"Dune White" Jackery REACTION
You can spot a Jackery a mile away - the bold orange and black colors have been popular with the outdoor enthusiasts, but as more and more people want some sort of home backup power, a more muted, more mature design is often desired.
And Jackery has delivered - a new "Dune White" color option is now available on the tiny Jackery 100 Plus. Will other models soon be available in Dune White as well?
Big thanks to all of my subscribers and thank you for watching!😁

    I am so sick of my jackerys not charging and turning off with full charges (day or night) and then not charging. I also have their e2000 battery packs and they disconnect. Fix is to unplug everything, reset, and the setup from scratch. 10 or 15x a month. Jackery also tells you NOT to reset your units lol. Make up your f'n. I love how support never answers and email support rakes 2 days and you have to send them videos of everything they tell you do to before they will help.

    Excellent video showing the differences in these similar, but different Jackery 1000 ish units. Question: I have the old Jackery 1000 explorer and Jackery states (at least in one place), "The maximum input wattage of Explorer 1000 is 126W(12~30V,7.5~8.33A )". I've also found different and conflicting info on their sites and others. FYI, when I charged mine using 2, 100 watt solar saga panels it did not exceed 125 watts in our good Las Vegas sunshine. Maybe the higher input wattage is meant for AC charging, but don't know. Can you clarify please. Thank you.

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      200w is hypothetical. Since the input is limited to ~8A, you will never get close to 200w with standard 18v solar panels. You also mention Las Vegas - and I'm guessing it's quite hot there.. well heat lowers the voltage of solar panels, so the actual voltage going into the Jackery is probably around 16v (16v @ 8A is 128w). If you can find some higher voltage panels (VOC must be below 32v) you should be able to increase the input. And try charging in the morning sun when temperatures are cooler. Also reducing the distance between the solar panels and the Jackery or using heavy gauge cables can also help (slightly) as well.

    Using this thing as a home-battery. It's a bit on the noisy side, so I moved it to the bedroom (so I don't hear it when I watch television from the 240V socket). Biggest drawback is the max 15A on the Solar X60 port. It's up to 150V, but for small panels the 15A is not high enough. I combine 230W with 2x90W using MPPT's, but they read 12V from the Oscal, 12V * 15W = 180W max.

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan วันที่ผ่านมา

      Don't connect different spec solar panels together - you will always be limited to what the lowest spec panel can produce th-cam.com/video/0oa96V7WeXQ/w-d-xo.html What's the spec on the 230w panel? Have you tried just using that? You might get more power WITHOUT the other 90w panels.

    • @berretje71
      @berretje71 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SoGenFan Not if you use 2 MPPT controllers and wire the battery connections to the same battery. That works fine.

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Right.. but the Oscal isn't just a battery - it has it's own MPPT controller. If you can get another identical 230w panel and connect them in series and feed that straight into the Oscal without using your standalone MPPT controller (and forego the 90w panels) you should get close to 400w input.

    Yea, that 1000 Plus model should have been called 1200 Plus or 1300 Plus as you stated. They had a reasonable naming convention going: original names; Pros (new design and later models with app ability); then Plus (changed to LFP batteries and app use except 100 plus). Now this v2 stuff! I've see a 240 v2 now as well (just slightly smaller battery then 300 Plus but in the same form factor). Oh well, they didn't ask me for my opinion... 🙃

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That new 240 v2 confuses me the most - nearly identical to the 300 Plus... maybe it spells the end for it? The original "300" was one of their best products and still is in many ways better than the 300 Plus, so perhaps they will just keep the old 300 around?

    • @DYT-jx4jp
      @DYT-jx4jp 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think the 300 Plus is staying. It is available in Japan too. In Canada for some reason at Best Buy it is called the 280 Plus. But, you could be right too. They only had the 700 Plus for a short time. The 1000 Pro is only available in certain places but not Jackery's website. They "disappeared" that model but the other Pro ones are advertised. I've only been following Jackery for the past year or so. My impression is there were multiple similar models in the 200-350 range and around the 500 range. I didn't understand the past history, but it seemed like too many similar ones to me. I guess they are going back to that way with their models. :-(

    I am embarrassed to confess that I’m in my 40s and never got a driver’s license, but I am mentioning this because of that fun aspect of hunting for those appliances that micro inverters could handle, specifically those that use the car lighter port, something I have yet to use on any of my small stations, but I discovered a lot of kettles that draw under 100w, lunchboxes that can heat even cook and it kind of opens a world of options, even if someone just had the Juice Go for example!

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think you and me are in the minority... most people just want the biggest inverter they can get. And I do see the appeal of having atleast 1 power station than can power big loads.. but for off-grid / solar power, it just makes more sense to go the efficient route! 😎 And I wish Jackery would include additional 12v ports - like the old 500 model. Atleast the car socket is there, for the 12v appliances you mentioned.

    I’m digging deep into TH-cam on Delta 2 and Goal Zero options. You’re the first reviewer I’ve found that discussed the Goal Zero and the EcoFlow. I’m debating between the Delta 2 on sale at REI for $649 or the new Goal Zero 700 for $449. I know the wattage is different but the GZ 700 is the largest they make with LifePO4 - I wish they would release a new 1000+ with updated battery chemistry. For the $200 more I’m leaning toward the delta 2 at $649 but would value your thoughts between the two. It will be used to power a Hiker Trailer for weekend trips. Thanks

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      To me it's no contest - get the Delta 2 (or something similar - I say that only because Ecoflow doesn't have the best reliability reputation, even though I haven't had any issues with mine but the internet says otherwise 🤷‍♂️). The reason I advise against the Yeti 700 (as your sole power source) is it is way too limited. 600w inverter is too small for cooking UNLESS you are willing to collect a bunch of small low-wattage appliances specifically for the Yeti 700. See my video here: th-cam.com/video/l-bu4-3lHrc/w-d-xo.html The solar is also limited on the Yeti. 200w vs 500w for the Delta 2, and the D2 can accept higher voltage, which also gives additional flexibility when choosing solar panels. And finally there is more battery capacity in the D2 as well. But the Yeti will be much more efficient (at small loads), but with so much less capacity and less ability to charge it back up via solar, I'm not sure it matters too much. Other models to consider are the Bluetti AC70 which has a 1000w inverter / ~800wh LiFePO4 battery and 500w solar. Those specs put it half way between the D2 and Yeti 700. And you can more easily find cooking appliances that a 1000w inverter can handle. It is currently more expensive than the D2 though (at this time D2 is $599 on Amazon) but I've seen Bluetti sell the AC70 for even less. If you can wait, I would wait until July for Amazon Prime Day. These power station companies always have crazy good deals then 👍 The last option would be to get a small Yeti now (maybe just the 500), and wait until GZ releases a larger 1000 Yeti with LiFePO4 cells.

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      65 - 85w depending on temp (more on cold days - less on HOT days). It performs well and as expected. Note you will need a power station than can input atleast 4 amps to get the most power (some older models can only do 3 or 3.5 amps). Also the VOC is a little higher than standard 18v or 20v solar panels (it's 24v). So the power station should also be able to accept 28v to play it safe. (Also this is with MPPT power station)

      Yes you can, and it will have very little impact on battery life, since it will be charging at less than 100w and output will also be low and intermittent, which should prevent internal battery temps from getting too high (as long as the temperature inside the car doesn't get too hot). Park in the shade, use a windshield reflector, place the Jackery in a shaded area in the car (but still with good ventilation for the internal fans - do not block the side vents).

    Thanks for the video/review! Interesting unit for sure to me, but missing a few things biggest for me is on/off master switch? Though, if someone gave me one, I wouldn't complain. :-) On the app controlling charging, just be careful with assuming "yes". I got a Jackery 700 Plus and assumed "yes" because the bigger units have it. But, that is the one thing missing!! Ugh!! I've had charging "problems" because of that lack of control. Now, I have to "see" the option with the particular unit. Thanks again! FYI: Jackery CA has 280 Plus (same as 300 Plus I think). Jackery JP has a 600 Plus which looks very interesting. Hopefully coming to the US market so can "see" how interesting :-)

      Yep, I agree I would think they could add it. They "claim" with the app they can do firmware updates but so far haven't had one. (vs EcoFlow over the past year I've had a few for both EF's I own.)

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The problem I think, is that Jackery wants to maintain an "easy to use" experience. So if you need to update the firmware or if there are too many options in the app, people that are unfamiliar with these things might find it overwhelming etc. It makes sense and I see the appeal of simplicity. 😎

      @DYT-jx4jp 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sorry for the delay in replying. I think that could be a piece of it for sure. The crazy thing is the app has this charging control for other units. But to your point, for example, Jackery gets flack for the DC8020 connection, but my spouse totally can deal with the solar setup with this vs a bunch of MC4 connectors. (XT60 is fine though too for her). I understand why MC4's and that cabling are preferred by many. Thanks for the replies!

      @SoGenFan 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What's funny about this is, this is the argument I used to make back when all power stations had NMC batteries (with "only" 500 cycles). Nobody wanted to spend $$ on something that had a battery that wasn't going to last. Of course I tried to explain that the standardize test is a bit harsh - doing full cycles at high C rates, which is an unlikely use case in the real world. And of course even at the rated cycles, you would still have 80% of new capacity. Then LiFePO4 batteries started to appear and everybody wanted to buy these "long-lasting" power stations lol. Yeah so basically even in power stations with NMC batteries, your comment is most likely applicable (and this video was made referencing a NMC power station and meant for users with NMC power stations - if you have LFP it is not necessary although I still recommend against leaving a LiFePO4 / LFP battery SITTING at either 100 or 0%).

    Does it store your settings when disconnected from the power source? I would like to leave the cable attached to a LiFePO4 battery and just plug it into the Supnova device for a few seconds to see what state of charge the battery is in, rather than leaving it permanently plugged in.

    I'm definitely torn. Feel like the 800+ would be all I need, and the flashlights are a nice feature. But for only $150 more, getting around 30% more capacity and the option for an expandable bank is pretty tempting

    • @SoGenFan
      @SoGenFan หลายเดือนก่อน

      What about a C1000 and a C800? (Instead of buying the expansion battery) Since the expansion battery isn't much use without the C1000, buying a second power station is always a good idea and you will have 2X the Output ports, 2X the charging ability, in addition to more capacity. Unless you can get the expansion battery for SUPER cheap of course.

      @@SoGenFan I always found that if electric blankets were making me warm, my sleep didn't seem right. The electric blanket was more to keep the chill away and let body heat and regular blankets do their job.

    • @SoGenFan

      No parallel connections on this model. DC passthrough is almost a certainty, but I can't confirm. AC bypass is supported up to 1440w.
