Bike is ugly
Thank you for all the information! I have a Bridge Club frame set on the way and have the parts from an old bike that has similar parts as yours.
100kg with bike, rider and gear. Dang, that’s just my body weight, no wonder riding is so hard.
your bike is so sick
Which model are those Aero Gran Compe please?
All great but no drive shaft option
I have had this bike for all summer and it is the perfect all around bike for me. They only missed two things. I have a large size but there still wasn't enough room to put a front fender through the fork so I had to cut the fender so it doesn't go through the fork. The other thing is they didn't weld on a kickstand attachment. Can't put a regular kickstand on this bike so it is senseless that they didn't add it. I will probably have someone weld one on for me but that's a hassle.
I used to run bb7 brakes but changed to trp spyke as they have dual pistons. Much better design.
Does the fork with classic big rake not shatter with disc brakes?
Also how were you able to fit the 44/32/22 crank , on the surly specification sheet it says the maximum you can do is a 42t . Thanks
I just watched your other video on the bridge club where you do the calculations of the gear ratios , the casset you use has the lowest gear 36t ,but on this video you used a 34t, did you replace the casete from 34 to 36t , thank you so much for posting this ,i just bought a bridge club and i want to do the same exact setup.
Timeless, great build!
Hi. I think another option is to add a front and back rack to a hybrid to use it as a light cargo bike.
That was the nerdiest review I culd find but therefore super helpful. Thanks guys!!
Either cable or hydraulic brakes… they are disc brakes. Anyway, really beautiful bike. You forgot to name the nice bell!
Very excellent performance of bike station of cycle picnic...
can you make a video on how to pull out the rain jacket while riding and then while riding how to put it on and also wearing a back pack while riding because im a race rider so i dont have time to stop for 10 seconds
what's the crankset..& cassette on the Sutra ltd??
Great video. I really appreciate the review.
I will says this; Juintech R1 brakes, highly recommend if you want more stopping power and adjustability
Beautiful bike! So extremely well thought out and personalized with a great blend of classic design and modern components. I've done a couple 650B conversions with old road frames which was fun, but starting from scratch with a custom frame must be very satisfying. Thanks for sharing!
Nice video and I'm subscribed, please can you wright it down for me the name of the lights, for I couldn't be able to decipher it
If you ever sell it, let me know!
@bicyclepicnic Thank you for this! Hope you’ve been out touring and some day make more videos
Inspiring! I would be inclined to use a rear rack and move some weight back there, either into panniers or a compression sack strapped on the rack.
I've recently become obsessed with manual bikes, to the point where it feels like I'm cheating on them. My passion reignited in 2022 when I started using the Bluebike rental service in Boston, which brought back the freedom I felt as a teenager. Since then, I've bought two bikes and ride them everywhere, except for trips over 30 miles for work. I was initially set on getting a Sirrus X for bike-packing and commuting, but after asking Google’s Gemini for bike recommendations, I found myself captivated by Surly bikes through countless TH-cam videos. Now, I’m deeply in love with this brand and wonder if my bike preferences will shift again before I finally get a Surly with fatties. Since I ride all year round and we do get snow in New England, do you have any recommendations for fenders that would fit a 29 x 3 tire?
Great work ! I guess I should build my own bike now 🫠
As a community bike shop volunteer, I was always surprised how often people who had no previous experience with building wheels were able to build their own wheel with just a tiny bit of direction. One useful concept is embodied in the the unfamiliar word "recursion". --you don't just "tighten the spokes" instead, you tighten slightly, then check true & correct, then check round/hop & correct, then check dish & correct, then check tension & correct, then tighten (again) and then repeat all the above steps. . . the perfect wheel comes from repeated imperfect corrections of the gross deviations until the wheel becomes "perfect".
Nice bike are you from Belgium?
Beautiful bike 🤩 Very well thought out 😃
I haven't built a wheel for many years. (Of course, I had to count... 60 years [sigh]). Now I've got to get back into it. At least tune all the wheels I've got. I don't need instruction, but you are on spot with this video; I did need that push of motivation. Going to buy that truing stand that has been on my wish list since 2021.
Great review. One of the last remaining touring bikes with a truly low grannie gear!
I have the Saint on my Karate Monkey, best BB ever.
Hey, did you put the spacers with your BB at 3:37 ? Or is it not needed ?
How wide is your custom frame bag. I'm torn betweem 50mm and 60mm. Thanks for any advice
Tasty build, looks like built to ride, nice "custom built" feel
Nice build in BXL!
Salut, Dis moi lorsque l'on reçoit le kit cadre est ce qu'il y a le bouchon de potence et étoile de direction? Le jeu de direction est aussi livré ou non? Merci
Super interesting--thank you!
Very nice and helpful review! Thx.
Nice build! I will also get an Omnium CXC but couldnt decide between size M and L. I'm 188 cm and although I really like slightly smaller, more agile bikes, your video gives me the impression a size M would be wayyy too small for me :D
What bar is that may I ask?
Such a cool colour! RAL Yellow?
Hey what is your height? I am 1m78cm. Would you rather recommend going with frame size M or L? Thanks
Do you think the medium size would be ok for someone who is 172 cm?
with the 'gearing'...how does this Cargobike Handle going up 'Steep' hills? ( loaded & unloaded...)...some future footage would be appreciated. Cheers Canada!..i prefer the 'Short-Mini'...with Internal gearing...& gates belt drive!! ( EZ 'maintenance'!! ).
Excellent comparison! I was also looking at the same steel bike frames that you mentioned and got it down to just 2 frames: The Ritchey Ascent and Surly Ogre, all Flatbars. I am primarily looking for more comfort and off-road capability/ World Traveller/ Rigid MTB type of build. You mentioned the Suryl Bridge Club in the video. How do you think they would compare? I am 186 cm and weigh about 76 Kg and thinking of an Size L Frame. Also which of the bike is more versatile? Thanks a lot!
Beautiful bike. All great choices!
