Sculpting Truman the Cape Parrot
มุมมอง 7695 ปีที่แล้ว
I was given the wonderful opportunity to sculpt Kili and Truman from The Parrot Wizard. Here is a look into the making of Truman (with Kili peeking in a bit too). The Parrot Wizard is an amazing resource for parrot owners. It has helped me better my relationship with my own birds. If you or someone you know is looking for more information on bird care and training, check out their channel and w...

Fixing Cracks in Your Polymer Clay Creations
มุมมอง 16K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Have you ever spend hours on a project only to have it crack in the oven? In this brief tutorial, I will show you how to fill in these cracks using Translucent Liquid Sculpey and a small amount of clay. If your clay is too dry, or cools too quickly after baking, the clay can crack or tear. Most of the time these cracks are small and cosmetic. This tutorial is intended to help smooth out these c...
Starting out with polymer clay - Mixing colors
มุมมอง 59K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Getting started with polymer clay? Here are some tips on how to choose your first colors, and how to mix your own to make the perfect color shade for any project. Something I forgot to mention in the video - if your clay is too oily (e.g. you added too much clay softener during conditioning), you can leech the clay by placing it on a folded scrap piece of paper. The oils will be pulled from the...

Polymer Clay Speedsculpt - Pigeon Charm
มุมมอง 5K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Watch me sculpt a pigeon charm and add the iridescent sparkle to his neck! This color of pigeon is known as ash red. The red in the plumage is very subtle, making it appear more of a chocolate brown unless it is in the perfect lighting to showcase the red. I originally had footage of two pigeons, each with different wings, but the second recording turned out very out of focus so I didn’t includ...

A speedsculpt of a Toco toucan. In anticipation of making my first toucans, I made several kinds of toucan beaks, baked them, and set them aside. Hi Mam, thanks for your video. You explained everything very nicely!! Recently i have changed my oven. But its not conviction oven. Its an OTG. I am using bake mode. Preheating it for 15-20 min till it reached 275F with ceramic tile as base in my tray. After that i place my little charms in it made of premo for 15 min and later 10 min 15min. So total 30min. But since i have started using this new oven i am seeing hair line cracks in them. I am just feeling helpless. Please help me.. what the issue could be? ☹️ Also i had conditioned the clay very well.

    • @8bluebirdsstudio664
      @8bluebirdsstudio664 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not an expert on ovens, but the issue might be that the charms should be baked for a solid thirty minutes to allow the polymers to set properly. If you are baking them in smaller increments of time, the temperature fluctuations from hot to room temperature and back again may be the cause of the cracks.

    This is a very nice and useful video. Thank you so much for this. I know it takes a lot of work to make these tutorials. I do have a request. It would be so USEFUL to see the different color blends baked/cured - not just “raw”. They change so much when baked sometimes which can be disappointing. One thing to remember is that polymer clay colors are NOT true pigments like artists oil paints. Blending 2 colors like you would an oil paint don’t always have the same results in polymer clay. I would also recommend that those who are new to color mixing to just use a small amount to mix a new color as a test first, then BAKE/CURE it first before deciding on a recipe. Sometimes new blends do NOT look as good baked as in the raw state. Also, Pearl white, a very pretty tempting color to use in mixes/blends tends to bake/cure darker than you would expect....but looks good raw, sadly.
