      They are supposed to reduce speed to 8-9 knots in this area. Houston ship channel only limits these ships to 21-22 knots. I’m not sure how well it’s actually regulated. It seems that these ships pretty much come through at whatever speed the captain feels comfortable with, and unfortunately only gets questioned after an accident occurs. Such as the fatal accident that occurred in July 2024. That was a completely different situation with different circumstances, and the wake didn’t play any part in the incident.

    is this bc the props take so much in to push away?

    • @ThirdCoastElectronics
      @ThirdCoastElectronics 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a combination of pull from the props, how low the ship is sitting in water (loaded/unloaded), incoming/outgoing tide, low vs high tide, and wind direction and speed. It all plays a part. A few times a year, everything aligns and you get a massive pull of water. It’s usually a cleaner wave if ship is coming from the other direction.

      Have you tried checking your RTC settings? The Real Time Control can mess things up if the time/date is off. Not sure why since it’s not connected to a external network. Press settings button until you get to time/date menu. If the screen just flashes and doesn’t let you see menu options then the control board is bad and needs to be replaced. Also, where is your unit getting its intake air from, and where is the exhaust vented to?

      The waves tend to bounce back off the bulkhead, over to opposite side of channel, and then back again. Texas has a property law known as open beaches. This pertains to beaches along the Gulf of Mexico as well as all beaches of inland bays, and any other body of navigable water which is not surrounded on all sides by private property of a single owner. The law also has a “rolling easement” clause which pertains to the area which the public has rights to use. This area fluctuates with tides and increasing/decreasing mean water levels in said body of water. This area is clearly not private property, and anyone has the right to use it. I’ll be back.
