It's A Good Time To Love Fighting Games
มุมมอง 18Kปีที่แล้ว
I think fighting games are neat :) I decided to dig in to this genre of videogames I love and try speculate on what makes them special, their history, and what could be the trends that define future of this genre. This video will probably be delisted (by me) on October 23rd SONGS: i.imgur.com/dTNzAip.jpg I messed up on the track list I use "Stage 1 Clear" not "Enter the Catwalk" from Mario Arti...
Revisiting My First Anime
มุมมอง 1312 ปีที่แล้ว
"What was your first anime' is a question often asked between anime likers. What people consider "their first" is a fun look at when you got in to the medium. So I decided to look back at one of the formative shows of my weebdom. Music pastebin.com/RXyVwmMB Clips and music featured are not my own and all belong to their respective copywrite holders

    So Japan did to an American Horror what Americans do to Japanese Horror, I guess. Little bit of retribution by the sounds of it. Also hi! I enjoyed your other videos and am happy to see you post more, although I admit seeing the new name pop up in my feed had me going "Who?" before I clicked through to go "Oh! MediaDiver!" You don't have pronouns listed anywhere so I don't even know if to congratulate you now or what, but good work on the vid again. And god do I understand delays. Well, shit happens. You do have me thinking if there's a Czech Found Footage horror movie, considering it's not a genre we touch often just due to our relationship to horror and being scared. But I'll let you know if I find something if you're interested.

    I really gotta check these movies out sometime soon! I love the point ya made too about the perception of media outside of the west for kids being perceived as "weird/messed up". I feel like it's a thing where western kids media for so long in the mainstream is looked at as noise for babies even when that wasn't the case for even the popular things of the time and the more notable stuff we'd get from outside of the US/west would be perceived as "weird" because it's a bit different than what most are used to even if tackling the same or similar things as western children's films/animation. The xenophobia/fear of Japanese media dominance of the 2000's did a lot to people's brains and how a lot of stuff especially from them is perceived ESPECIALLY from people who don't take animated films broadly as a genre more seriously when they all can embody so much within them. Great video! Loved the Tezuka history and Katie has such an adorable design!

    Counterpoint: Karate Champ is pretty dope. I'd say fighting games are in a better place than they have been in YEARS! You didn't even mention Project L, which might actually change the perception of F2P games for developers (many have tried it but a lot of them are too monetized to be worth it).

    When I was growing up, there were four Czech TV Channels. ČT1, ČT2, which were the national broadcasters, TV Nova and TV Prima. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, TV Nova would air cartoons, foreign ones, as localy produced ones were relegated to ČT1's Večerníček timeslot before the evening news. Among the first ones I distinctly remember airing and I remember not only enjoying but specifically getting up at 5 in the morning to catch all of them were Pokemon, Digimon and Beyblade. I was born in 96, mind you, and we did not get a lot of stuff here as former Eastern Bloc country. I was informed the Austrian channel RTL2 which you could catch with a Satelitte Dish aired Dragonball, but I was not really interested in that. Past the holy trinity of Toy Commercial Anime For Toys You Will Have Trouble Finding (Beyblades were easy to get as knockoffs, but Digimon Virtual Pets did not get here and getting a GameBoy to play Pokemon on was basically impossible, meaning everyone thought it was just the cartoon and cards), the show that aired that I did not recognize as anime was the Finnish-Japanese Co-Production of the most famous adaptation of Tove Jansson's Moomin. And if you were a kid with a rich enough family you might have cable TV and through that get to watch Jetix as its dedicated channel and there was another channel that had an 8 pm split of "it's for kids until 8 pm then it's for adults" and I know for a fact that that channel aired a dub of the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist. It and Soul Eater were the first anime I watched I thought of as Anime, and I think a contributing factor of that was watching them split into three parts on youtube with fansubs. The truly personally impactful one was FMA:B though, I've watched that at least ten times.

    Howdy, hey. Haven't finished the video yet, but I just wanted to tell you to keep up the good work. I'm really glad the algorithm pushed your channel to me. I think it was either the wrestling video or the fighting game one. This is like the most Zoomer thing to say and I'm not even a Zoomer (nothing wrong with that, some of my best friends are Zoomers. Wish I was one, tbh. I was born in '93, I'm like right there.), but your aesthetic is a vibe. I'm subbed, going to hit that bell, and keeping a couple of your videos in my watch later playlist. I'll be sharing your stuff amongst my friends as well.

    Happy for TH-cam sending this rad video to my recommendations! I dig the kinda stream of consciousness cozy vibes that carry this through a lot. Especially when it came to Part 3. This flows. Fellow horror fans rise up! I feel like the whole Cybil Good Ending deal is so cryptic and honestly kind of half works every time I've played it that I don't fully get why they executed it the way they did. Your videos are bloated with random tangents that serve no purpose. The entire voice acting section at the end of part 1 couldve been cut down to a few sentences, but you go back and forth referencing multiple works from multiple genres from multiple mediums to basically make a single point - like why? Made me stop watching immediately. If you want to make a singular point, but reference something, it's better to reference one single thing from the same medium of the media you are discussing (preferably within the same genre as well), otherwise it just sounds like you have zero focus. It's much better to be like "look at how this one horror video game did this thing to illustrate my point" instead of "look at this anime, now look at this anime, now look at this movie, now look at this video game, now look back at this anime".

    • @R_binMcCall
      @R_binMcCall ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. I appreciate you watching and leaving thus comment, sincerely. But ultimately this is kinda just me. Could there be an argument to be made that I could weave this stuff in better? Totally. Is there also something to be said that I haven't really earned these tangents and should keep these more straightforward till I earn viewers' trust? Again, sure, we could have that conversation. But at the end of the day. This is just how I think about things, and if I want to put my honest thoughts out there, you end up with this. If i made my videos more one note then shifted to this style that I enjoy working in more, I'd have to wait for some abstract goalposts for success that could never get to make what I want. I'd rather try to honey my skills in a way I enjoy. I'll try my best, but you can't satisfy everyone. I will try to keep your comment mind going forward. Maybe someday I'll make something more to your liking. But also maybe not. Again, thank you for taking the time to comment here. I'm sorry you didn't like the video. *I made some small grammatical fixes here and there when I first wrote this it was immediately after I woke up, so there were some weird little mistakes.

    Yeah i agree, playing game specially fighting genre in arcade is something special, i used to play fighting game first in arcade, (virtua fighter , tekken) until we have a lot of consoles (n64,ps1,ps2.gamecube even sega etc) and mostly fighting game we have, then when i was elementary gradually our consoles damaged and hardly to read the disc, so i used to play again in arcade and play with some player there since i was play in console i used to play offline (CPU) and i beat up some player there and even have win streak 10+ everytime when i go to arcade, i get confident in fighting genre and keep practicing, (tekken) since i don't have a console working anymore that time in elem days, and no knowledge about using pc to do search in yt , i keep practicing with some real player, just trying discover a useful command while a in-game with real player XD, and it didn't take too long that i can even use mokujin and any character, i can say i can use it consistent, but not a pro lol. but i do beat some older player there while i was just a elem, they do even throw a chair to me and shouted because i didn't give mercy after a 2 wins in a row then i discovered about the mercy thing giving a another win if you already 2 wins in a row, even the ki-charge means to bad manners? ( i do it but didn't mean to bm but it's cool to do lol ), and when you use a low command about 3 times they called you low spammers, using a normal grab they call you a grabber spammers, didn't know they do big deal about that things and kinda it's joke to me because i just play for fun and no hard feelings, and until t7 exist, in arcade they have some arcade t7 that outdated, and online console and steam player can do plugging and even intentionally make the internet speed slow then they're about to lose XDDD BRUHHH bad english sorry lol i tried promise :<

    It's a good time but time is not nice to us humans. I've been feeling too old by now and I can already feel how my reactions aren't how they were up to my late 20s, on top of having not a lot of time anymore, so I'd rather chill with the Yakuza series or fps. Yet, up until my end of the journey, I wasn't a fan of the constant dumbing down of system mechanics. Arcsys has dumbed down their gamesso much that they all feel almost the same by now, just because the suits have finally smelled money after the mainstream success of DBFZ
