What is Tricking?
Martial arts tricking is a mix of flips, kicks, spins and other weird movements that can´t really be categorized. You´ve probably seen it in movies as well as on Instagram or TikTok. It stems from various martial arts and includes moves from gymnastics, freerunning, capoeira, breakdancing and even has a wide range of movements original to tricking.
The goal is to create something cool to look at, something that seems to break the laws of physics or just something that feels nice to do.
It´s a relatively new and unknown sport but the tricking community reaches all over the world and is full of amazing and extremely supportive people.
If you want to learn how to trick you can probably find a small tricking community in your area who will be eager to help. I will be publishing a video on how to get started as well as tutorials on certain tricks on this TH-cam channel so subscribe if you´re interested in the topic :)

    REFROMING TRCKING IS A MUST if it's to survive. In order to to make tricking appealing to wider audience and thus make it survive, there needs to be a reform in how people think about tricking and it's future direction. 1st. : make tricking more performative where presentation of your moves and your approach to it earns you good points, just as this video proves it; but emphasize it even more so there's an acting, performative edge to it. 2nd. : make style and elegance, if not the most important aspect, at least as equally as important as power moves, as spamming power moves, which are indistinguishable for the most people who do tricking, let alone ppl who have nothing to do with tricking, becomes boring. And besides, doing a stylized, elegant and confident backflip will always be more attractive than double backflip without any style, elegance. Performing elegant, sylaised moves is also a skill in its own right which is not easy and might be unique to individuals. I'd rather see Anis Cheurfas moves than any of these new school kids that keep throwing these crazy powermoves that are pretty much all the same to a casual viewer. Tricking is in a desperate need of a reform, and the one I presented here is not gonna take anything away from tricking, it'll only make it better and more enjoyable. You can see that other fringe interests such as beatbox and death diving understood this and went this direction. It's also really easy to enforce this new direction by directly and openly rewarding style, performance, elegance, originality, over powermove spams or to an equal degree at least. I can appreciate a technical beatboxer, but I'd much rather listen to a musical, original, fluid one even if his sound kit is simpler. You might think it's unnecessary, but if you don't attract a wider audience, it defeats the purpose of it's entertainment nature, and without any money trickers won't have any incentive to stay tricking, and just like me and majority of other trickers that never end up working as stuntmen or something where you can make a living off of it, which is a very small minority, it'll just become a background hobby and nothing more, so the sport won't ever evolve beyond a few years of active tricking of all individual trickers. This is not a sell out reform as I genuinely believe that tricking was always about style and presentation anyway, it just went this weird direction where a 3 year old kid height cheat 720 was more admired than a normal hook kick done with flair.

      Couldn’t agree more with this! I’m trying to judge in a way that encourages originality, style and cleanliness without disregarding the difficulty of high level power moves. Hopefully people will start to take notice of what winning passes look like and Tricking can become a lot more exciting 🔥

    • @NoahPetek
      @NoahPetek วันที่ผ่านมา

      I fully agree! I feel like style and execution is lacking from a lot of high level trickers and from a lot of trickers in general. To someone who‘s not into the sport it just looks like sloppy gymnastics and they can‘t even tell the difference between dub and quad. A good Skillaz Icy cork got me more hooked on tricking than any cheat 16 or quad cork ever could. I believe there has to be a balance where we can push the sport to it‘s boundaries but still keep up the standards to where it still has mainstream appeal. Good examples for this would be Dante, Tiki or Kazuki. My favorite tricker of all time is Shosei but I believe to someone who‘s not involved in tricking at all he would probably look too sloppy and they can‘t comprehend what‘s going on. Another big issue is also flow (which I guess you could count as part of style). A lot of combos are not very well pieced together. Look at some of the viral tricking clips… Levis frontswing/backswing combos, Matus raiz gainer raiz macaron, Nicoflow and Skillaz content… What do we see? No stumbles, big shapes, perfect flow and good execution. I have thought about how to grow the sport and make a living through tricking a lot and I believe that cleaning up my style would benefit me much more than adding another twist or two.

      @Mr.Jasaw13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@NoahPetek exactly. Hope we can push this conversation forward and brainstorm more ideas on how we can make tricking appealing to the wider audience. I get literally nothing from this. It only comes from the desire to see tricking, my beloved sport/art thrive, and athletes paid, as i know it's possible if we market it well and focus on what got all of us interested in it, which is def not quadruple corks and whatnots. One organisation has to take the lead and promote its new direction and focus through its event/comp. Videography also has to be top notch. I recommand taking inspiration from 00nation for death dive and their direction in how they promote and popularise death diving.
