A-1 Skyraider at first was developedat some point during World War II, and was supposed to service the second world war. The Skyraider finally was put in service for both the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps wait after the second world war, for some people and Military personnel. It came in too late in military service, because it was meant for the second world war. However it did seek service as a ground attack aircraft at first during the Korean war, and then later on during the Vietnam war. In the 1950s even though it was the jet age, the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps used other piston-powered airplanes operated by propellers. Some of them were trainers they were the T-28 and T-34, and one of them that was a trainer during World War II. Became a front line and serviced the Korean war. The one that did it was AT-6 and SNJ Texan. The A-1 Skyraider would have its final operation during the Vietnam war, when another ground attack airplane came along. And that was the A-37B Dragonfly. I've seen the A-37 Dragonfly in a couple of airshows doing Vietnam War reenactment demonstrations, with very cool pyros in the airfield. Simulating gun shooting and bomb drops, and for the big finale the wall of fire. A-37 was replaced by the A-10 Warthog Thunderbolt II in the late 1970s, which also replaced the A-1 Skyraider. The A-37B Dragonfly I found out is part of the United States Air Force Reserve and Air national guard, and if I'm not mistaken. I think they would use it as part of the red flag Air Force flight Training operations as well. Both the A-37 Dragonfly and A-1 Skyraider have the same thing in common of what they were designed to fly, as both ground attack aircraft. And one was used during the Korean War and then the Vietnam War later on, until the second one came along during the Vietnam war. And they were the origins of the A-10 Warhawk Thunderbolt II. But before the three of them, the first original was the P-47 Thunderbolt. Someday I hope to see a United States Air Force heritage flight with all four of them flying together, where the diamond formation will dedicate the history of Air Force ground attack airplanes

1 hour endurance is not spectacular but it will probably be good for short hops. I wonder what they do to manage the risk of a battery fire?

Love the turn at 1:50! When you're zoomed in and it turns like that, it looks so scary! Beautiful capture <3 Also, what camera are you using? The clip at 5:32, you're soo zoomed in and this is such a high speed pass, but it's in frame the entire time! How? Absolutely jaw dropping footage

I used to fly these for great lakes and air Ontario back in the early 80s and before first started with great lakes in 1970 then it was Convair 340/440 metropolitan this plane here has been converted to turbo prop from radial engines probably some time in the 90s good video

Too bad the ICE plane was alongside making the sound of the ePlane difficult to distinguish. Short-hop/regional electric flight, just like similar range EV’s for commercial transport will hopefully make a big contribution to our environmental salvation.

Coulson really messed up by donating the Mars to the museum. The Mars belongs on Sproat Lake its just a big part of what that lake is known for. I spent all my childhood summers at families place on Sproat Lake and that was such an awesome thing to see. Words cant describe the sound of that plane taking off! Even just seeing the 2 planes floating in the lake is so awesome! What Coulson should have done is put some seats in the plane and take people on flights so they can experience the planes for themselves. Just look at how the 15000 USD dollar VIP packages sold out in 3 days! There is a LOT of interest in those planes and looking at them in a museum just doesnt come close to the true experience. Its just so sad that all the really cool things that make up our world are disappearing and being replaced with boring alternatives.

Hopefully the museum gets a new hangar built for Hawaii Mars and the others very soon.

Every important aircraft in the History of Aviation deserves a spot in a Museum. where it will be admired and loved by the future generations and the elders. Aircraft like this deserve to be retired. They are almost like living machines with a Soul.
