are no better hosts than Paul and Kim. Epic beauty, challenge and runners out there in Galax! Don't miss it in 2024, see how far you can go. 😊
Bonefrog is a great OCR event for ultra folks. Does he ever do 4run/1walk for entire ultras and comments on that?
Sean here.... I never do a timed run walk as what if when you're supposed to run its uphill or you're supposed to walk and its downhill? its a good rule of thumb but for me its keep that HR low until you know you've got it. Pretty soon im gonna have a FREE how to run a 50k guide etc it'll help with all ultra distances!
@@runbumraces i shouldve clarified, for flat races is what I meant.
@@coachb530 so yeah... I think the walk run is key but also how fast you run and how fast you walk is also a factor. Also depending on YOU specifically its different. some people do 2 to 1, 3 to 1, 3 to 2 etc.. so for me as a soccer player and someone who runs less miles for 100 miles id error on more walking early on. Id prob do a 3 to 1 or 3 to 2. but really keep the HR under 135 for as long as possible. that's for my body. so while doing the run walk id be staring at my HR trying to keep it under 135 and then walking accordingly. remember that your HR will drop much faster in the beginning when you start to walk from running vs 10 hours, 20 hours etc into it.
Thanks for this! Love the tips.
Glad it was helpful!
Well this was timely! My first ultra, Sky 2 Summit, is a couple months away and I'm on the fence about trekking poles. At my age, they are helpful, psychologically, for the steep downhill sections of this course (Rabun Bald to Hale Ridge, in particular). If the course had any long flat section, that might cause me to ditch the poles to avoid the monotony of carrying them but it doesn't. We'll find out race day, see you there!
Try collapsable polls. some runners carry a quiver that attaches to their running vest. Naked, Ultimate Direction also make a waist belt that holds trekking polls as well. Either way, test your gear before race week!
Last time I used trekking poles, marmots ate the cork off the handles. Is that covered under warranty??
Brutally honest upfront, but it sounds like a no joke trail run. A map while doing a voice over would be nice.
Thats a great idea! We'll have to do that for the 2024 race!
Yo Sean (Run Bum) -- I ran your UTE 100 back in August 2019 -- excellent adventure... I stuck around a bit post-race day and you generously gave me an extra shirt plus some swell cold beverages. All Good. This race in Florida looks amazing. Although I am signed up for the Long Haul 100 Jan 13-14, 2024, I could likely tag this one on as well and get more Florida Magic. Thanks a grand for making these events possible. Cheers.
Thank you so much! you're gonna kill Long Haul!
Really really well done video! That guy can belt it out! Looking forward to my first ultra - Sky to Summit this fall!
Thank you! See ya soon!
Was a well organized event with spectacular views and people.
Thanks Ralph! It's our favorite race of the year, for obvious reasons!
I felt triggered when you said “elderly!”
