My son Mike playing guitar solos on a Alesis Keytar using Kontakt samples. Not perfect ,not exact copies but still fun to play.

Playing around with some chords using Logic X as DAW and Alesis Q49 as midi controller.
Just came across this, as a keys player of over 35 years experience I've never had the confidence to use one of these, plus back in the day they were really limited. I do however like to mess with peoples heads during sound checks and such, and the Sweet Child of mine riff is a fave to mess with the sound engineers or people standing about, as it turns heads and then they realise there's no guitar player on stage at the time. You've also nailed the fact that you cant approach guitar parts like a keys player, for example, when playing chords a lot of players will play full chords, when to sound authentic it really needs to be just 5ths or other 2 note chords, which is also a good tip for when playing with a guitarist so you're not comparting for the same "space" in the sound. Love the use of pitch bend and vibrato. I'm not familiar with this model, are both controlled from the same ribbon controller pad? Have to say the overdriven sound is more convincing than the clean strat sound. Sticking a wah into the chain would be interesting too. Here's one for you to try, The Pseudo Echo version of Funky Town. Great job, enjoyed it.
Очень круто ❤❤❤ привет из России
I think you are an exceptional musician and you play the keytar like a guitar! Awesome
Great cover! :)
What is the set up to get these sounds?
Evolution Stratosphere from Orange Tree samples through Kontakt.
there's nobody else on this earth that could handle this level of coolness
You make me want to buy a keytar!
Great work mate this gives more ideas on my vortex. Thanks
Thanks for sharing! I had a Roland Axe-edge last year with its own built in sounds, but it was simply unwieldy to play on stage with.... bigger than a damn bass guitar. This is the only smaller keytar I've seen with full size keys and I'm not a fan of mini keys. Also I'd have to run it through my iPad, but YOU HAVE CONVINCED ME that this is the way to go because your guitar patches rule! Also I"m going to need some real piano sounds for Journey and stuff like that and the KORG RK-100S2 just doesn't have them. Most helpful video I've watched in a long time!
El teclado ya lleva estos sonidos de guitarra? y si no es así de donde los sacas? No veo que el keytar este conectado a un ordenador o dispositivo externo.
NOICE!
How is the song on 3rd place called again?
Layla
@@dyndas7943 thanks, great playing btw
Dude has skillz thats for sure 😯😲🤘
this guy fucks, i get it now.
tremendous!
I want one §=0) \m/
Dude this is sick!!!
i was really impressed with how fabulous the keytar sounds on these popular solos and how well you play them! Too bad Glen Frey is such a pr-k we missed a good one!
Yes because I used a very good solo guitar patch from orange tree samples within kontakt
Dude. I'm gonna be honest. When this video started, I wasn't expecting too much. Man was I wrong. I've been playing keys for a LONG time. I used to strap my Poly 800 on back in the day when I'd gig. I recently bought an AX-Edge and I hope I get anywhere close to the same level of awesomeness out of my new axe that you're getting out of your setup. Rock on, Brother!
so cool !
Just as an aside, you may consider making a video about your software/VST set up to show folks what modules you’re using and signal path.
I wasn’t expecting much, but I got to say, that was impressive. I’ve been playing Keytar for about 15 years and use SWAM instruments for horns and strings and Musiclab’s various forms of guitars like Les Paul. Kontact for Pedal Steel … Just graduated from the roland Ax, which was enormous/ heavy to the Alessis, which is way more compact and has triple the number of MIDI assignable knobs and faders. Well done, thank you!
So good they had to mute the majority of the hotel cali solo thinking it was the real thing 👏
Great job. Loved the cover songs.
6. What's the next song?
And 1???
1 is Sultans of Swing -Dire Straits 6 is Europa - Santana
is this guitar sound somes from the keytar?
No - Vortex is a midi controller the sounds are from Kontakt player using wireless usb dongle.
This was the most awesome demo of the Vortex II I found online, LOL! I bought my own Vortex II shortly after watching it. 😎
very nice. Where are you get the sounds from. They seem much more realistic than anything I can seem to find on things like FLStudio etc.
I liked your work! it's cool!
You really cool man!
He's good. I need to make a joke here about his mother telling him to clean his room before he can do the next 10. I've decided not to..
What’s that supposed to mean ?
That was amazing dude! Loved everyone of them. Rock on! 🤘😉✌️
Most accurate Sweet Child solo I’ve seen on keytar today. (I’ve seen a bunch, researching!)
Why thank you! Yes I’ve seen some horrible versions 😅
Dude you're nailing these solos - sounds great! What Kontakt samples are you using? If I get one of these (looking at the Roland Ax-Edge) it's going to be on stage with me sooner than later. Thanks for helping show me the way!
Orange Tree
One more question. Are you literally playing wireless?? Is this being sent via Bluetooth to your DAW? I swear that I didn’t know that this was now possible without horrible latency issues. I’m doing something similar but using WiFi instead of Bluetooth. I have a WiFi “dongle” that plugs into any 2.5mm or 1/4” trs and then sends the signal via 5 ghz to an Iconnectivity Mio. The cool thing is that the signal is now available to the entire network (iPad, daw and all midi attached hardware). Lastly, were you formally trained in piano and is it your main instrument? Thanks again 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Vortex has a USB dongle or you can use a cable but this was recorded with wireless dongle - I don't think it's blue tooth but RF like microphones and guitars use. Logic X and almost no latency.
@@dyndas7943 awesome! Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Fantastic job! Love it!! I just bought a KeyTar and love it. But you are a billion times better than me 🙏❤️
You’ll learn good tricks overtime
Love it
Epic... The Gilmore trip is awesome.. GREAT CHOPS.. good share.
Love it !
What an incredible job, what programs do you use to make your guitars? they sound incredible.
Orange tree
Amazing You have a true talent 👏
Very nice musician
I want to hear someone play respect the wind by Eddie Van Halen on keytar
I can do that
This is so groovy. How do you make the horns swell like that? Were all the non-percussion instruments you on the keytar? Nightlife lead absolutely sent me…
I have a Roland AX Edge and am very interested in knowing your exact setup in detail for each song. What other software do you use (e.g., MusicLab RealGuitar)? The tones you’re putting down in this video is precisely what I want to achieve with my keytar. P. S. You have impeccable taste in music!
It's a Mac mini running Kontakt using Evolution Stratosphere library from Orange Tree Samples and it's only two presets one is Ambient Strat and the second one is called Legendary.
Amazing demonstration dude. All hail the keytar!
That's so cool!
Do you find the thumbwheel pitch-bender easier to use that a pitch-strip, like on the Roland?
Yes
You go boyeeeee!
TOP.
