Really enjoyed this recap! ♥️🌿🥰
praise the Lord!
Love this! I hadn’t seen all these Living Book Press editions. Nice! We’ve enjoyed Dallas Lore Sharp as a family read a loud. We’ve done a couple different ones of his!
Yes the LBP editions are so nice! We've tried the Sharp volumes a few times, but my children really didn't enjoy them though I did.
I read an article about Thornton Peter rabbit is inspiration from Beatrix Peter rabbit
YES! Love the connection, though I think Burgess Peter is less mischievous than Potter's. :D
Gather all the dandelions and count them.
yes!! Though we have a large yard, so would never get them all! :D #parsonagelife
This was very helpful. Thank you!
We enjoyed The Dragon Lady one from our library, too! We have a few others. ♥️The family connection is a wonderful thing!!!! This is a great list. Thank you. ♥️
Wonderful! Thanks for watching!
Wow. I classically educate my boys but what you are doing here is intriguing. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to learning more from you.
Thank you
We also love Dangerous Journey here. ♥️
It's a good one!
I’m enjoying all your videos! 😂 I appreciate that you have older children! I needed some inspiration as I’m planning.
Thank you, and yes there is a lack of sharing and inspiration for the older grades.
Loved listening to this! Trying to get inspiration for the new year. 🥰♥️ The TillberryTable guides are wonderful!
So glad! Yes, they are simple but beautiful!
Thank you for sharing this curriculum. I did not know about it, and now that I do I think I would like to try the astronomy first! Perhaps you answered this in the video and I missed it, but how many lessons are in each? Are they meant to be done 2 days a week? Thanks!
They are technically 3 days a week, but one of the days is always "read nature lore" so it's not a lesson I have to plan. They read and narrate.
Thank you! I also have English lit for boys and girls on my shed for my form 2, and my high schoolers all have loved Fallacy Detective !
Fallacy Detective was a hit with my 13 year old last year
Super helpful!
That's my aim in this space! Thank you for watching.
Thank you for sharing! I appreciate this in depth look at a curriculum :)
Awesome! Thank you so much for watching, that is my goal here to help other educators find what they are looking for and share our experiences!
This sounds wonderful! Love the idea of incorporating literature, poetry and picture study into our nature study. Thank you for sharing this! 🙌☺️
Oh I'm so glad you found it helpful!
I am hoping to use this when my youngest gets to 4th grade. I debated using Form 1 this year ( I wound up going with something different). Sabbath Mood guides are very affordable and look so good!! Great video! I hope you will share more about this :)
Will be sharing more in future, glad it was helpful.
Thank you for your video reviews. I thought to use R&S along side SCM Arithmetic Series. For example level 1 in each curriculum. Do you think it would blend well together, or just too much for the child? I thought to give a half a lesson in R&S each day. I just love how quickly kids learn math facts and they actually stick, but I love the gentle short approach of SCM. Thank you
Honestly that feels like way too much. If anything I would do the speed drills from R&S with SCM, but that's about it. They are very different methods of learning, and SCM goes a bit slower, but still just as effective to get them stick depending on the child. Three of mine have thrived with SCM and facts, one did not but she also isn't thriving in R&S. Facts just take longer for that one child to retain. We use xtramath.com to help them with facts usually.
@@wholeheartedhomemaking thank you so much. This is very helpful
This was SUCH a helpful video, thank you so much! I’ve got 4 children, we farm and are very active in our church. Hearing all your tips, but also the encouragement to remember the people in the schedule, what a blessing.
Thank you and Praise the Lord! It is hard to find that balance, prayers for you in your school year!
This was a very helpful video. Thank you!
Great, thanks for stopping by!
Wow...these sound wonderful. I feel my little girl would love this.🙏☺️
We have enjoyed these! Magnets, Tech & Eng, & Astronomy were our favorites so far.
I appreciate your resources and will be using your preschool guide this year with my littles. Thank you so much. This video is also very helpful!
Praise the Lord! So exciting
Thank you!
This is so helpful! We are just starting form 1, but I am pulling books for form 1 on her website. I would love a video on special studies!
Thank you. Definitely in the future planning to go into depth on a CM style lesson, her booklists are a gem!
We have cycled through so many different math curriculums and none worked as well as scm. I love them and my son is finally making progress in math.
YES! It was the one we needed too, so grateful for Richele's amazing work in these.
Wonderfully shown. Thank you for doing an in depth honest look! Is each subject 3 lessons per week in all forms?
Form 3-4- one day of biology or botany (full year to complete), three days specific science subject Form 4-6- can follow same pattern, a traditional pattern or something else. Her website explains scheduling pretty decently as high school allows for many more options to your scheduling.
Great review! So helpful. I’m super interested in the engineering and technology one. I’ll have 6,4,1 and preschool this coming school year
Great video! Do you know if SCM plans on making more levels?
Thank you! @simplycharlottemason could better answer that. I think there may be one more in the works.
Thanks for the great review and walkthrough of The Charlotte Mason Elementary Arithmetic Series!
❤ any time! We have been blessed by this curriculum!
Genius!!
thank you
I like how you do biographies. Thanks for sharing. Just subscribed. I also have a channel and would love to be friends and connect. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you! Will do! Heading to your page to check it out!
@@wholeheartedhomemaking thank you so much also!!
It sounds wonderful. I am really seeing the importance of mental math. It's so helpful and fundamental. Applying those math skills in eveyday activities is a great idea! 🙌☺️ Hope you are having a wonderful summer! 🥰🥰
Yes, mental math is one we overlook often in our traditional settings but it's so crucial to every day life!
What is the morning time book you showed, where can I get it
It's a great book! www.amazon.com/Morning-Time-Liturgy-Cindy-Rollins/dp/1944435166
Hey sweet mama! I just subscribed to your channel. I didnt know there were resources like this on morning time. They sound wonderful. 💗☺️
Yes! You have to check our Cindy's book its so amazing!
I've heard of Pam Barnhill but I've never tried her morning time guide. I forgot about it actually! For this coming year, I've purchased a few Morning Virtues studies from Gentle + Classical for my upcoming 2nd and 5th graders.
Yes, I have one of those roaming around on my hard drive and keep forgetting about it. They also have great morning time resources.
Love book review videos. Middle school boys are my focus.
Love that! I have 6 daughters, and my youngest is a boy at only 1. Sadly I have all nephews who don't enjoy reading. :( What are your boys favorite books?
6 girls and a boy!!!! What a beautiful family. Books my boys have loved: Pax, Christmas Pig, Wild Robot, Chronicles of Narnia, The Bears of Blue River, A Dog’s Purpose…. we do Ambleside, I could list off quite a few books that I have loved for them on Ambleside. We just found and started reading the Lamplighter series. Highly highly recommend. We are reading Teddy Buttons right now and love that.
@@jamiehazlewood1370 Bears of Blue River was a huge hit with my second born! She read it multiple times :D
peter pan is a story based off of a false god...
Have you read the book?
@@wholeheartedhomemaking I grew up in the 90s with a lost family...so yeah I know what peter pan is and the books..research where these wicked fables come from
@@miss.baptist394 I'm sorry your upset by our choice. I was simply asking if you read the original. There are many books others choose to read that I do not agree with because of our personal beliefs. Wind in the Willows for instance gave me pause, we don't read Narnia in our home, and perhaps after my rereading of this classic (its been 4 years since I read it) will cause me to change my mind or may not, but I appreciate your concern. Thank you for watching.
What will you be using for math?
She is using PreAlgebra from Memoria press over the summer, and then will move on to BJU Algebra (2nd Edition). My husband is former high school math teacher, and he chose that curriculum out of many others.
New subbie! We're not strictly CM homeschoolers but we do love books! The old trailblazer books look really nice. I hope they still sell it. God bless.
Thank you! You can usually find them used.
There is a Landmark Queen Victoria (by Noel Streatfeild) if you'd be so fortunate to find a reasonably priced copy!
Yes! Thank you shortly after filming this I found a copy hiding at our library!
I just placed all these books on hold at my nearby library! Thank you so much for your recommendations.
Yes, hoping to make more book favorites videos soon!
Wow! You read so much. You're an inspiration. I'll download my list today and get started. 🤗
Audiobooks are a huge help!
Second great video I've seen today from you. I'm going to binge a few more while I work out! Have a blessed day.
oh wonderful! If you ever have a question don't hesitate to ask
That was an awesome video. First time seeing your videos! I'm finishing my first year with the CMEC. I have a 1A and 2A student, so I really needed the holding hand of the CMEC. I'm going to do the next year with the CMEC because Charlotte Mason is still new to me, but you really inspired me to take it easy and just gave a great list of books. Thank you for your time.
praise the Lord! I have heard great things about CMEC, and it helps many especially those figuring out the ropes!
I love how you explain this. You have so much experience with multiple children!
Thank you sweet friend. I've got the multiples and learning along the way.
I'm having a hard time figuring out a schedule. I have an 8, 7, 5,5, 2, 1 year old this fall. My 8 year old is far ahead in her reading level and my 7 year old is still learning cvc words and my twins really want to read.... I've been trying a themed schedule but I'm just really not sure how to do it and how to give appropriate amounts of independent work. Would love to hear your suggestions!
The years we have non-independent readers are always the hardest! I try to limit true independent work at those ages to just a few subjects: copywork/handwriting, math practice (like flashcards or review game on tablet), and nature journaling. This should take 30 minutes or less for non readers, and about 45-60 minutes for independent readers. Then I use about 30-45 minutes of one on one time to do a math lesson (15 minutes) and any readings they need help with (ie I read to them). My independent readers can narrate to me any time. While your oldest does their work independently try to capitalize on that 30-60 minutes by working with your twins for 15-20 minutes with short pre-reading lessons, then move on to helping 7 year old with math and any other instructed reading. If possible have your 7 year old play with the youngest ones while you work with your twins and vice versa. It's not babysitting just playing together. Hope this helps, please feel free to ask more questions if need!
@wholeheartedhomemaking thank you for taking the time to reply! And help me! I've been thinking some kind of stations type of thing would be best for that as well. Also, how do you establish a morning time or a read aloud time?
@@ezekielfenjavandehei3189 Stations can work well if you have the space. I think a great way to introduce morning time simply would be an afternoon tea time. You don't have to do tea, we have done juice, cider, and often just water with a snack. I am using Tea Time Together this summer, as it has a composer, artist, and poet. It may be a good fit. If you want to try that I have a discount code: WHOLEHEARTEDHOMEMAKING . Or simply set aside 20-30 min a day to start and read. Allow your kids to color, build, or even move around while you read as long as they can tell back (narrate) what was read. I encourage you to start with an exciting read aloud, but a short one. Not sure if you have boys or girls or mix, but great first read aloud include My Father's Dragon, Charlotte's Web, Gooney Bird Greene, Mr. Popper's Penguins, or Mrs. PiggleWiggle to name a few.
@@wholeheartedhomemaking thank you!!!
I do this too but much less how do you fit all that in and set those expectations? Do you have consequences for not completing work?
I guess I'm not quite sure of the question. In first grade my students do everything with me, so there isn't a question of completing work. First grade takes about 1 hour of independent one on one work, and then 30-60 minutes of morning time/family studies- on average. The only subjects covered everyday are bible, math, copywork, recitation, phonics, and one reading (two if we have time and desire more).
Do you have a list of all these books?
yes, if you head over to my blog www.wholeheartedhomemaking.wordpress.com you can find a list of all these and more
Hi, loved this! I'm a homeschooling mom too...subscribing to your channel. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. ❤
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this! It's very helpful to see how another family with more kids pulls a CM curriculum together.
Yes, it feels daunting but really its just a matter of setting your priorities and vision, then moving forward!
What a great and informative video! Thanks so much for showing step by step how to curate a curriculum specific to your child. Will you be showing this process for thr older child like 4/5th or 6th grade?
Thank you! I will share 6th grade and 7th grade in mid-late May. I do have my booklist for my 4/5th graders on my blog under 2022 and 2023 curriculums
