Southern Scale Trial 2024 - 1:6 Armortek Jagdtiger tank being challenged
The second year out with southern scale trial this is the best UK event so far, with a huge running area and such a friendly bunch of people to talk to.
As always we loaded the tank after a German trip, charged it and ran all day, even washed the German mud off the tracks.
Tank is an Armortek Jagdtiger which we built and put our own brushless conversion into as well as a lot of other upgrades including steel tracks.

Video showing the 3 tanks we took to Reichshof 2024, all are running on my own designed brushless motor drives. The chieftain was its first outing after being finished on the Thursday evening. It ran well as shown in the video. Improvements are being made to the kit design but will be available in the near future along with others.
Armortek leopard 2 - new tyre day

New tyres are in for the Armortek Leopard 2. 27 of the 28 tyres became loose after a short while running in the pretty wet conditions. The bonding surface isn’t enough in my opinion. I used the loctite 480 and all surfaces were cleaned and roughed up before being bonded. Tyres were also clamped for 24 hrs so I did try. Armortek 1/6 scale Leopard with Beier USM-RC3 sound

First test of new sound system. Our Armortek Leopard running on my custom brushless motors. Sound are from the Beier USM RC3 with an Ampire 24v amplifier and 2 flat panel speaker. Rest assured speakers will be changing, but as time was short this is good enough for a while. The sound file is for the Leopard and the turbo whistle is awesome.

A very similar setup to what we usually use in our conversions. A pair of 63mm Brushless motors being bench tested along with the gearboxes we use. Destined for a very special scratch build 1/6 scale tank. Can't wait to see the results when these are installed, should be fun.

Another great but very hot day at Gurney Slide Quarry near Shelton mallet. Its the UK's biggest rock crawler event and very popular with RC truck drivers. We ran the Armortek Jadgtiger through most of the trail, some of the climbs and decents were interesting. Had some issues with small rocks in the tracks, but otherwise performed superbly all day. Another testing day for the brushless motor conversion on the Armortek JagDtiger. Lots of driving on gravel, long grass and woodland areas. The step was more challenging than it looks, and some struggled. Other tanks to complete the lower part were the Mark1tanks KT and T34 as well as the Armortek Comet. First day with completely new drive solution, runs very well and is super powerful. New gearboxes are industrial and a lot stronger than we have been running. Next will be brushless motors and a Vesc based control solution. Hopefully no more gearbox failures.

Amazing movement with sound. Do you use Armortek provided speaker? what kind of battery do you use for running? cheers!
@@CaptTarpal only the outer hull and road wheels are Armortek, all other parts are custom or aftermarket upgrades. Sound is Beier Usm rc3 with a 400w 24v truck amplifier and 5 Jbl speakers, 1 being an 8” subwoofer. Battery is a 36ah 24v lifepo4 motor and drive are my own custom design. Try running a new Armortek on these hills and the bms cuts in or loses power, will be an interesting mess.

@@krismetzger4158 around £5000 for basic kit then £4000 on top for motion and extras, it’s not a cheap hobby.

Why does it have a missing track guard?
@@The_WhiteSilver when in service the track guards were removed or fell off or blown off so my son decided that he would remove some to imitate this. Also allow easier access to the tracks.

@@AtomickPhoenix nah, that’s not crews in simulator rooms. It’s tanks using a special ammo that doesn’t do actual damage or some magic shit like that. I think he’s talking more about how UAV operators do their job. Sitting in a modified shipping container at an FOB controlling unmanned tanks.

@@FABIANJERRYTHEDUTCH Liam Mahoney on the Armortek forum made them for me. I didn’t like the original design and didn’t like any of the bodges I was thinking about to get over the issue. Yes it cost me but I’m more than happy with the result.
Are those soundboxes from armortek soundpack and the drive system is it also armortek. Best regards Fabian
@@FABIANJERRYTHEDUTCH Hi Fabian, my build uses no Armortek parts apart from the chassis running gear. All the electronics and drive are my own design. I have been using the same brushless drive on various models for over a year, well before Armortek started using brushless. I do sell it as a kit if you’re interested. The speakers are just flat panel surround sound speakers off the internet. They work really well and fit superbly in the shallow space above the motors.More compact motors means more space for batteries or other goodies. See my other videos.

BTW , there is no side rear mirrors whatsoever in the kit. I don't know the reason for missing these two obvious parts.
Well done mate. I have filled the gap with a rubber stripe before install the tyre with very strong double-side tape used for carpet. Some said he used Loctile 638 or 480. Anyway , Filling that gap is the necessary step. Thanks for sharing the footage.
