    I can’t shake the thought that popped up when you mentioned the fractured jaw. It’s mentioned so often in act 1. At the end of ceremorphosis, the jaw splits open to make space for four large tentacles

    In a realm of stasis it is odd that there is only a skeleton. Something had to rip out every piece of tissue and scrap of clothing yet deam the jewelry undesirable. The artists probably just went for the cool factor but imagining a carrion swarm of smaller beings consuming a divine being to an unknown end is also rad.

    My innitial thought is the original vlakith, due to her connection to the gith, the crown, connection to the illithid and tadpoles respectably and her death seen as she technically was no god but was so gifted in magic that she could come accross as one it would make sense that after her death that magic would spill out plus her iconography being of other cultures too, theres an argument for a few gods but seen as part of the gith story revolves around a vlakith too it would make sense story wise as well as the fact that the gith cresh is in one of the sun gods' temples, lathandor only issue being that she wouldn't have had 4 arms

    Could be any number of dead gods, In NW2 (Still under the same creators as BG2) there was a similar environment in the astral plane. However in that case the god was named and it was Myrkul.

    You hear violence because there is violence. Specifically, Orpheus's honor guide attacking it. This is what happens when you make a video but didn't play the game.

    • @joshgulrud
      @joshgulrud 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      To be clear, it's fine if you didn't play, as such, but it seems dishonest. I'll add that you are misspronouncing several names, not to mention discussing gods that are still alive, as dead, possibly confusing gods "of" death and "dead" gods. Karsus arguably never got to godhood.

  • @M_Alexander

    It is absolutely just a copy of Myrkul's corpse from Mask of the Betrayer. It isn't meant to be Myrkul I don't think, that was just clearly the visual inspiration, whether directly or indirectly.

    As soon as I saw the fanged dead god skeleton wearing the boastful crown in game, I immediatley thought of Velsharoon. His corpse had been ejected into the Astral Plain when Dweomerheart was destroyed, and then The Simbul travelled to the Astral Plain do permenently kill him by engulfing his body in flame (Simbul side bar of Aglarond section in Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide). It could explain the Chasm Moss, since Velsharoon lived underground, and Weavemoss, as he was a deity of magic, although it wouldn't explain the four arms or unknown symbols.

    But jergal is in the game and fine.. withers is jergal, it's revealed in the ending. Withers gave the dead three their powers, as jergal gave up his spot of God of the dead to these E mortals because he was tired of being a god.

    Even before seeing this I subscribed to the Jergal theory. Not because I have any hard evidence, but because it fits thematically with the rest of the game. Jergal is a dead god. Not literally, but he is no longer a god in the most understood sense. What we see is the remnants of his divinity, and what he left behind when his power was given to the dead three, who (spoiler alert jic) are the main forces behind the ENTIRE plot of the game. With this in mind, Jergal is at the center of everything in BG3, so it only makes sense that he's the literal central set piece of the area metaphorically representing the game's conflict. It's also entirely possible that Jergal DID die, but that didn't quite matter to him as death is his whole domain. Doesn't matter anyway as it's all metaphysical and wibbly. Like I said though, there's no hard evidence for this. Just speculation and my own headcannon based on the themes of the game. Feel free to contradict me.
