Hi! I'm Jaharn and I'm obsessed with upcycling 🛠️
Get ready to roll up your sleeves because we’re about to rummage through piles of dusty furniture, home decor and clothes to find the diamond in the rough. The messier, the better. I'm obsessed with sharing my love of affordable, elevated and sustainable upcycling, DIY and sewing projects, and I hope they become your definitive guide to learning lifelong creative skills.
Scouring thrift stores and tip shops, finding unique pieces for next to nothing, seeing the potential, and transforming them with a little bit of creativity and elbow grease is my Roman Empire. My purpose is to show you how you can easily transform the pieces you thrift, or may already have, using unexpected materials in unexpected ways. Are you ready? Let's get making!

Upcycled Button Vests | *Easiest Thrift Flip Ever!*
As you may know I'm currently in Bali on holiday with my family and when I started thinking about what I wanted to pack in my suitcase, I remembered I had thrifted two vests for $8 last year and I knew they would be perfect to take with me. But, there was a little problem with them so let's quickly rewind. It all started when we stumbled across an antique store on our way home from a weekend in Brisbane over a year ago and I found a container of gorgeous vintage buttons for a couple of dollars. Not long after, I thrifted a black vest and a navy blue one, too. But it didn’t occur to me to put two and two together until I realised I hadn’t worn my thrifted vests since I bought them. I didn’t like the old buttons on either vest and a quick button update was all that was needed. Keep watching to find out what happened next...

Upcycled Two Piece Set by Jaharn Quinn
มุมมอง 619วันที่ผ่านมา
I'm currently in Bali on holiday with my family and a few months ago I started looking for a matching skirt and top set to take with me. I couldn't find anything, so I decided to make it myself. I'm obsessed with colour, especially red, but struggled to find the perfect fabric that wasn't going to cost through the roof or made from a material like polyester. So, you can imagine my sheer delight...

Upcycling A Tired Old Timber Footstool Using Paint And Boucle
That looks so comfy! I’m seriously stealing this idea. Anything to not stick to my clothing in the summer humidity of the Midwest!
It's so comfy :) Haha please do! I would love that! And I'd love to see what it looks like when it's finished. You'll look gorgeous xx
Adorbs!
Thank youuuu x
So simple yet so elegant. Subscribed❤.
Awww thank you! That means the world to me, truly! xx
I used to make skirts exactly like that out of cheap gingham fabrics. Had one in just about every colour. Just getting hold of fabric like that nowdays is ridiculously expensive & inconvenient- if possible at all. Edit- you look great btw❤
Right? It's so expensive and my closest fabric store is about an hour away. That's why I love thinking outside the box :) That's so cool you make this style of skirt too. Isn't it the best! Xxx
I looks like you’re wearing a sheet
Haha I am!
Wow, it’s beautiful
Thank youuuuu :)
That's beautiful! That shade of red is my absolute favourite colour ❤❤❤
Thank you, me too - it's so pretty! :) x
Oh, the original legs were such elegant shape, but if you like these ones, that's ok.😊
I've kept the original legs, saved them for a rainy day/another project in the future :)
@@jaharnquinn the legs are very grateful for your kindness!🤗😊
That is Amazing!,
Thank youuuuuu! xxx
Love it!❤
Thank you, that makes me so happy to hear! x
It's much easier to maneuver the fabric accurately if you make sure the needle is in the fabric before you lift the presser foot. That way, you can easily reposition your fabric. Also if you put a small cut at the corner of each scallop you wouldn't get that bunching of the fabric there, when you iron it.😊
Totally agree and love your tip about cutting the scallop, genius! Thank you ☺️
This is cool! I havent heard of marquetry before. I really like how yours turned out. I wonder if there's a wood version of grout that could be used to make a feature out of the spaces between the pieces 😃
Thank you ☺️ Omg that’s such a cool idea! You could use wood filler? 🥰
Very cool!
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰🥰
This is a great idea 😃
Thank you. So happy you like this project 🥰🥰🥰
Beautiful! I like your style 🙂 A quick sewing tip for next time: cut notches into the seam allowance around the curves of the scallops to help them lay flat. Google "clipping and notching seamwork" for a helpful short article on this 🙂
Should have padded the seat for comfort and continuity. Cute idea tho
Thank youuuuuu :) That's a great idea!
WOW! THIS IS TRULY AMAZING❤️❤️😍😍. Also, can I get a pin pls👁️🙏👁️
Thank youuuuuuuu! :)
This is great! I am looking at making something similar - with pieces of decorative broken pottery I've collected over the years. The formply tabletop is a great idea! I was stumped on what to use, but think I will do the same. Thanks!
Thank you :) Oooooh I love that! Gosh I'd love to see your broken pottery collection. What a lovely way to reuse something people might throw out. That makes me so happy to hear! Would love to see the final project :) xx
My inner child is soo happy !!!
Yayyyyyyy! That makes me so happy to hear :) xxx
so cute!!
Thanks lovely! xxxx
Love it! Especially the floors. So creative and beautifully made ❤
Aww thank you! That's so kind of you to say. I loved making the floors. I've seen people use wood glue but I was like, there's got to be a more simple solution so I used double sided tape and it worked so well :)
Cute!!❤❤😊
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you like it :) x
Yep!!❤️
It’s a nice board but it would be hard for beginers to study chess because of the different type of wood in the black square
Thank youuuuu. I am actually learning on it and find it easy to distinguish between the colours and the pine timber. But thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it and will consider it the next time I make a chessboard :)
so adorable
80s kid here ....I'm guessing it's PUFF PAINT you used for the icing on the shingles. Definitely got a new sub here!! I love this! ❤
YESSSSSSS! Haha that makes me SO happy you guessed it! Aww thank you, that means the world to me. I'd also be lying if I said I wasn;t giving my tees and denim jeans the side eye, wondering if I should add puff paint to them haha x
Thats awesome idea, where did you find the foam?
Thank you! It's so comfy to sit on now too :) This is where I got them from: foamforhome.com.au/ :)
Estava perfeita na metade kkk
Before I painted? I know what you mean. It was hard to paint it but I gotta stick with the Gingerbread theme :)
Lol puffy paint!!!
Haha right!! It's so good as icing. It's a little shinier than I remembered it to be when I was a kid, and I also have memories of using a hair dryer to make it puff up more too. x
@@jaharnquinn lol I used to love making tote bags with it!
@@Bobtheturtle4698 Obsessed!!
holy shit that looks amazing!!
Haha yay! Thank you :) I've shared a more detailed video as well, if you're interested in knowing all the details :) x
You should make black outline on bricks to define them more
Ooooooh I like! I am going to cover it in icing but I feel like the black outline would look really good underneath. Do you have any ideas about what I should use for the outline? Maybe a permanent pen? x
It looks so delicious, especially the colour of it. Don't accidentally munch on the house! 😂
Haha thank youuuuu! It's taking a lot of self control not to take a bite out of it :) x
That is so pretty! 😮
Thank youuuuu :) I've shared a more detailed video as well, if you're interested in learning more about the exterior makeover :) x
Nicely done
Thank you so much, I really loved making this :)
That is so nice ❤
Thank youuuu x
I watched 1 minute and there were so many cuts that I got a headache
You are so right. It's a lot. Thanks for your feedback! I'm still learning and experimenting with editing techniques so will make sure to limit this in upcoming videos 👍
Great job! 👏👏👏
Thank you! 😃
Great idea. If anyone tries something like this. Could I suggest an Ebony Matt varnish? Bc, I have a load of antique furniture that was once brown (traditional wood stain) and now that it’s all black, it looks so good with my contemporary light fittings and artwork👌🏽
Thank you! Such a great tip, thank you :)
Very nice chess👍
Thank youuuuuu so much :)
Very good video! Congrats
Thank you I am so happy you like it!
only a woman could cram something in a hole and call it an invention... well done... [pats condescendingly on it's clever little head]
What a brilliant idea. I never thought of it.THANKS.
Thank you! My pleasure, I'm so glad you love it xx
I love your video. Suggestion if you don't mind remove or lower the music volume in your next video. The music sounds louder than your voice, making it hard to hear what you are saying.
Thank you :) I know, I am so sorry. I didn't realise until the video was up. Doh! Let me know if there's anything you couldn't hear properly and I'll let you know what I said xx
@@jaharnquinn It's okay. I replayed the video until the part I couldn't hear was clearly to me. Thank you. I appreciate it :)
@@VickyLatorreArt Anytime! I appreciate the feedback :) Xxxx
I had a good giggle at the “double microwave” comment 🤣 turned out so cute!!!
Hahaha right? I'm so glad you could see what I could see :) x
Nah fr this deserves many views
Awww thank youuuuuu! :)
This isn't my aesthetic but it looks great and gives me ideas.
I LOVE hearing that! Thank you :)
Absolutely love it 💜
Yay! I am so happy you love it :) x

This is STUNNING oh my god
Thank youuuuu! It's one of my favourite pieces I've ever made x
Well done hun❤
