Focusing light. Binos, telescopes and flashlights channel. I find used and new gear and see for myself how good or bad they really are. I give my real world opinions after I test each gear in my own way.

Oberwerk SE 10x42 Binoculars Review

The best binoculars I've tested? Touted as an improvement to the now discontinued but highly regarded Nikon SE binoculars. Is it really as good as the Nikon SE? The Oberwerk SE binoculars has very good optics with reduced chromatic aberrations thanks to the use of FK-61 ED lenses. Field flatness is also the best I have seen to date. Celestron SkyMaster 25x100 binoculars review
Great review, thanks. I think I'll get one. What's a decent tripod for this (that's not too pricy)?
I highly recommend a tall tripod like this one amzn.to/4c5xDIB . It will make viewing up easier.
@@FocusKnob Thanks! Right now I use the Canon 15x50 IS. The image stabilization is amazing. Will be interesting to see how the Celestron EDs compare.
Worst binoculars ever I had, as per the price range the eyepice is just small as some 20-30 dollar binoculars. This thing will gives you hard time every single time when you try to see a clear sharp image from both eyes and you end up in having a very dillusional image and the object is also not that sharp its just having a colour contrast all around it. You gonna see red blue green yellow colour around it. i have canon Binoculars 18x52 and its eye relief oh my god and the clearity and field of view and the eye relief top notch.
It's a fast achromat so there will be unwanted color at times. Sacrifice has been made for such a fast binoculars. But the 25x and wider aperture improves the bino vision at night.
Thanks for the video, to be honest the Pro looked better or just as good as ED, this video helped me I will be going with the PRO 15x70 version so I can also use them on zero gravity chair and tripod, I am wondering what is the name of that tripod you are using and how do you like it? I also need to get a good tripod for the 15x70 skymaster pro's, thanks again you earned my sub lookinig forward to more of your content Sir! My wife wears glasses so the eye relief is also important for us, and to pay more to get less eye relief does not make sense to us especially when there is not a huge difference in the images from both, thanks again!
You can get tripod at amzn.to/4c5xDIB . It's a nice and tall tripod so I don't have to squat or sit down in order to look up. I like it. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your quality review, really appreciate it 👍
I do my best. Thanks for watching.
I can see little to no chromatic aberration with mine. Isn't that a misalignment? Maybe you should send it to their maintenance.
Then you are lucky. Most binoculars have chromatic aberrations. It's a byproduct of bending light.
thanks for your simple but valuable vedio
Thanks for watching.
Prize pls
The price has gone up in recent years $400. I remember a time when it was $300.
Are you afraid of the dark?
Great video i love mine
Right on
My question is... How you make this video? haha
I made it with my computer
@@FocusKnob I try to say, how you film your binoculars... With cellphone?
Yes I use my phone camera.
@@FocusKnob very good video quality 👏🏻🇧🇷
Still. Sooooooo good wow
I'm glad you were amazed
if it doesn't give me 3rd burns my skin it's not bright enough.
Understandable. 2nd degree burns is still pretty cool.
What is the price of this binocular?
$430 currently
@@FocusKnob Make a Comparing video of This celestron Skymaster ED 20x80 VS Orion GiantView ED 20x80 binocular
We'll see. Might be tough now that Orion is no longer in business
You mean Orion Company has stopped manufacturing binoculars now
Yes which also means less people will be interested in investing on a binoculars that essentially has no warranty.
Excellent review! 😍
Thank you! Cheers!
I think the extra strap is for the carrying case.
The case strap is included inside.
I purchased the Orion 20x80 ED binoculars five years ago. They look VERY similar to the Celestrons and I think the specs are nearly identical. They were $300 (again 5 years ago) I also had to send back my first pair due to poor collimation. The 2nd pair they sent me was good, however and I kept them. It sounds like your expectations based on the price were a little high. These binoculars are still not high end instruments. You could spend one to three thousand dollars on binoculars. While the chromatic aberration is much improved on these ED binos compared to the standard binos, there is still some CA present and that was what I expected.
Sadly Orion and Meade are now dead. Took each other out of business for some reason
Olympus 25 WP II Very Better.
Thanks very much for your review of this Oberwerk binocular. It assisted me in determining whether or not I will proceed to acquire another model in their SE Series of binoculars. The views through the optics were particularly beneficial. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful!
With a 90mm refractor I can see the red spot (no color) 2 bands and sometimes the northern and southern band. You could try stacking your video and see the results. I don't see color with my achromatic telescope but if I take a picture color comes thru. Your fast refractor is designed for wide field of views and not planet viewing.
Someday I'll learn how to stack.
Its grease buddy :) it was used to put them togheter and tighten them. You can open the end portion of them by unscrewing the piece that hold the end lens.
Someday I'll open it up.
Nikon Aculon 16×50 ou Pentax Júpiter 16×50 ? Qual é melhor ??? 🤔🧐🙄🥸
I would probably go with Nikon since it has twist eyecups instead of the fold-down style on the Pentax. Nikon also has 4.2° field of view while the Pentax has 3.6° field of view.
Moon is entity of its own it makes the sun's light bearable to look at 🙃😌
That's a beautiful poetry
A fan of abstract huh 😌 cool
🎉 Thank you! ❤ How is the 25x70?
Never tested that but I bet the view will be dimmer due to the smaller aperture and higher magnification.
Good Bino🔍🔎Good Video📹
Glad you liked
Check out - Analog Sky Heart Deep Dive: Next-Gen 80mm binocular telescope
I checked and it's very interesting.
Im guessing thats moisture or some kind of lacquer. This should be perfect matte black, not reflective at all. Its possible that excessive heat caused by the Sun has caused this. If it hurts optical quality and you know how to take it apart and properly adjust them when putting it back together, you can strip the paint/coating off and repaint/coat with some vantablack for the ultimate contrast boost.
Someone told me Celestron sometimes coat the barrels with oil so any dust that get trap inside is caught in the oil. In my case the Assembler was overzealous with the oil application. Ridiculous that oil would be used like this.
@@FocusKnob thats crazy. I can only imagine the pain of cleaning the prisms and lenses if any oil got on those. Cleaning my 80mm apo is already a pain, but on binos its just so many things to clean...
Is it worth the +50% on price though?
And that's where it's up to the individual to decide. Is the improved image worth it.
+50%? In Germany the ED are almost twice as expensive 😭 The Pros cost 200€ and the ED 383€... For me it's not worth the difference I think. Also, thank you @FocusKnob for the comparision! Given the price difference I expected a much bigger improvement
Thanks for watching. The price definitely need to go down.
I'll go with the Pro (not ED). Thank you!
Let us know what you think about it.
Is it celestron pro ed 20x80 is a good binocular? Pls help. I am new in this industry, just bought this binocular
Yes it is if it's collimated correctly.
@@FocusKnob thank you Sir! More content on that binocular
Go to my channel and check out my review of it.
I have these on a camera tripod and it’s barely able to work. It’s hard to move the binoculars around to look at things without having difficulties holding it in the place you want it. A proper stand would be more than the binoculars so I’ll hold off on that for a while
You probably need a bigger tripod like: amzn.to/4c5xDIB
Which onw you recommend me, celestron pro ed or monarch m7?
at what magnification? This Celestron is a 20x. The Nikon Monarch doesn't go that high.
@@FocusKnob okay thanks for replyyy
this video made me stupider
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Is this a video about how to enter a biker bar or binocular review?
both
What tripod did you use? Can you share the link?
I use several but I recommend amzn.to/4c5xDIB
It needs a 1/4 20 tripod threads?
It attaches to the eyepiece of telescope and binoculars
pub d merd!!!
It's funny there's a lot of amateurs who can't see this CA and they claim their cheap "apo" scopes are perfect. But it's so obvious the aberration is there.
Once you see it you can't unsee it.
This is what optics reviews should look like. Thank you.
Thanks for watching.

20x80ED broken in 2021, but the quality of aggiuntive magnification plus 5x are best difference to see planets and brightest stars during daylight 😅
You are Great astronomer!❤🎉 i’ve a 25x80ED porro Binoculars… and 82Hd angulated binocular, I love 20x80 format of binoculars.
Man thank you so much for these videos. I'll be tackling this same project as soon as I get the right tools!
What type of grease do use? and what do you think is the best way to apply so you don't have too much?
You can use synthetic grease or lithium grease. Very little grease is needed for the shutter blade mechanism. I applied grease and then worked the mechanism until it moved smoothly and then wipe off one time any grease that I see so you can't even see it but there's enough residue remaining to provide lubrication. For the barrels and aperture adjustment ring you can be more liberal with the grease.
@@FocusKnob thank you! I'll keep that in mind!
Got yourself a follower❤. Question though where can I get some of the tools that you use to take apart the lens?
You can find all tools you'll need on Amazon. I've linked them on the description.
