Inspiring City is a street and urban art blog based in the East End of London. We interview artists, feature their work and try to give a platform for new and emerging street artists as well as helping you to learn more about the exciting street art scene.
Visiting the Wedo Goas and El Seed Murals from the London Mural Festival
Two fabulous murals created as part of the London Mural Festival. One in Lewisham and the other a little further up between Deptford and Rotherhithe.
The first a work by Wedo Goas. His piece is called 'Mixed Culture' and shows a woman sitting an an old Victorian style chair. It is covered with the same material that covers some of the benches in the UK Parliament. Elsewhere all the patterns and influences in the piece have connections to the mixed culture of the area.
It can be found at 39 Lee Church Street SE13 5SG
A little further up on the side of a huge residential block is a work from El Seed is known for his Arabic style calligraphy and patterns. His mural covers the whole length of the building. Called 'Spring Always Comes Back' he has taken the quote from a Chilean poet called Pablo Neruda. He said "You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot stop Spring from coming back".
