Stumbled onto this reaction, Barry is such an amazing show and it's fun to watch someone experience it in all its dark comedic glory for the first time

The whole “toxic masculinity” is just how Barry comes off to sally, who doesn’t understand his background and that his actions that party were really cause he has 0 social skills or awareness and for real though they were together after they slept once. But then Barry trying to change and because of what sally told him used that term without knowing what it means so he just sounds ridiculous

"Toxic masculinity" is a broad term. It really means any form of masculinity that is toxic to the self and/or those around you. It's specifically called "toxic masculinity" because, culturally, men have more difficulty with specific things. You instead calling it "insecurity" is not really wrong, but insecurity can also be part of toxic masculinity. Or more, rather, the way he responded to the insecurity was to act in a toxic way, specifically claiming Sally as "his girl", and possessiveness in relationship is a commonly toxic male trait. Granted, I know women can be possessive as well, but I'm not sure if it's to the same degree.

The "I could stab him in the nut" was actually Fuches' idea. The more you watch this, the more you realize how passive Barry is.
